Maybe he wants to see who we buy and sell/retire in the summer to decide if he would have enough opportunities here before committing himself.

If that's the case he'll probably be waiting until the end of August.

I'm sure the subject of whether or not he'd be getting opportunities or not next season would have come up in the contract discussion with us.

At first i was convinced that he would stay. But i feel it sounds like the Agent is looking for the club to match or better the offer from Juve.

I'm not even bothered anymore. If he had any sense, he would have signed a long time ago.

He's the one losing out, not United or it's supporters.

By saying that there isn't a firm offer from Juve?

The Agent told Talksport that it was a straight choice between Juve and United ,so i'm guessing he must have some inclination of what Juve are offering.

Yes he probably does know what they are offering, but that's not to say the club does. So I don't see how what he has said is a ploy to make us pay more. He said that Pogba will decide which club he wants to play for and then the contracts will be discussed/sorted. I don't think his decision is based on money.

mm, money has to be a part of it. it is at the core of any contract negotiation. if it was as simply as playing time, silverware, opportunity...then United is it. should have signed eons ago if that was the case.

If it was money then it would take 30 seconds to decide.

Juve offer £20k per week and pay his agent vs. United offer £15k per week and Pogba has to pay his own agent. United refuse to budge. Juve it is.

He's obviously seeing how much of a chance he is given. His agent has said that he's going to decide very soon.

The part in bold is debatable. Obviously we win more than Juve, but Pogba might see Juve as a stepping stone to bigger things if they are willing to play him more. Anyway, we're covering old ground here. Let's just see what happens.

My thought is that if he were going to stay he would have signed by now.

Injured his ankle ligament in the reserves match on monday and there is out of the season now.

Just waiting for the conspiracy theorists now. "he's obviously refused to sign the contact and decided to go to Juve and Ferguson has given up on him and told him he's not going to play again."

Good riddance.

People need to calm down. He's a united player. What makes it 'obvious' he's refused then?

He took a knock to his ankle last game. Most people could see that. If people waited then they might not have to retract shit they say. The worst was vidic, with people calling him a cnut. No smoke without fire. Dicks. The boy just might be in two minds.....

Did he go off injured during the reserve game?

No but that don't mean anything. Players very rarely in a season play without a minor injury at some point. He spoke to the medical people. I doubt he wanted to come off, it was the game for the title.

I'm still a bit baffled by all this anger too. He hasn't said anything to disrespect the club, he's merely deliberating over where the best place to commit his future for the next five years is. He wont be the first young player to deliberate over this, that's for sure. It's not like the Morrison situation where there are serious attitude problems either. He's not a manc, he's not English and so you can't expect him have the sort of ingrained loyalty that any of us would have if we were in his position. The way I see it is that he's one of the most talented players to progress through the academy for a few years now and it would be really disappointing to lose him. I'd be delighted if he eventually signed and gutted if he left, but until he makes that decision let's reserve judgement.

SAF on MUTV on Pogba "We've agreed a deal with his agent. It's now down to the boy. He's at the right club+is going to be a 1st team player"

Ok that's really really encouraging. Hopefully Pogba stays then.

Fergie clearly doesn't know which the cat is going to jump - he's still sending messages through the media. He's mentioned the 'first team player' bit every time he's been interviewed.

It's a pity the kid has been injured - if we could have given him a few more tastes of first team football......

Man Utd waiting for Paul Pogba to decide on new deal

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says the club is waiting on midfielder Paul Pogba to decide whether he wants to sign a new deal.

The 19-year-old has been the subject of speculation over his future with Juventus linked with making a move.

But Ferguson said terms have been agreed with the Frenchman's agent and the club is now just waiting on Pogba.
"The boy has great potential and he is at the right club. He has to make that decision," Ferguson told MUTV.

"We have agreed a deal with his agent. Now it is just down to the boy."

Pogba's first team chances looked restricted particularly when fellow midfielder Paul Scholes came out of retirement at the age of 37.

But the Frenchman had returned to the first team squad in recent weeks, making seven substitute appearances, before he was ruled out for the rest of the season with ankle ligament damage.

Meanwhile, Reds striker Will Keane, 19, who made his senior debut against Blackburn earlier this season, is set to go out on loan next year.

Ferguson said: "Will is progressing the right way. The lad is a good finisher and has good potential.

"He needs a bit of toughening up and next year we will possibly put him out on loan. That would be good for him."

That goes without saying, but that doesn't mean we don't concentrate on other issues at the club.

I don't get the whole thing about agreeing with his agent. Surely if he has agreed the deal it is based on his client wanting the deal and the agent advising his client it is good?

Well, I remember posting a few days ago that it must be clear what's on the table at this stage, and this more or less confirms that. Again, you have to ask why the kid is taking so long to make up his mind.

A pessimistic interpretation is that the agent is doing a Pontius Pilate on the deal. Pogba wants to string us along until he's out of the club and can dump us from afar, but the agent wants to preserve his relationship with the club, and doesn't want to be part of an apparent deception. So he says to United 'I think what you're offering is acceptable, it's now up to the boy' and washes his hands of the outcome.
