PL: Chelsea Vs. Manchester United 15/08/04

The result isn't good but the performance (bar the final product) has been more encouraging than I honestly expected with so many first choice players missing.

Bellion and Forlan are NOT players I want to be relying on to come on to save a game.

I'm pissed off we couldn't level it but you have to say we did better than expected.

Defence was brilliant, we were excellent today but that cnut mourinho still betters us with a jammy goal. Giggs was shite, Bellion + Forlan shouldn't have been on

Silly mistakes. Giving the ball away when it wasn't needed cost us today. Giggs was one of the main culprits for me on that score, I thought he did some good things, but was so so sloppy at times. Keaney was our MOM imo, Miller looked decent as well.

Smithy worked hard again, but had way too much to do.

Bellion. Forlan. F*cking pathetic, both of them.

John Terry said "WE(Chelsea) kept the ball well.
MORONio said "WE(Chelsea) did fantastic.

Again, Chelsea win the 'WE BEAT MAN UTD' trophy.

The possession late on was something like 80% in our favour, fecking donkey Terry
That's great but it's what you do with that possession that counts. And the little possession they had they scored.

You guys played well but never really threatened Cech in goal.

I thought Smith played well, he is playing better for you than I thought he would, but he was so isolated for most of his attacks.

Neither Robben and Duff are 100% fit so we had to pack our MF today, not ideal but we got three points, which is all that matters at the end of the day.

kinda shocked the chelscum's not playnig an attacking role.
we were good in the midfield, but poor in defense and the finishing.

overall - average, but will be expecting much more than this vs. NOrwich in the next game.

we just weren't good enough.
better performance than i expected.
chelski weren't very good either.
i'd like to believe that we'll get better, but i'm very worried about midfield. where's the spark ?? where's the creativity ??
dj2 + JOS can't do that job. keano is centre back -cum- some time midfielder who hasn't got 90 minute stamina any more. giggs was never a good close-passer, and , sadly, scholsey ain't what he used to be.
why haven't we bought big ?? we desperately need a really good attacking creative midfield player. i think we'll struggle this season. champs league place may be beyond us. we're fading fast/ :(

Ronaldo just scored...1-0 portugal... :(

He got booked so will miss the last group game. Time to put his feet up for some rest.

BTW I blame fifa for making it a recognised competition. Its not like Ronnie could say no to his country.

You've come out for the second half looking like you're going to adopt a far more attacking attitude. Whether you'll find the cutting edge, only time will tell. You're suddenly looking infinitely more capable of scoring though.

Whether your defence is up to the challenge of Chelsea's attack, i dont know.

What kind of loser has enough time to make 6000+ posts on a team website he doesn't support. Go get a life.

Yeah. I am really pleased with Smith. Wait till we get Ruud back, he will prove lethel.
Chelsea kinda sat back after the goal, but seriously even before I did not think you were all that dangerous. Poor Quinton missed a header and direct result you scored on the breakaway.

u know wat.. i didnt think chelsea played very well.. so they won.. but watz the big deal abt their team play? it doesnt look like a team that costs 200million.. and i think that with all our players back, we can easily beat chelsea..

At the risk of repeating myself Red, by the time you get back what you conside to be your best team, I would not be surprised if you are so far off of the pace to be no threat to Arsenal or Chelsea.
The strength in depth that used to be a byword at OT is sadly lacking now.

A lot will depend on the fixtures we have and the likes of Chelsea,Arsenal...and Liverpool will have until we slowly get back our 'first 11'.
Dont forget even with our current makeshift side we can beat a lot of the 'lesser teams'..I hope so anyway or we are Really in trouble. I am saying this on the basis of the Chelsea match of course.

I dont like making excuses but you have to agree the loss of 9 first team choice players will affect even your club imo.

I dont agree we dont have the strength in depth anymore.
We have a lot a newer players who are still getting used to each other. But that is a different issue and just a matter of time.

Remember for you lot and Chelsea to be peeling away you got to win your matches too...and they are not all going to be Everton are they?

Red, I totally agree that the loss of so many first teamers would affect any club.
With regard to our opponents not all being Everton again I agree, most of the next 8 won't be nearly as difficult ;)

Dont tell me if Toure, Campbell, Pires, Edu, Henry, Reyes, Gilberto, Bergkamp and Ashley Cole were all out, that you wouldnt put bad results down to injuries, of course you would and rightly so. And you wouldnt expect Wenger to have adequete cover for ALL of those players. Dont be daft. We've been horrificly unlucky with injuries, the worst injury crisis that Fergie has seen in his career, a career spanning some 30 years, which says something.
