Pogba agrees United deal | Football News | Sky Sports

This is the only passage that seems like it might be even remotely new information:

"It is now understood that Pogba has elected to continue his career with the reigning champions and has agreed terms with the club."

The rest is just a summary of the last few weeks of rumours coupled with yesterday's sub appearance.

Good news if true.

Entering muppet mode, it better not stop Fergie buying a new midfielder. He's still nowhere near first team level. Send him on loan

I hope it's true, but for the reputation of the club, rather than because of the player's potential. I think it would reflect badly on United to lose two young prospects on the cusp of the first team in such a short space of time.

Very optimistic to say either are/were in the cusp of the first team. If they were we never would've brought Scholes back.

They were going to get involved a little bit more.

I think there will be more cameos for young Pogba in the coming weeks. I'd like to see him start Thursday to be fair.

I know we need goals but a midfield 3 of Pogba, Cleverley and Anderson would be very interesting indeed.

Something must have happened last week for Fergie to have thrown him back into the squad after all the speculation. Really good news if true, and the signing could save thhe club £10-20m in bringing in another midfielder with huge that much potential.

If by interesting you actually mean disastrous, then I'd agree fully.

Well they were training with the first team and have made first team appearances. I would describe that as being on the cusp of the first team. To clarify, I'm talking of matchday squad, rather than first xi.

Read this a few times, surely the Morrison situation was far different...We chose to let him go imo

I would tend to agree, however it still looks a bit bad that we couldn't provide him the incentive/motivation to sort himself out and take his opportunity. It could be argued that It's all down to him and he won't make it anywhere, but only time will tell.

Not at all. Anderson and Cleverley play some good stuff together. Pogba would be a wildcard but who knows.

Maybe we should play Park or Rafael in there again if you would like to see disaster...

Bilbao ran us silly in midfield first game. I'd be interested to see Ando and Clev play together again and obviously want to see what Pogba is capable of.

It also stems from the fact that I'd want to see Carrick and Scholes nowhere near the fecking pitch on Thursday night.

Youth team coach said years ago it could go either way with Ravel. It still could...his attitude is ridiculous.

The problems we saw against Bilbao were all caused by our ineffectiveness without the ball. If we want to beat Bilbao, Carrick must play. If we are not really arsed about the Europa which is probably the case, then we should play 3 in the middle without Carrick, and the personnel doesn't really matter as there will not be any defensive minded player among them anyway.

By all accounts, that's an impossible task.

Agreed to a degree. We also lost the midfield battle because we played with no pace, gace the ball away far too much and were completely static offering no out ball.

I have made my attitude to the Europa League clear I suppose, I'm not overly arsed and it's a consolation prize. I'd see it different if we were in it from the beginning.

fantastic news...good to hear the lad finally made the right choice.

If only that half-wit wannabe gangsta had done the same. Oh well, his loss...

Carrick will play, and once again he'll get overwhelmed by midfielders who

1) Press him everytime he's got the ball

2) Don't give a feck about our reputation as Englands best.

Bilbao have learnt from Barca that beating us in midfield is about making sure the likes of Carrick and to some degree Scholes / Giggs don't have space to operate in. They have the energy to press us, and know we aren't going to have the pace or willingness to dribble past them. That means our game is reduced to passing to the flanks which they can then cover.

I'd love to see Ando and Cleverly play (though i doubt it will happen). We need to match their energy and their ability to run with the ball through the middle. Then they'll have to respect our midfield and it'll create chances for our forwards.

Great news if true. SSN Sources tend to be right most of the time.

I've just had a text from the old man saying he has signed...is the mayhem of this thread over?

As soon as Carrick came on, our performance improved. But I guess moaners won't be able to see that. All this Carrick can't play when pressed is amazingly retarded.

I knew it, I knew it, all you people doubting him and having a go at him him and his beautiful agent should all be ashamed off yourselves. Nothing to worry about.

Can't help but feel the Hamsik connection kicking in ;)

From what I heard both offically and off the record the club went a lot further than they usually would in trying to deal with his issues. His relationship with Joyce completely broke down a long time ago. Numerous reports of him missing training....absolute waste of talent if he continues down that road.

Cleverley and Anderson have been out for long periods. I doubt they can provide the energy to match Athletico. I'd just go with Anderson, Cleverley, and Pogba as our midfield.

Rio, Evans, Evra, Carrick, Scholes, and Rooney should all be rested.

I'm not sure if money was the sticking point, I have a feeling that he wanted assurances that he would be involved in the first team squad and given more chances in the starting line up.
