Things that can happen now :

2. He doesnt sign a contract, runs it down, leaves on a free next season with a bumper bonus for him and Raiola.

I think the first option is the only good one for us. Both the 2nd and 3rd are not gonna end well for us. You just know that his performance will drop after signing the new contract like De Gea. Although he will probably get a similar wage elsewhere, I dont think its worth it to us, destroying our wage structure(sell De Gea too while you're at it). Will hate to see him leave for free because that too will be fecking us over. You just know that Raiola is purposefully not accepting the 350k offer just because of that. Mata gets a pay cut and also new role to be fair. Jones’s wages is pretty much 4x lower than Pogba. DDG earn it after performing like world class on consistent basis prior 2019. If Pogba could actually perform like DDG 2013-2018 then he has a point to be offered crazy wages.

There's a huge risk involved in someone who will be 29 by the time their contract finishes, planning to leave on a free.

One big injury and his 4 year contract at £400k a week with a £20m signing on bonus turns into a third of that.

Would he risk a £80m contract guaranteed and on the table now (with a fee for United) for a £100m contract on the table in 12 months that could end up as very little with an injury?

In addition for the next 12 months he would be losing the difference between what his United salary is now and what his PSG salary would be (this might be £6m).

I think the human aspect is underappreciated as well - once you've decided on the next step of your career, most people are keen to get on with it, rather than waiting. He may think he's potentially missing a Champions League trophy, as well as domestic honours too by waiting.

Finally if he stays there's a risk of Ole using him sparingly. Why play a player who won't be particularly committed and who won't contribute long term when you have Fernandes, Rashford, Cavani, Greenwood, Sancho, Martial all vying for the same attacking positions? With the World Cup next Summer he will want to go into the tournament in good form and fully match fit.

It would have been easy for Varane, a player in a very similar situation, to wait for 12 months for a much bigger contract; however I'm sure for some or all of these reasons he opted to move this Summer.

I can see him doing very very well at PSG. Neymar and Mbappe running on to his through balls will be a field day. Compare it to PSG against City when Neymar was having to drop deep into midfield.

I want the transfer to happen more for his sake than anything because with Verrati and wjnaldum behind him, and Neymar and Mbappe in front, playing in AM role he'll shine.

At United he's had to contend with playing DM and having the likes of Rashford, Lingard and Greenwood be static and fluff chances, yes he's been inconsistent especially with injuries / covid but the way this forum and the opposition treat him as though he's some crap player is ridiculous. I cannot see that happening. One, maybe two of those signings could happen but not just based on moving Pogba on but others will need to be sold too which let’s be honest we are hopeless when it comes to selling our own players that are surplus to requirements.

Because there is nothing suggesting he is doing that at all. Raiola can try, but that would be dumb. That will break his relationship with us, and it will only hurt him long term if he does that. It is best for him that he does not do that if he wants to keep a working relationship. For PSG, this could help convince Mbappe to renew as well. Lastly, a year is a large time t and they could sign someone else in that time or he might get some injury and hurt his chances later.

Also, not like PSG are lacking money anyway. You can ask the same question for Varame, why did he not refuse to be sold to get a fat contract ?

In any case, there has been nothing to suggest that Pogba is refusing to be sold, all rumours are pointing that Pogba is willing to join PSG.

Seems like he'll run his contract down if no club wants to pay 40-50m. Often a club eager for the player will not wait once cheap enough but I think Pogba and Raiola will have been surprised over the last 5 years how many clubs have been luke warm over him. A fee plus a big wage are probably not in the offing but one or two clubs might consider his wage demands next year. Obviously covid won't have helped but if you really are fancied and seen as a top player they make it happen.

Pogba should've just let his Juve contract run down a few more years instead of joining us in 2016, that would've allowed a reluctant Perez at Madrid to get him much cheaper for Zidane. No, I agree, I want him out and he’s done nothing to warrant being one of our highest ever paid players, as my previous posts have said. But it remains ludicrous that we would have a policy at the club where we banish players to solitary training, simply because they’re in the last year of their contracts.
You either sell the player a year earlier, or you get the best out of them for the remaining twelve months. The fans are understandably disappointed in him, but by all accounts he’s a positive influence around the players and in the dressing room?

It's not a good idea in the long run though, is it?
He can train with the reserve team, he just should not be in a matchday squad (I'd have said he should be on the bench for every game but should come on only as a 90th min sub when needed to waste time, but that's too harsh).

The reason I say this is because it will discourage players to run down their contracts, will discourage teams to pick players in their peak age from us. They should know that if they want a player to run down their contract and join them, he will be coming with no top flight appearance for an entire season.

We cannot have players run down contracts and leave on a free in the peak of their careers, or hold us ransom for outrageous wages.
A player who is not motivated to play for the club is never a positive influence on anyone.

We are paying at least £34 for with add ons going to £40 mil plus for Varane so it will be at least the same not £30 mil. But as an attacking midfielder I suspect it would be higher (50-60 inc add ons)

I also think our hand is fairly strong as well as we are prepared to hold on to lose him for free.

I suspect pogba would prefer to go to real madrid so PSG will know that if they don't pay up now they will miss out so therefore offer fair price.

Anyone that's ever asked for a pay rise will know that the weakest argument possible you can take into your managers office is "He got paid x, so I want x". Pogba can ask for whatever he wants but he has to explain why he feels he's worth becoming the highest paid player at the club in regards to what he brings to the team on and off the field. In fact the opposite, some of us are aware he is in fact world class (as any of his peers within the professional game will tell you) and how will be losing a very talented midfielder and won’t replace him with somebody as talented. Which will affect the clubs performances.

We’ve nobody to progress the ball from deep, nobody with match winning ability from midfield (I’m excluding Bruno in that.)

If we sign a defensively sound but lesser player than Pogba then we will have everything going through Bruno again like when Pogba was injured.

Bruno needs him to stay to get a feckin break. Nobody else in that midfield will create so much as a fart in an attacking sense. Some here though are fine with that, some of us aren’t.
