Olympiakos vs. Manchester United

Before the match he said he wanted to remain compact and 'hopefully try to score'...how can you win games and trophies with that mentality?

Them poor sods over in Greece tonight deserve compensation.

He said that? hahahha.

That was one of the most appalling 45 mins of football I have witnessed and there is plenty competition from this seasons offerings.I have sworn more at the telly tonight than I have ever done.I actually feel like the enthusiasm is seeping away! I feel I don't wanna watch the second half but I will even though it will give me little pleasure. It's like having that fifth w*nk.You know you won't enjoy it but you still do it!

hey Salford lad...surely the old trafford crowd would be starting to get on moyes back if this was old trafford...we just can't keep accepting this.

If we started to quieten the crowd, we did ok but going forward nothing. The goal was a complete fluke as usual. Some of these players need a rocket for slipping over time and time again. Smalling needs to spend the rest of his life learning technique. Valencia needs to be dropped. We need to realize this team aren't good. Important team talk for Moyes. Let's stop playing like wankers.

We can rue bad luck for Olympiakos' goal, but defending deep around the twelve yard box has been a common theme at times this season. No surprise we've been punished for that now.

Seriously lads....What the hell is going on?:lol:

Remember the days when we went to the San Siro, Turin, Barcelona etc and actually attacked and tried things?

It's just hoof ball  And where's the 300k man? Leading man should be leading us when we are down like us.

It's grand though, I found a packet of fags :D All's good :)

Rooney is trying most of our attacking players. Its just that the rest are shite and the tactics are basically "Hey Wayne, try to do something with RVP. The rest of you, defend!"

I'm away from a tv right now, but if the caf is a reliable guide to what's happening on the pitch right now we've retreated from our glorious form against Palace.

Malcolm will have to man up, sooner or later, and do what he knows he must do. This just isn't working and it never will with David at the helm.

Seems most of the posters were correct in their concerns.

Valencia, Cleverley, Smalling, Rooney, Rio have all been very poor. Not good enough!

Sure it does. I suppose it's theoretically possible for a team to be a better team without its best ("by far") player but that's not how it usually works. Based on what little we know about this opponent I would think we'd all agree that we go into the game as heavy favorites. Key players have returned from injury and we just polished off a side over the weekend that is probably one or two rungs above Olympiakos. Short of horror refereeing (Cuneyt v Nani), this should be a straightforward win by at least a two goal margin.
Never underestimate your opponent, especially when they are on a crazy run of form.

This game makes you wonder if we actually practice attacking in training, or is it all about making it 'hard' for the other side?

Except we make it easy for the other side though.

I honestly have no idea what we do in training.......

laps?

easy to watch the game and pass comment .
I can't do it mate end up going one it the other.

On the first half, disaster first 10-15 mins then we started to play reasonably well, keep it tight and try and pinch a goal was the plan ! We've been sloppy in dangerous areas and poor, still when the goal came it was still a surprise as Olympiakos haven't looked like much of a side. We need to pick up the pace here but we've seen this before and Moyes might react to this half sometime in March.
Let's see.

And people were wondering why people were criticizing the starting line up. If we on the caf can see that the lineup would always produce dour football, the manager should too. That said, even I didnt expect it to be this bad. Its ridiculous how poor we've been. We've setup poorly and proceeded to implement whatever plan we had even worse. You simply cannot revolve your play around 2 wank wingers, its criminal.

Worst thing is that the poor performance will be totally overlooked post match by Moyes and we'l hear the usual 'we were very unlucky' bullshit.

Why did Moyes move away from how he had the team set up in the last 2 games where it looked like we were making progress. We have gone backwards

Its the fecking formation. We did so well against palace, movement all over the park, short, incisive passing.

But here, back to a rigid four four fecking two. This limits our attacking play immensely. Why the feck can't Moyes see that? Why can't we be a bit more adventerous again OLYMPI feckING AKOS!!!!!

Fellaini to come in with the rescue act in the second half. Rio hoofball assist. Moyes has it all planned out.

That's actually not a bad idea. Fellaini on for Cleverly, and either Kagawa or Januzaj on for Valencia.

Won't happen like. I expect Giggs and Welbeck/Chico on before the others.

Flat 4-4-2, yaaaay!

This is what happens when you play to do nothing for 90 minutes...

We're struggling to get the ball out of our own half, it takes us about 30 passes to get out of our own half, it's been a disgrace, we're so deep and our tempo is ridiculously slow. Keane just said it isn't tactical, I think that might be why he failed as a manager, it absolutely is tactical, we came here to be solid defensively and nick a goal.

Why did Moyes move away from how he had the team set up in the last 2 games where it looked like we were making progress. We have gone backwards

Story of the season, 1 step forward, 2 steps backwards

Well that half was entirely typical. I don't know how Moyes thinks having us play as slow as possible is a good thing. Also why do the players run away from the person with the ball?
If Moyes says at the end that we played well, I will throw something through the TV. Wish MUTV would just say they have been shit.

Does Moyes seriously not know how bad we are....I mean does he see what we see?

Moyes is seeing a good shot of getting away with a 1-0 defeat here. That's almost as good as a draw.

Why did Moyes move away from how he had the team set up in the last 2 games where it looked like we were making progress. We have gone backwards

Because it's not really his football. That sort of football shouldn't be a tactic we sometimes used, it should be the basis for everything we do. But it's just not his game. Doubt it can ever be.

Dortmund have had an atrocious injury crisis and struggled immensely in Bundesliga yet scored 4 in Russia. Surely United can score once in Greece!
