It tumbled a little when the news first broke. It created some uncertainty in the market, as no one knew for sure what the statement would be about and there was some worry it was something bad.

Everyone keeps saying there is no way negotiations will be done in 2 years. By winning the GE now, she'll have 5 years to negotiate brexit, negotiate the free trade agreement, and deal with the fallout.

Yep looks that way. To be honest where I live in Cheltenham I can see the Tories losing their seat to them. We were Lib Dem for a while before the last election and it's a two horse race between them. They'll almost certainly get my vote.

The elections weren't due until 2020 anyways so the Brexit timeline probably has little to do with this. It seems like she is capitalizing when the labor is in turmoil and squeezing home the advantage for the Tories. There is however the lovely albeit minute chance this could blow up in her face like it did for Cameron with the referendum.
I can see the logic in this from goverment and Tory Party perspectives (secure a specific mandate for Brexit, kick Labour in the bollocks) but it makes May look like even more a u-turning bellend who you can't trust to tell you the time. I never thought I'd say this but she's looking more of a chancer than Cameron was.
The good news is that Corbyn is gone by June 9th. Whatever happens next it is clear the Labour Party need a new leader.

But everyone keeps saying that negotiating Brexit in 2 years is impossible, especially with the EU demanding that things are done in order and not all at once. If we spend a year agreeing on the divorce fee, that doesn't leave much time at all for everything else.
