Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Yeah, people skills let the side down :(

Still, it's fun fecking with them. I remember when I told one of the level modelers that every 3rd polygon needed it's normal reversed because of a 3DSmax problem after two weeks of solid work on a particularly complex scene. I got beers out of that one when I magically cured the problem a few hours later with what can only be described as a "hello world" plug-in!

I really don't need to be reminded of polygons, I researched the fecking triangle strip! Never again!

Why is it a shitty controller? It fits in your hand well and has all the buttons you need to play the games, what am I missing?

owning both consoles I would say the Xbox controller is far better than the ps3 one.

A lot of people agree with this, so perhaps Sony have listened and that is why they will change it.

No fool wants asymmetrical sticks, and the d-pad on the DS3 shits all over the XB360 controller. The only thing they have to do is replace R2 and L2 with the T button on the move controller.

If you have massive hands the playstation controller is much more comfortable. I'll be pissed off if they make it more like the xbox one.

So Nintendo were slagged of massively by Weaste for using slightly updated old technology for one generation.

But it's ok for Sony to do it for three? And still sell them at full price? Hmmmmm, maybe they didn't need to sell their HQ, just stick another fiver on something that costs 50p to make by now and is about 17 years old.

If the PS4 doesn't use a dual shock in the same shape I'd have to seriously look at the Xbox controller. The thing that sets the PS1/2/3 apart is that controller design - it is timeless and brilliant.

It's rumoured that if their is a controller re-design for PS4 then the dual shock 3 will still be compatible with it.

Personally, I really like the dual shock design and can't understand the criticism it gets from some fans.

What criticism? Some people like it over other controllers, some don't.

Myself, I prefer the Gamecube and 360 controllers over them, but there's not need to change the dual shock for me. Until they once again try to copy Nintendo of course ;)

Xbox controller has a more comfortable feel to me and its triggers (RT/LT and R2/L2) are about a thousand times better. But playstation's d-pad is actually usable, which is nice. Comes down to personal preference I think, but they'd be crazy to significantly change the design. Its classic, and enduring for a reason.

The criticism the controller gets In general not just on here mate.

Ahh, it struck me as strange.

I think they are perfectly ok as controllers, nothing more nothing less. Like I said, both the Gamecube and 360 controllers are better for me (obviously the N64 but that was a slightly different generation with no real dual shock competitor).

I was just pointing out Weaste's hypocrisy to old technology slightly updated and sold as new ;)

The GameCube had an awesome controller!

I love the Dual Shock I much prefer it to the Xbox but i imagine its just a preference thing. The Xbox's controller takes batteries (unless you buy a battery pack), isn't wireless (unless you buy a better one) and so for me the PS3 controller is better.

A 360 controller isn't wireless, but takes batteries? Are you sure about your facts there? :wenger:

But yeah, it's a preference thing. I prefer the PS2 dual shock over the Xbox controller, but the 360 over the PS3's.

It is hard to know where to go if you're Sony though. There's nothing wrong with the dual shock at all, and they have the option of ripping Nintendo off in a few years too, so it's all good for them ;)

Yup. The Wireless ones take batteries, the wired one is wired.

PS3 where wireless and (external) batteryless from the start.

Don't all 360s come with wireless controllers as standard? The two i've had did.

I've seen many people say the same. In my opinion it's big, bulky and just outright uncomfortable! Mind you maybe it's down to the fact that I'm so familiar with dual shock having used it on the PS1/2/3 or maybe I just have little girl hands:(
