I don't get why everyone is so fixated with the kid. We have had lots of 'promising' kids leave or not make the grade over the years. If he is truly good enough he would have probably broke through by now. As it stands he has potential that is all. If he stay great, if he goes adios.

Fergie just said yesterday he is guaranteed to become a united first team regular for years to come.

Nope. Fergie said he already considers him a first team squad player, it's just up to him whether or not he wants to stay. We've agreed a deal with his agent.

Also he's out for the rest of the season through injury.

So CM is sorted now. value. ;)

Yep. If Fergie truly thought he was ready he'd have given him some real game time, rather than a few minutes when everything has been decided. At the moment it looks as if he's dangling the carrot of first team football to persuade the kid to sign the contract, without having sufficient confidence to play him when anything important is at stake.

We are in the crucial end of a title race. Fergie has to play our best eleven, and Pogba is not going to take the place of Scholes or Carrick in midfield. There is no way Fergie can start him at this point in the season.

Scholes started to play regularly at 19-20 years old, and Pogba turned 19 a month ago. If he's still here next season, I'd fully expect him to play a fair few games. Just because he hasn't played a heap of games this season, does not mean he isn't good enough.

True - but he hasn't started him at any point in the season.

Clearly, if Fergie didn't think Pog was a future first teamer, he wouldn't be trying so hard to keep him. But equally clearly, he doesn't think he's yet ready.

you are correct, Scholesy didn't make his full debut until a couple of months before his 20th birthday.

I listened Raiola, done deal between him and United. He suggested to the player to stay at United because is a biggest club, with a great manager and italy is in a big decline as League and as a country.

But Pogba has to decide and he has the last word.

Brilliant news if true.

Also Raiola said this in Italian Media: 'few minor details' missing & his client Paul Pogba is 'very close' to agreeing a renewal at #MUFC

Here's the whole quote by Fergie on Pogba:

“We’ve agreed a deal with his agent. It’s now down to the boy. I think he’s about to make his decision soon. He knows what the qualities United have got to offer. He knows his future is guaranteed here. He’s going to be an outstanding footballer, there’s no question about that. He’s going to be a first-team footballer at Manchester United there’s no question. Hopefully we will get some good news on that soon.”

On a side note, SAF needs to start a show called 'Ripley's is there a question about that or not!', or maybe it would be better just to make it 'Things there are questions about', there seems to be much fewer of those.

Well that sounds like good news doesn't it? Hope this sad saga is over soon.

I don't know, after the whole Morrison and Pogba fiascos, I just enjoy watching the youth teams (Daehli, Barmby and the like) much more than Pogba, and am almost indifferent to him. I don't see why we are so desperate to make him stay. If he has such trouble now, I don't see why he won't leave when someone offers bigger money. I guess I'm just indifferent to him now. Good luck to the lad, but I can't say I'm a fan of the way he has handled this.

He is a kid for christs sake - in a foreign country. We struggled with Rooney, Brown, Ferdinand and Roy Keane - the latter practically blackmailed us into scrapping our wagesystem back in 1999 or 2000. Why not give Pogba the benefit of the doubt

I was (and to some ages still am) a kid in a foreign country myself, so I don't really have much sympathy for that. Like I said, good luck to the kid. I just fear for the future if he is so willing to hold us hostage or leave now. when he is a bigger star or better player, he may be more likely. Just what I think.

The best case scenario of course, is that he stays, develops love and connection to the club and stays with us long term.

I think Pogba just wanted reassurance that he was highly rated here and close to the first team. He's being asked to commit the next few years here and he obviously thought it wise to wait and see how his season plays out and to see if he is going to get chances. He'll have seen the likes of Gibson come through without ever having consistant football and thought that he doesn't want to and up like that, not when he has a great club like Juventus after him. He may not have got that chance again if his career stalled.

I just think he's the real deal, I can't wait to see him playing on a regular basis. I even doubt he will need a loan spell, I think he'll be a League Cup mainstay next season, with other run outs depending on injuries & his League Cup performances & 1st team the season after.

And :nervous: you can quote me on that...

Good news if true.Really feel that he will be a star for United if he stays.

Don't see the comparison with players like Keane or Rooney myself.

The only comparison I was trying to make was that there have been other players who have waited a long time before signing a new contract....and we kinda accepted them. Why any different for a kid like Pogba ?

Well because Keane was our captain and Rooney our best player. Bit different to some young kid who has not done anything of note in football yet alone for the club.

Yeah, I like him. Gotta say that I'd be excited it we were signing him from somewhere else so yeah I'm looking forward to seeing him play a lot next season.

This is probably the single biggest decision he will make in his life, and with so much advice coming at him and pressure from many sides you can't blame him for taking his time. If it's all settled now then forget it. He's a United player for the foreseeable future and we should all get 100% behind him.

'Fourth_Official' on Twitter has said he has joined Juventus on a free. Nice timing if true.

He's usually on the pulse so there could be more on it tonight if anyone is bothered.
