Our Rivals Squad next year - Arsenal

Especially when Roy leaves Paul out of the team.

I don't understand.

Theo Walcott tweeted a picture with him and Sanchez saying something like "watch out premier league, me and Sanchez will be a deadly force".

I assumed the two would be competing for a position?

Or is Wenger planning on playing Sanchez LW?

I don't think it was a serious analysis of Arsenal's planned tactical formations for the coming season.

21 year old Colombian sensation Juan Quintero (FC Porto) is supposedly in London and will be signing with Arsenal. 20m euros apparently.
Another sensational signing to be quite frank.

Arsenal will have signed: Alexis Sanchez, Ospina, Debuchy and Chambers this transfer window. Not bad for an alleged penny pincher.... ;)

No, Wenger will utilise Alexis as a CF.

That's so obvious man, come on.

Quintero coming in surely opens up the doors for Cazorla to leave? Even though Atleti president Cerezo have came out and denied their interest in signing Santi. If thats the case, Quintero would probably play in a different position. Mad talent.

Quintero would be a fantastic signing for arsenal. A proper playmaker. Would be the young player of the year IMO.

How can you even speculate on an award like that before he's kicked a ball?

Why do people think wenger will use sanchez in a position he's never played before?

Cause I've seen him kick a ball before?
That's like someone saying Diego Costa will be Player of the Year this season having never seen him in this league.

He turned Robin van Persie into a World Class CF and before that he always used to play on the flanks.

So, why not?

Why do people always think players are locked into one position. Christ, just look at the way Louis van Gaal utilises his players, playing them wherever he needs them to play.

Have you ever seen Kuyt play LB? Or Young play LB?

That's why they are football managers and we are not.

Because van persie had qualities useful to strikers. Sanchez has nothing in his game that suggests he could be a quality CF. Kuyt at LB was a waste of time.

They don't need him with Ozil in their team. One of the best playmakers in the world
Ozil is really more of an attacker than a playmaker. Quintero would give them better control of games and an ability to play out of tight spaces that they just don't have. Plus his shooting would be a threat to teams that park the bus against them.

he scored 17 goals last season. Thats a quality a forward needs.

Quintero would be wasted at Arsenal. He plays in the same spot as Ozil.

As I said, it's a good thing most of us aren't actual football managers, because what you typed there is a load of bs. :)

Nonsense, he clearly knows better than LVG and Wenger. He's just an undiscovered talent waiting for a big team to snap him up.

Yep, Santi, Ramsey, Ozil, Rosicky, Jack are terrible at 'playing out of tight spaces'....

Santi and jack are their best ones in tight spaces, and they are either injured or not playing in their right positions. Its not that they're terrible as such, they just aren't at the level they need to be to compete for CL's and such.

I'm guessing you don't watch Arsenal very much.

Van persie has the size and strength to deal with Center backs. Sanchez doesn't handle contact all too well.

Kuyt at left back is one of the most pointless moves I've seen a coach make, there was absolutely nothing genius about it. He doesn't have a left foot and reverted to cutting back and passing the center backs most of the time.

I think the 3 Arsenal players who have to start are Ozil, Ramsay and Sanchez. Then there are 3 spots to fill in the front 6. I think the best compliments to those guys would be 1 direct high-volume goalscorer, one defensively inclined player centrally and then someone to provide width and help out defensively. That leaves them most likely playing something like this:

1 of: (Podolski/-----Giroud/------Walcott/)
--------Sanchez------Ozil---------------------
------------------------------Oxlade-Chamberlain
---------------Ramsey
-----------------------
1 of:-------------------(Arteta/Giroud)

and then it will come down to form. Schnedeirlin or Khedira would really improve that bottom option.

Wilshere has the on the ball skill and mobility to be great as the deepest midfielder, but Wenger has never really moulded one of his ball playing midfielders into a Pirlo/Guardiola style 6. The other option to get him in is to drop Oxlade-Chamberlain, but I think he could potentially do some of the things that Di Maria did for Madrid and really be the right guy to complement Sanchez and Ozil with his pace and overall play.

If one of those forwards - and since each of them has played their best football at a different part of the front line, Wenger should be able to get decent platooned production from them by targeting different defenses based on height and personnel. The long term solution is to find someone as good overall as Giroud with the pace of Walcott and the finishing ability of Podolski, and now that Arsenal buy a top player in the summer, maybe they'll get that unicorn next year.

For now, it may cost them a serious run at the title.

Ramsay's health will be massive as well.

Glass legs handles contact fantastically, as his injury career has shown to us.

A sturdy, boxy, square Sanchez is obviously not suited to the English hard men, let alone playing him as a CF on a cold Monday winter night at Stoke.

By your definition of a striker, Suarez should also have failed miserably as he is size-wise very similar to Sanchez. However, he absolutely ripped this league to bits with his 31 goals, 12 assists and teeth.

For the love of the Universe stop babbling. You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

I have to agree.

He's never been a striker for either. He's either on the wing or behind the striker.

Incorrect. He was up front in his final season at Udinese before Barcelona bought him, having previously been used on the wing. He was also used next to Vargas up front for Chile with Vidal behind them both all tournament, again having previously been used on the wing.

Just because he turned RVP into a striker doesn't mean he'll turn Sanchez into one. RVP was 21 when he moved to Arsenal and was far off from his peak. Sanchez is at 25 and not many players change their role at this age. Besides from what I've seen of Sanchez, I don't think his finishing(which is probably needed for a striker) is upto the mark.

Arsenal need a proven striker and defensive midfielder to challenge City and Chelsea for the title. Giroud, Sanogo and Sanchez aren't good enough striking options for a title winning squad.
