Paul Pogba

Was he? We must have seen a different game.

From what I saw he gave the ball away A LOT especially in the first half. Got a little better in the second half. Still seems unable to collect/control the ball with and pass with one touch. Seemed to me that his decision-making is a little on the slow side.

Park opened up Aldershot on several occasions, more so than any other player - most notably for the Berbagoal, and the passes that released Berbatov and Valencia in the second half.

I can't really understand SAF's line of thought on this issue. He first says that one of the reasons why he hasn't spend money in midfielders was that he's got Pogba and if he doesn't play him he's going to leave and then....he only use him for around 80 mins in 2 meanless games. Is that the way he's going to show him that he's got a future at OT? Surely the next Viera deserves better

Probably that's because you're a moron.

Maybe, but if I was a promising player I wouldn't stay at OT just because I played 40 mins against mighty Aldershit.

That is why you are a mere fan and Pogba is a pro. Only a fan could believe games like the one vs Aldershot are meaningless.

Do you think a young pro will turn the chance of playing regular football with a decent side because his manager gave him 40mins against Aldershit?

Are you insane? He's 18 years old. It's not like Europe's top clubs are lining up £40 million bids for him.

He's had to adapt to the English game, the English mentality, and now he's slowly starting to get his chances in the side. His time will come, don't you worry about that.

Also, yeah, I'd imagine he'll turn down the chance of playing regularly for a decent side, because he's at one of the worlds top 5 clubs at the moment. I wouldn't swap that for Villa or West Brom until I'd have given it a damn good shot at making it at United.

You are a crazy and illogical man.

Goodness, players need to be groomed. There's a progressive path to the 1st team. Players understand that and you dont. You dont just pick a promising player and play him straight in a PL match.

He's 18 yrs old and he's said to be promising. Im sure that he can get more first football minutes with teams like Sunderland or even Arsenal if he wanted to. I can't understand why we're not giving him more matches. Its not as if we've got world beaters in CM at the mom.

You make me want to stab things.

You're absolutely mental. An 18-year old midfielder could never expect to be a regular player anywhere.

Poor devilish has always struggled with the concept of Football.

He'll surely get more then 80 minutes against third rated sides that's for sure.

He's not ready yet. I think you may see him later on in the season in home games where we're comfortable.

On the one hand he's saying that people shouldn't get carried away about Morrison, on the other hand he's saying Pogba isn't getting enough games...logic.

Yeah - he should leave United asap, clearly. We've a terrible record bringing youth through :wenger:

Anyone remember that little ginger lad who made his debut in the league cup against port vale a few years ago? Nah, me neither. Maybe the fecker couldve achieved something if hed stuck around.

Yes, at Middlesbrough or Colchester. Why the feck would he leave a huge club for some minnow side that will play him when he could potentially have an astonishing career with us? Do you even know what you're talking about or do you just post random stuff in hope that some of it will end up being coherent enough?

I especially like's his mobility and willingness to participate in tight situations and help his team mates. His first touch looked good and he controlled the ball well and had a mature balance between long and short passes.

You do realise that players achieving their potential doesnt just depend on playing 1st team football from as early in their career as possible, right? Had that been the case, top teams in the world would never be able to keep hold of their best talents.

You misunderstood my point. Pogba is not a homegrown talent. If someone else steps in (Arsenal?) promising more first team chances then he'll probably considers it. Bottom line of the story 2 halfs against shitty sides wont convince a promising kid to turn down an offer of regular football and remain here.

Now my opinion is this if he's good enough then he should play. After all its not as if we've got world beaters in CM

Is it me, or does he look ridiculously slow?

Don't get me wrong, lad looks to have a nice range of passing and seems comfortable with the ball, but there seems to be an awkwardness and lack of pace to his running that to me might get exposed by better midfielders.

I would sit on the bench for two years straight if it meant making it at United, I would choose that over going to Arsenal and playing regularly for them (which Pogba wouldn't). Foreign or not it's most likely what Pogba thinks too.

Nope, just you.

But seriously, he looks a little ungainly sometimes - think there's an element of him being a teenager and still growing into his body and an element of him having a gangly physique (similar in ways to Kanu, Crouch etc.). But his footwork is very good and he's fast enough running (with and without the ball). I was really pleased with him yesterday, after a slightly frenetic five minutes of fouling people, he really settled into the match - always showing for the ball, playing it simple, and hitting a couple of lovely crossfield balls

No doubting his technical ability at all. For a tall lad he's got nimble feet and I liked his close control and willingness to spray the ball forward...I just noticed his speed because there were occasions he was defending against league 2 players and looked half a yard slower. Hard to judge on that basis I know but for some reason I felt he's not as quick as I'd first thought...

Will need to watch some more Academy games to see what he's like running full pelt.

Don't forget that being a league 2 player doesn't somehow make someone slower - their right winger last night was a nippy player. Pogba isn't fast, but I certainly wouldn't describe him as slow.

He's a young lad and I bet he's chuffed to bits that he's been given that chance yesterday. Fergie was recently talking about bringing youngsters into the first team which says that he's got half an eye on finding a way to bring them through.

He was never going to feature much this season. Will probably go out on loan next season. SAF's quotes on that matter were more some kind of excuse why we didnt go for someone.

Excited for this lad. Hope to see more of him. I remember giggsy's autobiography when he felt at 17 that he could have played all the 1st team games. But in hindsight, he remember a game where after playing brilliantly, fergie dropped him for an away league game against leeds united. Though he felt disappointed, he saw from the bench how the seasoned pros struggled and were kicked lumps. He realized fergie's wisdom of leaving him out since his confidence would have taken a battering.the games he played had to be carefully selected, although this annoyed lots a fans and medi alike. Pogba and Morrison are being wrapped carefully so as to protect them, the long term plan it to surely build a team around them. But they must be nurtured first.

You're talking as a fan here

And you're talking as someone who makes up an odd scenario to prove a point. How did you even come to a conclusion that Arsenal are going to make a bid for him and he will consider and possibly accept it?

To be fair, I think the way we are treating Rooney is outrageous. It's not that he doesn't play, he does, but we force him to play next to Nani and Young when he could play next to superior players like Messi and Fabregas at Barcelona. I think Ferguson is an idiot for playing him next to Nani and Young, won't be surprised if Rooney leaves when Barcelona come with a bid and Ferguson will be the one to blame if he does leave for £2m because Glazers might have put such clause in his contract.

Serious question, is devilish the most boring, predictable and retarded cnut on this forum?

With his height and build he's never going to have the acceleration to match stumpy-legged short arses. He's plenty quick though, as we've seen when he's played wide right for the reserves.

How tall is he? I can't imagine more then 6'2, 6'3...

After 5 (in game) years on my FIFA 12, I was disheartened to find that Pogba, now aged 22, is only a 69... I fear lads, his talent will peak soon....

Do you think a young pro will turn the chance of playing regular football with a decent side because his manager gave him 40mins against Aldershit?
Yes. Especially if the club he is getting matches at is of the caliber of Manchester United. I mean, just ask Berbatov and Owen if their game time yesterday was meaningless.....

To me, he looks like a promising young player with a lot more development to come. League Cup ties against lower league opposition are about his level right now and he certainly doesn't look ready for Premiership football.

I'm sure there's a new trend for people to expect every player to be fully developed by the age of 18 and, if not, they're considered ready for the scrap heap. If Pogba has half a brain he'll realise that he still needs to improve in a lot of areas before he can be trusted with a first team spot.

Very odd argument to suggest that, just because he's 18 and is starting to form into a good player, he'd instantly expect to be playing Premiership matches and will demand a move away if not.
