In my opinion we should let him go. It had been dragging now for far too much.

Having said that, I wont be surprised if United are keeping everything tense so that they'll portray it as a big achievement/new signing for them.

:lol: Wtf? Do you really have such a low opinion of the Utd hierachy Devilish? It seems to me that no matter what they do you will try to spin it as though they are gaining some sort of twisted political advantage by deliberately misleading the fans.

Truly bizarre! Do you honestly think they have nothing better to do than run a long standing contract saga of a promising youngster through the media for months on end, for no other reason than to boost their public image in the eyes of the fans? I mean come on now, really?

I've been watching United long enough to notice that sometimes we're stubborn. It happened after the treble when the likes of Irwin, Johnsen, Berg and Stam left/got injured and were never really replaced with quality (we insisted on the likes of Mickey, Wes and Blanc until we finally decided to bring in Rio). It also happened after Schmeichel left (Barthez was a big name but the rest were shit) right till we got VDS and I feel that the same thing is happening in CM.

I wont be surprised if we end up not signing a CM just because we've got Pogba who will be 'like a new signing for us'

Finish like Cantona? So after 5 years at the club he'll suddenly retire? Bloody hell, he's been here three already!

Stubborn is one thing, deliberately and intentionally conspiring to mislead fans is another thing entirely. I would agree with the point you made in this post to an extent, SAF has been slow at times to address certain weaknesses in the squad. But the way you phrased it was unnecessarily conspiratorial considering underneath it you had a fair point to make.

But in the end he usually does seem to find the right player, so he may be stubborn in terms of him not being bullied by fan or media opinions into making reckless knee jerk signings. But i don't see him deliberately 'keeping things tense' to justify not signing anyone. That was a speculative leap too far in my view.

Hate to break it to you mate but you're taking life way to seriously. This is not a government conspiracy, he's talking about his opinions which he has backed up quite well.

We all make fun of Wenger for not buying players to fill in obvious holes, and yet our own Fergie is just as stubborn about that sort of thing. We've needed a CM just as long as it's been apparent that Wenger needs a great CB.

We all know Fergie is stubborn and when he's set in his way, that's where he's going. You either see Fergie as the new Wenger in not buying but rather bringing in young cheap players, throwing out the 50% that don't work. Or you accept Fergie has done that in the past and him and Wenger aren't so different.

Think how many strikers we've gone through in the last five years. I bet it's the same amount of CBs for Wenger.

I have accepted his stubborness. What i don't except, as was the incinuation, that fergie is deliberately misleading fans over the Pogba saga to justify not signing someone in the summer.

I have also been a vehement critic of Fergie's policy on midfield ever since and before me joining the caf. So you judge me harshly in that sense, and you will note i accepted and agreed with Devilish once he had clarified his point better.

It was the over dramatic nature of his initial incinuation i disagreed with, not the overall gist of his point.

If Pogba does leave it's not exactly an insurmountable loss is it?

Talent wise No! Not at all.... But looking at it from a financial perspective its a 20 Million quid loss maybe as that is what it might cost us for a similar replacement!
But we poached him anyways so you get some world class players on the cheap and you lose the odd one along the way. Can't complain about that!!

I don't know, but I've got a feeling he'll sign.

The media for me have just paid to much and have just hyped it up too much. If the boy is smart, he'll definitely sign cause all possible signs are good, if he really wants to join Juventus, then good luck to him cause I"m pretty sure he'll regret working with SAF.

I don't get why Juventus.

I can completely understand someone young and keen on experience like Ramsey opting for the Gunners but Juventus? They have more of an established midfield than we and is it not evident by bringing Scholes out of retirement, that a slot may very well open up in the near future?

If he signs for Juventus we'll receive less than £1 million for him.

If that happens he can go feck himself

Manchester United are not pressuring Paul Pogba to make a quick decision regarding his future. The midfielder is deciding whether to swap Old Trafford for Juventus, although the Italian club have made no "firm" offer, according to Mino Raiola, his agent.

Raiola was in Manchester on Thursday for talks with United who are keen for the 19-year-old to sign a new deal when his contract expires in the summer. Pogba is also interesting Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Internazionale and Milan.

Raiola said: "We are talking to Manchester United [and] we know there is the interest of Juventus. I had a very good meeting with the club – several, yesterday also. It's obviously not my decision, it's the player's and that's it. It was absolutely a good meeting with Manchester United, yes."

Will Pogba wait until the end of the season to take the decision? "No, I think he'll make the decision when his heart and head is ready to make the decision and there is no date fixed on that," said Raiola, who added that United have not told the player they require a decision by July for the new pre-season. "Manchester United is behaving like a true gentleman's club, giving the boy all the space to decide. They know it is a difficult decision and [he is] a young boy. So it doesn't make any sense and wouldn't be right to pressure."

Pogba's wage demands have led to the impasse, with the midfielder wanting a deal in the region of £15,000 to £20,000 per week, although Raiola denied Juventus have made a firm offer. "No. Let me tell you it's not true," he said. "Now, we didn't have negotiations yet with Juventus because we think first the boy has to decide what he wants to do. It doesn't make sense to go around saying this or that. You make a decision and then you sit down and you come to a deal.

"Paul has to decide for himself what he wants to do. Manchester United is a fantastic club, I think it's one of the best, if not the best in the world, for various reasons. And it's very difficult for a boy who has an opportunity to go to clubs to leave a big club as Manchester United, or to leave the interest of other clubs. I know that is difficult and a very hard [decision] to make and it can be career deciding, because you make a decision now and you only know when you're 35 if you make the right decision."

Raiola would not be drawn on what Pogba believes are the advantages of staying with United or joining Juventus. "I don't think that's an answer that I have to provide. This is something within him and he has his own decision to make and his own criteria," he added.

Do you think that clubs do not mislead fans? Have you ever seen MUTV? The likes of Lou Macari and Paddy Crerand makes you feel that this team is at par with the treble side. Regarding SAF how many times had he said one thing (example there won't be any more signings) to then do something completely different. Wake up mate, this is business. If the club can afford to appease the fans and such strategy will cost them nothing then they will do it.

PS I am not demonizing our club, I mean every club in the world does it. To be fair, we're not amongst the worst bunch. Galliani makes the likes of Gill look like saints.

This whole saga isn't 'appeasing the fans' though. Even if he does eventually sign a new contract alot if fans will find it fairly worrying that its taken 6 months or more to persuade a completely unproven youngster that we're a club worth playing for. At best it'll be a relief if he stays, not a cause for celebration.

According to this article........my italian isn't so good but i've understand most of it.

- Juventus want a answer from Pogba/Raiola in the next days.
- Juventus are confident that Pogba will not sign a new contract for Manchester United.
- Manchester United have made a very good contract offer for Pogba a couple of months ago but no answer from Pogba/Raiola so far.

Hasnt Raiola already confirmed that they dont got an offer from Juventus?

I find it hard to believe United couldn't easily accommodate those wage demands if they think he has a future.

I only saw glimpses from the reserve match yesterday but he didn't seem to do much except overhitting a couple of free kicks badly.

Yesterday was by far the worst performance I've seen from Pogba. Don't judge him on that performance.

Didn't watch last night's game but he's been very hit and miss for the reserves this season in the games I have watched. By no means our most impressive performer.

I still think he'll go on to be a very good player but he's definitely not reached that "too good for reserve football" stage you see with most young players when they're really pushing hard for regular first-team football.

Maybe his mind's in Turin? :smirk:

One would expect an offensive midfielder to not be shite when your team score six goals.

He does look more of an impact player (like Gerrard) instead of a pulling the strings kinda player, like say Scholes.

Yeah, whilst he's probably our most talented midfielder in the reserves, my one big gripe with him is that he doesn't know how to run that midfield like he should be doing. He's too happy to be on the periphery.

Also, I'm not sure if he's told to do this, but I find it strange how he runs off up the pitch when his midfield partner has the ball. He should be looking to link up play more instead of occupying a fullback, which he did quite a lot last night. I think he's going to be a cracking player though.

I read somewhere that Chelsea got Lucas Piazón as Juve wouldn't pay him the 1m a year that he wanted. The rumours that they have offered Pogba 1.2m a year would certainly contradict past dealings.

Shit statement. Its two different players. Its like saying we wouldnt pay Samir Nasir £170k per week so why would we pay Lionel Messi or Ronaldo £200k per week.

Pogba picked up an injury early on and it took a while to heal. He was very good in the second half I thought. United came from 3-0 down to win 6-3 and take the title. Pogba's ability to keep the ball and then pick a pass were to the fore despite being heavily targeted for some pretty rough challenges.

Piazón was very, very highly rated. He was a very good performer for the youth sides in Brazil and in São Paulo's youth sides. t's completely different to the players you mentioned. Messi and Ronaldo are the best in the world, and Nasri is a fiar bit behind them two. Back to the point, Piazón argubably had a bigger pedigree than Pogba, and I don't see them paying Pogba that level of money, when they wouldn't for Piazón.

 We should secure him for his healing powers alone.

I've watched a fair bit of reserve football this season and Petrucci has been our best player. Pog has been flashy but inconsistent - not as productive as Petrucci.

Pogba is obviously a cross between Jesus and Vieira then. Petrucci was very good, he's really coming on now he's fitter and stronger.

Gianluca Di Marzio says now Pogba to Juventus is verbally agreed.

5-year contract and he'll be on €1.2 mill per year.

Oh feck this. Still so many contrasting reports. General feeling in Manchester/UK is that he'll stay, but in Italy it's that he'll sign for Juve. Past caring anymore, want him to make up his mind either way.

Cheers.

I think he'll go, he clearly doesn't want to be here otherwise he would have signed a new contract a couple of months ago.

Have to agree with you. We will have offered him a very good contract, so if he wanted to stay I also reckon this would have been tied up a while ago.
