The results of 1st leg poll is just  now as the option with least vote happened.

What's your prediction for the Bayern Munich match at Old Trafford?

United win - 132 vote(s) 11.9%
Draw - 77 vote(s) 7.0%
Bayern win - 897 vote(s) 81.1%

What's your prediction after 2nd leg away at Allianz Arena? Can United pull it off or will it be Bayern having the last laugh?

We were cautiously optimistic after coming away from the Bernabeau with a 1-1 last year. We still have it all to do, and although i'd have taken this result before kick-off it still suits Bayern more than us. I expect them to progress.

I voted bayern, if we had managed to keep our lead we could have gone to munich and went full moyes camped out in our box, in that scenario we could have went through.

As it is we will have to go there and get a goal maybe even two, that is unlikely i think but you never know.

One of the correct 7%. Although I felt we would be able to hold Bayern to a draw at home, my optimism doesn't extend to the Allianz Arena, I think it will still be relatively close with Bayern snatching it.

Even though this felt like a great result, and it is, it's still factually speaking giving Bayern a slight advantage, as if they needed one. Think there is a chance we can do it, but it's small. Don't think we will, but there is hope.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Today's display was a glimmer of hope, but we need a goal at the Allianz regardless and Bayern still has a tight advantage over us. Reckon they'll try to change things around in the second leg and outdo us unfortunately.

We need 2 goals realistically.

We need 2 goals realistically.
If we keep things tight like we did today we could progress with 1 goal. We won't keep a clean sheet but we can take it to the penalties and pray.

But as I said they're going to change things around; you're probably right in us needing more than one.

They have the away goal.

United cannot use the same tactics in the second leg and hope to win.

If Pep is smart, he'll set Bayern up to defend, draw United forward, and then expose Rio and Vidic's lack of pace.

When United attack, Bayern can counterattack with Robben, Ribery, Muller and Gotze.

We can hope that Bayern will attack because it is natural for them and because they are at home because if United has to chase the game I think there will be only one winner.

What today proved was what good youth we have in the squad though.

Build the team around: De Gea & Jones at the back, De Gea definitely needs his contract buffing up soon, but Vidic and Rio really were great tonight, thing is they weren't tested for pace as they parked the bus, if Rio and Vidic pressed up the field that is where problems occur.

Bayern should still go through. They are technically leading the tie with the away goal and I can’t see us getting a win at their ground. We will be forced to take more risks as well if we don’t get an early goal, so can’t just park the bus for the whole game.

You can't talk about having a good squad capable of building around when you're parking the bus, this is a way of playing that is suitable for 1% of games. It proves nothing at all about the 99% of games when you actually have to attack with more than 3 players at a time.

We'll prove a lot more by going out and beating Everton or Southampton playing attacking football than we did last night.

Over the season, and today too closing down and making critical decisions in a major game you can make decisions, playing Vidic and Ferdinand you have to park the bus, you have no alternative, those players doing a high-line against a team with Robben and Ribery, do you honestly think Vidic or Ferdinand are capable of winning a foot-race or not getting sent off?

You can build a team around Jones and De Gea, both top players, De Gea does need a new contract soon for his long-term future, and United did press with more than 3 players at times, sometimes our back four was exposed, the problem was we didn't make the chances count, if the right players are fit against Bayern, Fellaini could be played higher up the pitch with Jones in his position as I do think that that cover at the edge of the box is vital, but I'm not sure how I feel about Rafael and Evra against Ribery and Robben.

The tie is set up to attack, look at Hoffenheim scoring 3 goals at the weekend against Bayern, their Achilles heel is their centre-backs and Dante and Boateng aren't the best defenders in Europe.

Nor is Bayern the best defensive team in the world, Bayern do one thing well, they press well, collectively, if you notice within 3-4 touches they have the ball back mostly, but that leads to one other problem, prone to picking up yellow cards, as they often lunge into tackles to try sustain the pressure.

I think if Bayern progressed, they would lose to Real Madrid or Barcelona, but United aren't out of this tie yet, he could be adventurous and play Januzaj in Welbecks role give him a big start in a big game and see how he fares.

They're still going through the semis for me.

Same, anything else is a bonus, such as the teams merging until the end of the season and us becoming Bayern Manchester so we can get in the CL next season.

We have to attack more in the 2nd leg and once the game opens up I can see them picking us off, the park the bus job we did in the 1st leg isn't an option at the Allianz.

1-1 is a great result for an away side in the first leg. Only way I can see us going through is if Bayern get man sent off ala us against Real last season

1-1, zee Germans through after penalties.

We will progress. Either on away goal or on penalties. I am dreaming of Juve '99 btw. 2-3 win

It's a decent result for us given how the year has gone so far. However it's a better result for Bayern really, I expect them to progress.

I fancy our chances more than I did at OT but still fancy Bayern to progress.

I fancy us to scrape through. Bayern would still be trying to attach and protect their away goal at the same time. And with their defence exposed by Wellbeck, playing Januzaj/Kagawa will get us the crucial goal there too. As long as we make it to the penalties, it will be a success.

It's funny. In Normal circumstances if we had gone into the match as equals, people would have been bummed by 1-1 at home. But given our state right now, so many are buoyed.

It all depends on who scores first in Munich.

If we score first, game on.
If they score first it's probably too big an ask.

Bayern. It'll be 1-1 and Robben or Ribery the smug face cnuts will get a goal in the last 5.

Of course we can, it's a tactic more suited to away games - we'll defend deep when we have to and look to him them with pace on the counter. Same story as last night and if we play like that again we could certainly nick a goal or two.

No it's the tactic you use in the first leg away when you intend to nick a result and do them at home.

It's not the tactic you use when you're away having already got a poor result at home.

If I was a neutral I'd predict Bayern to go through. But I'm not and I can't so I won't.

Of course it is, what are you talking about?

When you play against a possession side as good as Bayern you need to sit deep and look to play them on the counter, this is simple stuff. If you try and go toe to toe with them and press high up the pitch you are going to get picked off.

That is before even considering the fact that we don't have the players to go toe to toe with Bayern or a defence capable of pushing up the pitch.

What would your tactics be, try and out play Bayern? Good luck with that.

It's funny how you're one of the biggest moaners on the site and critics of Moyes, when you come out with shite like this yourself.

I think that Bayern will easily go through on the second leg. Moyes is very bad on big matches away (worst record on the league) and instead of 70k Mancs we will have 70k Germans on the stadium. On the other side, Pep's record on away games on UCL isn't that good (if you look at his time at Barca most of the times he only got a draw on away matches) but on home matches he is brutal. I expected a walk on the part for Bayern although Schweini, Thiago and Martinez not being for the second match will help us a lot. Hopefully we can manage well the situations, and if we first score a goal then we will have a chance to go through.

If they score first, I am afraid that it will be game over.

Juve in the 99 Champions league semi-final finished at 1-1 at OT. Hopefully, we won't be going through the same nail-biting tension of the opposition going 2-0 up in, what was it?, 20 minutes or something like that? We'll need to take a few more risks, which may expose our defence a bit too much especially with the pace Robben/Ribery possess. Saying that, there is always a chance that we can grab a goal or 2. No-one gave us a chance last night and look what happened. If the players keep that belief in themselves, we can do it.

There is no other tactic that could have helped us yesterday (or in the next match). You can't outplay Bayern with our players (and possibly not even with much better players).

I don't think you can call what we did last night sitting deep and attacking on the counter. It was sitting deep, punting long balls forward and seeing if anything turns up. We didn't commit enough men forward to get meaningful counter attacks goings, we set out to defend for 90 minutes and maybe nick something from a set piece, which we did. I don't see that working away from home, we needed to win last night, which perhaps we could have if we'd been less than ultra cautious.

I don't see how you can approve of playing for a draw at home in the Champions League knockouts, are we in this tournament to win and go through or to try and not get embarrassed because no team is ever going to be successful playing for a draw at home in the first leg. Yes, it's fine to do that away from home in the first leg or even at home when you've won away but not in a home first leg.

We needed to defend deep as we did but actually commit players forward on the counter so we could take a lead to the Allianz because 1-1 at home is not a result which is conducive to making the next round.
