PL W FA Premier League

Manchester United 1:0 Bournemouth

Post-match discussion

Wed, 13 December 2017

In some ways I felt that was worse than the city game. Confidence took a pounding on the weekend by the looks of it because that was really really bad. Really expected a reaction but tonight says a lot about the mentality of this current crop.
I think we started brightly but faded after. A win is a win and it will be good for confidence.

Dross again. It's a minor miracle we've got 12 points from the Brighton, Watford, Arsenal and Bournemouth games really. Sooner or later results will catch up with performances. Thankfully we've built up a bit of a cushion over 5th.

I didn't see the game. I take it we weren't very good?

It's a vital 3 points though. Especially with Liverpool and Arsenal fecking up.

I'm happy to take the win and move on.

Actually it was quite an entertaining game, a bit nerve biting at the end with only a one goal lead. But we could have scored a couple more on another night. Most of the time we contained them well and most of their shots were from long range. I'm guessing the heavy rain had a part to play.

Uninspiring stuff, but following the demoralising pasting at the weekend, that was probably to be expected. We've extended our lead over two of our rivals for the top four - reasons to be thankful.

Positives:
Shaw
McTominay
mata
Lukakus goal
Defoe ( world cup wildcard )

Negatives:
Boring football
Slow
No confidence across the team
Lingard beng very sloppy
Felt like united players had concrete boots on

Oh well, 3 points, 1 game at a time. Last year that would of ended 1-1

Its so funny to see Lingard try some flicks, tricks. SOme one tell that dude that he is no Messi or ronaldo, but a mediocre player who should stick to his basics. Frustrating performance especially from all our attackers especially by my fav Martial who was horrific.

The best part is arsenal and scouse dropping further points. SO this win means big. Great job.

Important to win games like these, although it was a truly unmemorable game. On a lucky night we win 3-0, on an unlucky one we draw.

Not exactly stellar, but three points. Our bests sides has usually had this quality to win on a bad day, a solid attribute to have in a team.

What's wrong with our midfield.. Both our play as well as the opposition play passed them by for majority of the game..

Happy that we got the 3 points.. Nothing much to discuss,on to next one I guess..

Happy for Shaw..

This was supposed to be our statement

Outplayed at HOME by not Barcelona in their pomp but fecking bournemouth.

It's infuriating that we play the MOST shit brand of football in the Top 6 and despite spending half a billion we still rely on 1 single player to uplift our attacking play.

Dire.
It was entertaining

Tell us how you really feel.

Really poor again today, but 3 points, which is what ultimately matters. We'll need to improve if we're to get through the festive period without dropping points.

Embarrassing how Bournemouth bossed us towards the end like that at Old Trafford.

Away from home it is *maybe* forgivable (even then vs Bournemouth it's shambolic) but at home?!
We bossed them. Where was their goal?

Plus, how do we counter-attack? Pogba is out. Who is going to go b2b?

Not the most convincing performance, scrappy and untidy throughout, but the most important thing was getting back to winning ways following the derby defeat. We done precisely that.

Take the win and move on.

What a horrible thing to say!!!

Last season, we put enough teams to sword especially at OT with nothing to show for it in the end. We drew this same team last season - I think it was the game Ibra elbowed the face of his marker and getting banned retrospectively.

We are shit without Pogba. It has been reiterated multiple times. One more game in the weekend and we would have our maestro back in the fold. I would take any kind of 3 points till he’s back.

The over reliance on Pogba is going to be our undoing this season. It's absolutely ridiculous. We need 2 or 3 players on his level to truly compete. And to be honest I don't give a shite about Arsenal and Liverpool dropping points. We're Man Utd and only first will do. The CL places behind it doesn't matter whether we finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th. The aim is to fight for the title and anything less is a failure.

Well to be fair well done flicks can speed up the game and unlock the defences, if people want better attacking football then such are going to be needed, not every is going to come off as well.

Have to say this was one of the most inept referee performances I've seen in a while. Not that is was biased or anything like that, it just seemed like ref had no idea what he was doing and what was going on.

We weren’t great. Playing in horrendous conditions, albeit the same for both teams. Some positives, though. Shaw played very well. Lukaku scored. Jones was excellent. This time of year results are often ground out. As we can all see from the Arsenal/Liverpool games. That won’t stop an insufferable amount of whining on here, mind you.

Highlights worth watching anyway, if only for an absolute thunder-bastard off the underside of the bar from Rashford. Not often you see a ball kicked that hard

Just seen it. Absolutely unbelievable effort.

Don't think I've ever seen a ball ping away that fast after hitting the bar

Miracle? Oh come of it FFS.

A win is a win but tedious to say the least.......

One point Lingard fell over his feet when in front of goal...... casually got up and walked back to the halfway line laughing.....not to single him out. Martial, Rashford, lingard Pogba and Lukaku all seem far to casual when on the ball and in terms of being decisive in final balls and finishing chances. You’re only 1-0 for god sake look after the ball.

Total shite but to be expected considering the total low that was the City game. Having said that, Shaw had a good game and McTominay had some decent moments.

Three points though, feck it off, pretend these last few days never happened and go to bed.

I am tired of this same old 4-2-3-1 hoofball we are playing. Dreadful match, we have seen that nearly every other formation suits this team better than this, no Pogba no other formation, same old dross. Bournemouth played football and were dangerous, we played hoofball and scored a good header from Lukaku. Positives 3 points, negatives to many to mention, like in the LvG days Big Dave saves the day, definitely MOM.

Not a great performance, was expecting more intensity in our play. Guess the team is still recovering from the city defeat. Hard to maintain your motivation when you are 11 points behind and playing in terrible weather.

McTominay, Jones and Shaw were bright spots in another ugly performance. De Gea was De Gea. Very good performance but I gave him a 7 because that's the kind of goalkeeping you expect from him nowadays.

Dreadful. We were outplayed by the oppo yet again at Old Trafford. If they had a better caliber of players we would have been in big trouble.

It boggles the mind how many United players are just not good at controlling the ball. Movement without the ball was terrible and that along with sloppy passing meant that we could rarely counter attack.

:nervous::lol: you should have ended it with GGMU

3 points is 3 points on a match day where Liverpool drew and Arsenal were lucky to draw. I know people get upset because City are steamrolling teams but we have to be happy that we're consolidating on that second position should they go through a tough patch.

It's genuinely almost as if Martial didn't miss the sitter, they weren't lucky with Rashford's shot and they shouldn't have ended the match with 11 players. Some people just fecking love hating ourselves, sad cnuts.

Not the best of games tonight. The second half, in particular when Martian and Lingard went off was awful. Felt like Bournemouth were going to score any second! But overall, happy with the three points, and happy that Lukaku scored. Shaw and Jones were excellent as well, and McTominay didn't do bad at all.
