Hopefully we can batter them in the first half so we can rest some players early in the second half.

BBC reckons this will be Otelul's line-up.

They didn't mention him. This was the only real bit of football info.

Key players Otelul's Sorin Frunza

Sorin Frunza. Experienced 32-year-old left winger. The only player in the squad with Champions League experience, having made five appearances for Unirea Urziceni in 2009/10, including against Rangers.
Otelul's Cornel Rapa

Cornel Rapa. Highly-rated 21-year-old right back who has already made five appearances for the national team.
Otelul's Gabriel Parashiv

Gabriel Paraschiv. Attacking midfielder, 33, who is most often used in a free role. Went to the chairman at the beginning of last season and asked for a 30% wage cut, stating that his performances for the team had not been good enough.

Galati to avoid 'embarrassment' | Football News | Sky Sports

Otelul Galati president Marius Stan admits avoiding humiliation will be the club's primary objective when they host Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

The Romanian minnows, making their debut in Europe's top club competition this season, are currently struggling halfway up the domestic league table and are without a point so far in continental competition.

Stan concedes leaving the National Stadium in Bucharest with their heads held high on Tuesday evening will be enough for his side.

He said: "The simple objective from this game is not to end up being embarrassed."

Coach Dorinel Munteanu was more optimistic in a pre-match press conference, insisting that is not Galati's sole aim.

He said: "That is the president's opinion, not our target."

Respectful

Galati lost 1-0 to Benfica a fortnight ago at the same ground, which is 150 miles away from their home on the Moldovan border - a venue which does not meet stadium regulations.

Reports after that game suggested the Romanian side were too respectful of their Portguese visitors, but Munteanu added: "It will not be like that again. I am convinced of that.

"I have only been a coach for five years, so it is fairly obvious to say this will be the biggest night of my career. But I intend there to be many more."

Munteanu admits he is in awe of counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson, who will celebrate 25 years in the United hot-seat early next month.

"It is amazing. Absolutely amazing," he said. "No-one will ever do that again. They won't even get close."

Hopefully we don't underestimate them. Otherwise, it would be us who are embarrassed!

I have actually never said this but...............

It's Berbatime.

I figure Sir Alex plans to play Rooney in both this game and at the weekend as he was rested for Liverpool.

This should negate Berbatov getting a game, I would suspect Welbeck and Chicharito will each lead the line in the next two games.

As far as Berbatov being back up for Rooney, it now seems he's behind Giggs for that position too.

I like this guy already, lets put on a show for them!

Put a strong team in and play some football. i hope we dont go for a smash and grab approach, they arent that good. need a good win to set the tone for the derby.

Fergie needs to play as many who wont start against City as poss, so I'd begin with Owen and Carrick, and hopefully Welbeck(!)

what? you serious? there's no way we should risk dropping points this game. 3 points out of 3 games will make it very very tough for us. I'd want us to play our best 11 and win the tie. perhaps a few tweaks at max to the line up.

Bollox

1) This game is more important than the Man City game.
2) A lot of players had none or just one international game + between the Galati - Man City games are 5 days rest + many have a rest next week against Aldershot

Lets get this sorted in the first half & then take off Rooney/Nani/Anderson(?) after 60 mins or so.

SAF has a habit of starting weak & putting on the big guns in the second half, which rarely seems to work out (Saturday being a notable exception, but I would have preferred them on from the start tbh).

We need to win this to take the pressure off for the rest of the group stages.

I don't understand why they should be taken off after 60 minutes or so. They were rested on Saturday and we have four full days of rest before Manchester City (most of them won't even get a minute at Aldershot, so it will be another week of rest after City match).

We need 3 points. Our 2-0 against Basel three weeks ago showed us that it doesn't always mean you'll finish the game with 3 points.

No match is won in advance, but some appear as easier......

However, I don't see the benefits of resting any players ATM. Instead, hopefully we can use this match to rebuild our confidence after a couple of mediocre matches. This is in my view important before the match against City.

......This is such a match, provided that we use a team of our best players.

We need 6 points off this lot and resting players in the away game isn't really what I would want to see us doing. Play as strong as you can tonight and based off the result you can rest players on the return leg, we should not underestimate anyone.

No it's not.

Yes it is, in terms of the result for sure. a draw against city wont really be a big deal long term. draw this game and we'd have 3 points of 3 games. that'l make it very tricky for us to quality. we'd need 7 points of the last 9. i'd much rather win tonight and draw the city game if you like.

It wouldn't surprise me if we draw this game tonight, with one eye on the weekend.

On the other hand, it'll be a businesslike 3-0 with our big guns taken off after 60 minutes.

I'd certainly look upon this game as being more 'must win' than City. However, losing at home to City on Sunday isn't an option.

agree. play the best 11 for this and the City game.
While I agree for the most part, Ferdinand is going to be rested, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of Young or Nani were rested in favour of Valencia. Wouldn't mind seeing Fabio get in at Right Back. Must win and I'm convinced we will.

I don't think we need to worry:

Under normal circumstances, a trip to face the ailing Romanian champions, sandwiched in between key Premier League fixtures against Liverpool and Manchester City would be the cue for Ferguson to rest many of his senior players.
As it turned out, the one player Ferguson did leave at home, other than currently injured duo Tom Cleverley and Rafael, was Rio Ferdinand given United have so far picked up only two points from their opening couple of games, ensuring all thoughts of the impending confrontation with the blue half of Manchester are set aside.
"Against Basle we became very complacent and it's not a tournament where you can afford to be complacent," said Ferguson.
"We have to win, so I'll play a strong team. But I can play several teams and they would still be strong enough to win the game
"The timescale for recovery is perfect for us, and it's the same for City as well."

No, It REALLY isnt, there is nothing more important than beating City Liverpool and Leeds.
