PL fixtures & FA Cup Semifinals Apr 22-27

Unlike other seasons, Arsenal had loads of luck I believe this season... Own goals, penalty in dying minutes.. And add to it, there no large scale epidemic which is keeping half the first team in hospital.
And then they are struggling to reach top 4.

Just when you think they're finally doomed for top 4 and an FA Cup medal, they get to the final of the FA Cup and start winning in the league again. Quite funny really.

As I said a billion times, never write Arsenal off yet. If they beat Spurs, they are definitely back in the top 4 race,

The days of a team doing the treble are gone, I mean due to the money involved with lower level clubs. I mean squads like Chelsea and City have massive resources and bigger squads to spread the competitions across. This season we have lost 3 key players for long periods, Kane twice.

I mean I here Man Utd supporters saying now the League Cup is more important than top 4, yet when you were competing at the top of the league the league cup was seen as a "tin trophy", plus cup competitions are 50% the draw. Don't get me wrong I want a trophy so bad and we need one to establish ourselves, but so far on the 3rd season of Pochs plan I'm very happy.

The days of a team doing the treble have always been rare. Even before the huge injection of money into the game. We're the only side to actually have done the treble (unless you count Liverpool's) in which case that's still only twice since the PL era began. It was never a common occurrence to begin with. Having said that Chelsea are in with a shout of doing a double, as are ourselves.

I agree with regards to the League Cup. As a Tottenham fan, you'd like to see your team consistently finishing top 4 right now and cementing that position over a number of seasons rather than immediate silverware like the League Cup (Obviously the League itself is a different matter). However it goes both ways, and eventually you do want to see your team actually start challenging seriously for silverware. I think it's fair to say Spurs have been in the mix for the domestic trophies this season, but linger on that 'almost' stigma. The league could change yet so let's see what happens there. There's a time where progression is more important than trophies, but if you really want to become one of the big boys, you have to start winning. It should be Spurs meeting Arsenal in that Wembley final. What a chance that would've been for Poch and co. to lay down a real historic marker.

As a Utd fan, I want to win every competition of course, and we should be competing on all fronts. It's nice to capture the league cup, but it should be a bonus for us. The real objective now is to secure CL football so we can progress from there.

Memorable season that will see Spurs end up trophyless again.. what's memorable about it?
I know it must be baffling as to why people would ever support any football club that doesn't win trophies every year. The fans showing up to clubs like Huddersfield every weekend must be truly puzzling. Why aren't they all Real Madrid supporters instead?

Sometimes being a fan of a club that's doing very well, even when not winning all the trophies, is both memorable and very enjoyable.

They have to overtake United and Liverpool. I can't see it happening.

No Fuchs given - Sanchez goes down

What a fecking piece of shit. I admire Fuchs in that sense that he didn't just smash it straight into his face. Good job on the referee too.

The most annoying part is the bunch of Arsenal pussies crowding the ref afterwards and that little snide shit trying to have a go at Fuchs after he got a yellow like he didn't know what he was doing.

Same thing could be said about kicking the ball to a wall on a free kick.

I can't believe it needs to be said, but theres a difference between deliberately throwing (or kicking) the ball at someone and doing it accidentally.

Fuch's should have been sent off for a second caution-able offence, Sanchez booked for delaying the restart, and Leicester awarded a free-kick.

That as well as Everton Chelsea. Could be a big day in the title race...or the day it ends.

Going to be a hugely stressful weekend. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see it go down to a point difference. Hopefully Lukaku is having one of his wank days, and Arsenal manage to not do an Arsenal for a change.

From the FA rules.

throw the ball with both hands from behind and over the head from the point where it left the field of play
All opponents must stand at least 2 m (2 yds) from the point at which the throw-in is taken

I can.
1 point behind Pool if they win all their games in hand.
Manchester Derby happening tonight. At LEAST one of these teams will drop points.

Is that something new, or perhaps English (British?) related only? I could've swear I've seen people way way closer than 2 meters away, even almost at the line itself...

Think that happens in England a lot, too. Remember someone standing next to the line in Delap's throws, for example. Probably a rule that refs don't apply in games?

Arsenal also have to play United, Spurs and Everton. They will also have a very high chance of dropping points. I don't see Arsenal sneaking in 4th this season.

Should have been sent off? Fuchs clearly stops the throw twice because of Sanchez being close, so Sanchez does it again and Fuchs has every right to throw it at him. Wasn't it giggsy who threw it in and hit one of our own players backs without him knowing about it so it bounced back to his feet?

These are grown men, a ball with a bit of air hitting your shoulder isn't much, also it's not breaking any rules by Fuchs, he could bounce it off Sanchez on purpose to come back out for another throw further down the line.

Players purposely smash the ball against another player all the time, to win a corner or a throw in , yeah it's from open play but it's perfectly legal and is hit with much more pace than that throw.

What makes that so funny is the outrage of the crowd and Arsenal players. The crowd actually chanted "Off, off, off".

So, oppo's what are you hoping for tonight?

City win :)

If I had to guess, Liverpool fans hoping for City, Arsenal fans hoping for United. Chelsea fans United (means United have something to play for vs Spurs.) Spurs fans, City (would mean United have nothing to play for in the league against them)

I've had you lads down for top 4 all season, so I'd be good with a United win. Must admit I have 2-1 City on the predictor though. You guys have been unbeaten for a long time and it's going to end sooner or later, and City are going to be looking for a reaction after the Arsenal debacle. I'd be happy to be wrong though, City annoy me.

I'll throw my prediction in here: 2-1 for City.

They have more to play for (we still have the escape card of the EL for a CL place), they don't. Add to that we have our entire central line in Rojo\Pog\Zlat injured and I think City just edges it.
