Surely if United make their interest in Pep clear it's a non-contest? If I were a football manager & a fan of neither club or their rivals, between City & United, it's an absolute no brainer.

But maybe he's found it's not all it was cracked up to be, and wants a club where he can make history.

As for City - this is literally what they need. A manager who can give the club a real image. They've had a few 'faceless' managers thus far. This would be their first manager with the x factor, so to speak.

I'd say it's down to who sells their club best. Definitely not a non-contest. If City offer him more of what he wants, then he'd surely choose them.
It's not like he'll just receive an email saying 'you have been offered the job, here is how any fans we have, and how many trophies we have won. Please make your decision.'

To me I read that as Bayern wanting Klopp to take the Liverpool job for this season and then be ready for when Pep leaves to step in.
 
I read somewhere that Ancelotti is waiting for the United job to open up but its clear as day that Giggs will be the next manager for us. I'd fear Pep at City more than Klopp or Mourinho though at Liverpoool and Chelsea, that man has not just won but dominated wherever he's gone and he might change the entire culture around City with their resources and money.

It could be worse if they start attracting their old players to England with Reus and Gundogan at Liverpool and someone like Muller or Lewa at City. That'd be a nightmare.

It's not really a new rumour anyway. That story about Pep going to City because of his former Barca buddies has come up every year since he joined Bayern.
 
We've been hearing that repeatedly over a couple of years now. According to some inside scoop reports from last spring, Pep is actually managing at City already.

I for one still hope he does the reasonable thing and stays another couple of years.

What would be the point in us hiring another old guy like Ancelotti? Not to mention he doesn't like youth players so he's not a good fit with United at all.

Yup, it sounds very silly and all conjecture-based to me. It's clear that when Guardiola does leave - which most likely won't be for a while yet - he will almost certainly be going to City or Manchester United. Because of that assurance these journalists get to make up these 'exclusives' on the unbreakable vow that Pep has made with Txiki that seems to happen every year.
