He has won 2 Serie A titles in 2 years and was in the team of the season this year; he has become a starter for France; he has displaced Marchisio at Juventus and provides cover for Andrea Pirlo; he is on the radar of Real Madrid. Why is it a bad decision (for him)?
He's has nothing to be bitter about. He's done well for himself. So, why the agenda? Maybe he knows he f**ked up his United career and can't let the constant nagging feeling go.

I've been sort of following his comments: most of them are when he is prompted to talk about United- he has stuck to this line pretty much all along. In the middle he also admitted that he liked his time here but he didn't like the fact that SAF never trusted him, specifically mentioning the Park-Rafael match vs Blackburn.

I don't see why he should have signed the contract here given that he had never got playing time- he clearly felt he (or his talent) had earned it, and Juventus (whose midfield is better than ours btw) agreed. He has gone there and proven it.

Honestly, I think that if SAF had given him the kind of time Januzaj had got this season he would be our superstar right now, it's simply something we got wrong.

I think going for Juventus has completely exceded what he expected for his career.Every party made AT THE TIME the best decision, Pogba left for a club that wanted him and SAF got rid of a player he didn't like the attitude of. Judging in hindsight about how SAF should have kept him instead is way too easy

I half-agree with this, but I do think his talent was obvious even then, this is what Buffon was quoted as saying at Juventus:
"He's one of those players who leaves you with your mouth wide open," Buffon said to Italy's Italia Uno channel. "We all asked ourselves, after seeing him train with us for the third or the fourth time, when he was still unknown, whether the people in Manchester couldn't see very well."

I'm not saying he wasn't that good, no one thought he'd become one France's best player and most important player so quickly and he hasn't reached that status now.Since his first cap he looked like perfect for the national team. Same logic applies to Varane too, their progress has been amazing.

Pogba didn't deserve first team football at that time. Scholes and Carrick were rightly ahead of him and by the end of the season he was clearly 3rd choice. His bitterness is a bit bizarre. Every week he seems to be talking about United. He came off the bench a few times in the second half of the campaign and as I said he wasn't getting in ahead of Scholes and Carrick, so there wasn't many starting opportunities at that point.

Sir Alex talked him up a lot and it was clear he was going to get many more minutes the next season. He lacked patience but he's progress very well like I thought he would if I'm honest, which is why I was gutted when I found out he was leaving.

This thread just keeps going round in circles. He'll have a good game, someone will bump the thread and the same debate commences. He'll say something about his time here, someone will bump the thread and the same debate again. I'd ask for this thread to be locked but at least it keeps this circular talk away from the other threads.

Ouroboros: Snake eating its own tail

To be honest can't see this ever stopping, he's obviously bitter maybe he has a right to be I just wish next time a journalist asks him he tells them he's moved on.

In antiquity, this was a symbol of eternal return. A bit like this thread.

Incidentally, I had a tattoo done of this symbol back when I was a student. I thought I was making a profound statement and that it would impress girls

Did it, or did you end up eating your own tail?

Fergie fecked up big time with Pogba. I don't buy this "bad attitude/bad agent" argument. Why would any manager be annoyed by a young, talented player expressing the need to get game time? Isn't that hunger and ambition a good thing? It's just an face saving excuse by Fergie. His overreliance on Giggs and Scholes is the reason our midfield is fecked up.

"bad attitude/agent" bit was for the leaving, not when he was at the club.

He did not play well for the reserves most of that season, perhaps because he thought he was too good for them an attitude that would not be welcomed at OT. His potential was obvious but there was something about him I never liked much.

but would you call it bad attitude if a midfielder decides to leave a club because the manager would rather play a winger+fullback and bring a 37 y.o out of retirement? He was being overlooked he had every right to be pissed off.

It was one game, so, yeah, I would. Especially if I offered him a nice contract, and promise of more play time.

And Scholes wanted back, we didn't "bring" him back.

And you do not say no to Scholes.

ok so he wasn't having a great season but that is not a sign of a bad attitude. Sometimes players have a bad season. He had shown previously that he was a quality player. That should have been a good enough reason to play him ahead of Rafael and Park who was having a nightmare season.

Of course he deserved a chance at first team football. Just think about what we had. Scholes wasn't rightly ahead of him. He was in his last season and managed half the games. Carrick was rightly ahead of him but it's not like United are a team that play the same first team week in week out. Fact is, players that aren't midfielders were played ahead of him which was bizarre and that rightfully ticked him off. Who wouldn't be?

The player left to get first team football and he got it and now he's shining. He wasn't let go by any means. He was offered a contract.

It's the same discussion over and over.

that kind of sentimentality is the reason we have fallen behind. We should have been strengthening our midfield not trying to squeeze every little bit of football out of Scholes and Giggs. Fergie lost his ruthlessness towards the end.

Neither you or I know if his attitude was good or bad - all I am saying a player not playing particularly well in under 21 is not going to get loads of time in 1st team whatever his potential.

i'd rather play a midfielder than an ageing winger who has lost all his pace and stamina.

When he came back, Scholes had a great season. 14-2-1 was our record with him, and we missed the league only on goal difference. Fergie plays the players he knows can gives us something still, not for sentimental reasons.

what about the future? Wasn't Fergie known for planning ahead? If he was willing to play Rafael ahead of Gary Neville and Welbeck ahead of Berbatov, Owen and Chicharito then there is no reason he shouldn't have given Pogba a bit of gametime. I know we needed to get results but a manager who got rid of Ince, Robson, Andrei, Sparky to accommodate Scholes, Beckham, Neville, butt should play Pogba in 2012.

Guess he just wasn't really impressed too much to give him more play time? Thought someone else might do a better job? Fergie's kinda good manager, probably had some good reasons not to play him too much.

I don't know if the interview is new, but, Jesus, United were really fecking horrible to you. You've told us. Get over it. Christ.

I think his natural technique and vision could also allow him to play as a 10, not on a permanent basis of course but during special circumstances I mean. He's an exceptional talent and if he doesn't fulfil it, it'll be a case of injuries ruining him or him letting his arrogance take over his football. He's too good not to end up as one of the best players in the world.

Agree, he could even play as a 10 which is crazy to think of. I agree with everything you've said.

Paul Pogba has confirmed that comments attributed to him in a Daily Mail interview are in fact false.

SportsMail ran an interview on Saturday – which was also reported here – claiming to have been with the Juventus midfielder.

In it, the French youngster was supposed to have said that he was ‘disrespected’ by Manchester United, and revealed that Andrea Pirlo was his sporting idol.

However, via his official Twitter account this afternoon, Pogba has insisted that the quotes are not true.

“The Daily Mail has falsely attributed words to Paul that are causing social media reaction,” a statement read.

“Paul wishes to say he has never been interviewed by the Daily Mail, SportsMail or [journalist] Mr David Kent, who he is happy to have never met."

“Paul reserves the right to take all appropriate legal actions."

Obviously means Paul is coming back to United then.

Been reading Elliott Rodger's manifesto?

More like: if you feel unappreciated by an employer, you move on to the next. Especially when your career likely won't exceed 15-20 years. If you get asked why you left, you respond honestly. Then your answer is reused repeatedly in order to exaggerate your discontent with employer no 1. Drama sells.
Spot on
