PARK-A true unsung hero

I like Park, I really do...but at 0-1 it's really him and not nani/Valencia who needs to be coming off.

They're both more talented attacking players but it's not always that simple.

Park is better at playing quick passes in and around the box and with only Hernandez in the box you can see why Fergie thought he would get more success if Park stayed on instead of Valencia (who just likes to whip in crosses).

Park has a habit of getting important goals. Valencia was clearly knackered and had a poor enough game. Either could have been subbed.

He created the best chance of the second half with a lovely touch inside Kompany and another past Barry (?) as he was hacked down. We then hit the bar.

It amazes me how people still can't see past Park's hustling, can't see the quality he has when we're in possession, especially just days after that goal against Chelsea.

He was shit on a stick today. And he was extremely poor on the ball. The nuimber of times he ran the ball down a blind alley was very unusual for him.

Not surprising really, he ran himself into the ground during the week. I don't think he had another massive performance in him so soon after.

On tuesday we thought he is a fantastic player, today we think he's awful. Come on..

He always falls over, he's a work horse and good at winning the ball back, but when we are forced to attack he is out of his depth.

Nah I dunno, I didn't see that at all. Thought he picked up some smart positions and tried to provide a link between the midfield and Berbatov, it just didn't really come off. There wasn't a lot of options - Nani didn't really link up well with anyone, Berbatov just didn't really get into it and Valencia was very subdued - and Park's not really one to create something from individual brilliance. Not one of the best but not one of the worst at all.

Could be wrong though. It's just disappointing to see that as soon as he's judged to have a poor game it leads to people somehow coming to the conclusion he's a South Korean Paul Dickov.

The first 20 minutes today was the best I have ever seen Park play. He was destroying Chelsea out there to the point I was trying not to laugh.

Couldn't quite keep up that level for the full 90, but he was fantastic today.

He ran so much in the first half he was fecked by the end of the game. Great game from him today. Really is a big unsung hero in the squad.

Part of me hopes that was SAF telling Park to tone it down so Barca think he burns out after half an hour.

When he had that shot from near the corner flag in a crossing position, fecking hell.

He was played immense today. I used to think he was just a hard worker who chased the ball down and put pressure on opponents, but he's got a great all round game as proved today.

May have been his best performance for us, definitely deserved the man of the match award. Fantastic effort all round.

I found myself shouting at the TV and clapping him in encouragement when he got the ball.

He seemed to have found some incredible pace to go with his stamina. Park literally took the game by the scruff of the neck, and that thunderous shot from range. Wow... That was an outstanding performance and he was imperious against a very strong Chelsea side.

Please repeat that against Barcelona.

I don't think he can be called 'unsung' anymore - everyone acknowledges he is class.

Now he's just a hero :D

The stronger the opposition is, the more likely Park's appearance in the first XI is. Incredibly important player in our squad. 3 years ago I was a bit sceptocal but he proved me totally wrong.

Take a bow, Park.

His performance against Chelsea elevated him from "unsung hero" to "vital" in my eyes.

But we don'y like work horses like Park on here we need elegant players who can swan around and have some nice touches.

Park has been derided as just a work horse when in fact he is a very canny and smart player always finding space and more often than not making good decisions when in possession.

Park dovetails well with Giggs who likes to gravitate wide left whilst Prk gravitates to the central areas - this causes the opposition to find it hard to pick up the players.

His movement off the ball is special. He would be a fecking legend if he didn't shit himself inside the box.

Seriously though he has a fantastic attitude and he tries stuff he is not capable of. Makes a difference from players shying away from what they can do.

Park gets lashed for his weaknesses, and while I have seen many of his weaknesses, I am never sorry that he tries. I just wish he didn't panic so much. An inch more technical quality and he would be one of our best ever signings.

He tries so hard but lets himself down. Maybe he tries too hard. Can't blame him.

Maybe he's nackered a bit from all his runs into the box. He is pretty composed and I think he has stayed on his feet more this season which is his best in terms of goals - 6 in 27 appearances is not too shabby.

huh?

if you're expecting every winger to have a goals return like Ronaldo you're going to be very disappointed

For a wide midfielder/central midfielder, a return of 6 goals is not bad considering he was out for 2 months of the season

Maybe, always struck me as a bit panicky when he hits the box.

Brilliant in the middle third, has a few strokes of genius in the final third but more often than not lets nerves get the better of him.

That's how I see Park, can't blame him mind you. And what a fecking beast of a player anyway.

You denying Park loses his cool around the box?

Good luck with that one.

If Park loses his cool in front of goals then I want more!!

Winner vs Chelsea in CL second leg.
Winner vs Arsenal in the EPL
Second goal in our 7-1 drubbing of Blackburn
Winner and both goals against Wolves
Second goal in our 3-2 win over Wolves in the CC

Longer, on top of Asia cup and then the injury after, he had a bit of a slow start to the season from the WC and injury as well.

I never said he was shit, I think he is awesome, but the one thing that sticks out is that he tries too hard inside the box.

Seriously, do none of you see that?

Trying to hard is bad? He's had some brilliant strikes saved or blocked as well. If anything this season he seems more composed and also confident to take on a strike on goal.

SFraser is looking for perfection

That only exists in a small percentage of players in world football

every other player has their strengths and weaknesses. Park has contributed more and more each season in goalscoring and assists. What more do you want?

Park's scored some big goals this season, but it's the first time he's got past 5 goals in a season for us. I can definitely see where SFraser is coming from - if Park became more clinical he'd be an even better player for us, especially in the not-so-big games.

The fact that this is his best scoring season, with 7 goals in 26 games (a ratio better than one in four), indicates that he and the coaching staff have perhaps been working on it more than usual. Hopefully the improvement will continue so he can get even better in the seasons to come.

Have a feeling he's going to run the show at Wembley. Don't think Messi will be up to the task of man marking him.
