It is embarrassing
all the time @SqueakyWeasel. What is unbelieveable is that there are other MU forums even more extreme than this one when it comes to Rooney. When you think of the committment WR has given the club since he arrived; he has been believed in by four successive managers, ... When you think he just had his testimonial; Manchester United's captain, a leader on the field. What a story; what a record. Let's just remind ourselves. He made his top level debut at sixteen years of age. He has been at United now for twelve years and has scored over 200 goals. Wayne Rooney partnered (effectively) so many in the United frontline. Some day I'll make a list, but it includes RVP; Tevez; Berba; van Nistelrooy; CR9. I don't need to defend Rooney - anyone with a clue about the game knows he is an intelligent and skilful footballer (don't mind these idiots who have just discovered 'soccer' rattling on about his touch). He is totally respected by the likes of Ibra. Of course he is human and imperfect, over the years he has struggled with different issues including dicipline and sometimes match fitness, but he has stuck in there admirably, through thick and thin. Why is he so hated? Some people don't like him because at the prompting of his agent, he once considered leaving the club. Some people don't like him because he is a Scouser. Some people think he earns too much money. Some don't like his looks. Some people just gallop with the RedCafe herd. Some get right out in front, in very ugly ways, including the poster
who wished injury on Rooney in the match thread yesterday after hearing Jose's first line-up of the Premiership. For me, Carrick and Rooney are very special, not just as fine footballers, but as ties between the fast-changing present and the traditions of the past. Great to see him play well yesterday and score the second goal. Respect to those who support our captain and support our team.
