Newcastle United vs. Manchester United

I'd give Evra 45 minutes. Otherwise it would have been two weeks since he last played.

Forget about this game in training, concentrate solely on the Munich game.

A lot depends on injury news, do we have any updates to Evra/ Rafael etc? I'd like to see Nani get a game here with Mata and Kagawa starting with Welbeck up top, I'd keep Rooney on the bench unelss we need him

With the work Welbeck got through last night, and how key he'll be to any gameplan on Wednesday, I'd actually think he's the 1st name to be rested.

Then Rooney, and probably Valencia, Carrick and Vidic.

We'll win this comfortably. Newcastle have been on the beach since January.

I do think Moyes will surprise a few here and put a youngster on the bench/starting eleven.

No point in resting players. Play a good team and give them minutes on the pitch. Confidence and momentum is great, Newcastle aren't playing with a lot of confidence and if we win well, it'll be a good prep for the Munich match.

I don't mean to sound arrogant, but feck the Europa League for next season, the CL is our priority now and I'd have no problem with us staying where we are on the table and putting this miserable league season behind us.

Rest everyone bar Mata for this one.

------Mata-------

-------------DDG
---------Don't care
------Cleverley--Fellaini/Fletch
Nani-----------Mata------------Januzaj
--------------Hernandez

Exciting front four, key defenders wrapped in cotton wool

I guess we'll have to endure 90 minutes of Ashley Young again. :(

How so? We're 7th, with 6th the best we can hope for, and have a really tough game midweek!
No point in NOT resting players I'd say.

However, when you can still put out Januzaj, Mata, Nani, Young and Hernanez, it's not looking too weak!

Newcastle can get very physical in the game so it will be risky playing key players. There is 4 days break as we play saturday and then Wednesday so some players can play both games if absolutely needed. Having said that, we have backups in all areas so according to me, the lineup should be:

Lindegaard
Rafael Ferdinand Smalling Buttner
Nani Fellaini Cleverley Januzaj
Mata
Hernandez

Against Bayern, we can go for:

DDG
Jones Vidic Evans Evra
Valencia Carrick Fletcher Welbeck
Kagawa
Rooney

I would rather not play Rafael against Bayern. Lot of discipline and constraint will be expected of RB and they will have to choose right moments to get forward. I won't trust Rafael in this situation. It would be hard and bit unfair on Buttner after first leg performance but I would still go with Evra there. Even tempted to maintain the CB experienced partnership of Rio-Vidic at Allianz arena and go with Smalling-Evans at Newcastle.

Anyone who has been out injured should play in this one. We can't start or risk players in Munich who haven't played for a while, so we need to play all of these to increase our options on Wednesday.

Smalling, Evans, Rafael and Nani should all start. If they all come through it well, they then become good options for the CL. I'd like to see Evans involved in Munich if possible.

Looking at all those line-ups without rested players actually makes for a positive reading. On paper, we can field two, completely different and pretty good bunches of players.

Projected Newcastle lineup:

Elliott
Mbiwa--Williamson--Coloccini--Santon
Ben Arfa--Tiote--Anita--Gouffran
De Jong/Ameobi--Cisse

Even with a weakened lineup, I would back our lads to do well. Newcastle are low on confidence and have a few injuries. If we score first it will be curtains for Newcastle and we will win it comfortably I reckon.
Just got to be aware of Ben Arfa, it will be no surprise if he decides to turn up against us.

Its odd, last season that was exactly how I thought Rafael had broken through to be a serious contender for best RB in the league. Went forward a lot less often, but chose his moments so well when he did, it felt like he was doing more attacking than he really was.

This season though, back to square 1. More time forward, to less effect.

Bayern will rest everyone this weekend, it's vital we do the same, including DDG. Won't hurt giving Anders a game at all

I don't really care much about the PL at this point. Just play the reserves. The likes of Rooney, Carrick, Vidic, De Gea should be wrapped up in cotton ball until Wednesday. Moreover, if we field a fringe team we might actually see a bit more energy and desire, since all these player would want to impress and prove themselves. I don't want us to lose to Newcastle but they are shit lately, anyway, so with something like this we should be alright:

------------------Lindegaard--------------------
--Don't know who's available anymore--Evra
----------------Fellaini----Cleverley------------
--Nani / Young-------Mata-----------Januzaj-
---------------------Chicharito-----------------

Bench: Fletcher, Kagawa, Young / Nani and some kids.

Valencia at DM, please. The idea has piqued my interest.

No, no, according to Moyes we're past it and he's been left a load of rubbish by SAF. Or was it that he always knew we could pull out a performance.

Which one is he on this week?

I'd search closer within us as United fans and I would find plenty - for some time it was vast majority - who think we have a so-so set of players. I mostly don't buy what managers say as it's mostly aimed to take the pressure of their players or themselves. The truth is, we've got as good a squad as any team in the country have. I said this at the beginning of the season, mid-way through it and I stick to that approaching the end of the season.

I really don't want Newcastle doing the double over us, was bad enough them beating us at Old Trafford

No Krul, Debuchy = no defence. No Remy, Sissoko. Half-arsed Ben Arfa. Out of form Cisse = no goals.

Easy win for your mob.

He's played OK

I've been impressed with his work rate recently and he does get chances but he is desperately in need of a few goals to get his confidence back.

Hopefully that happens on Saturday. :D

All this while I kept thinking you were a Leeds fan Marching! Don't remember why.

It's all very well resting people, but i'd still like to see us winning the game. If we lose, all the negativity around the club and especially the manager will ratchet up a notch. And i'm not sure that's healthy. You want to be going into the Bayern match on a high, with a positive attitude and full of confidence.

The ideal scenario would be to start a relatively strong team, get into a comfortable lead by the 60th or 70th minute - and given our away form, that's not an impossible task - and then take off our key men.

I am a Leeds fan. Always have been. Always will be.

Live in Newcastle now and all my mates are Toon fans so I have (or had as I've not renewed for next season) a NUFC ST.

Lindegaard
Rafael, Evans, Smalling, Evra
Fellaini, Fletcher
Nani, Mata, Januzaj
Hernandez

0-3
Not to concerned about the back 4, would even consider Cleverley in for Fletcher.
