utterly disagree, from about the the 70th minute our midfield basically sat in front of hour defence and even when we did attack is was never in numbers always just 2 o r 3 players while everyone else held their defensive position.
Its a typical Mourinho tactic, if your in the lead round the 70 min mark, shut the game down.
It reset yesterdayCan anyone look up the yellow card accumulation for the second leg and the Final?
Today, Pogba and Felliani got yellows. Obviously Pogba would be the greater loss, but we want to have optimal options going into any round.
There's always a home team and an away team in finals, too, even though it's at a neutral venue. And yeah, it's pretty much irrelevant apart from who gets to wear their home kit. That comment confused me too. Maybe he's talking about who gets to wear red?
I've got a bottle under the sink.Only the older viewers will probably know where I'm coming from when I say that I fear, whatever happens next week, Ajax will clean up in the final![]()
thiers a difference between changing the way you attack and obviously changing the way your team is set up so that the main priority is holding on to your lead, rather then adding to it.We are not a barcelona or a pep guardiola side , to always play a high line and get exposed solely because of being stubborn. Counter attack is a very effecient way of scoring goals , still we dint drop very deep but hold the play in midfeild to counter from the midfeild itself.
Its not a higher level to idiotically play the same way for 90 mins making it predictable and easy to plan against.
Yeah it was a very typical Mourinho away performance. I have no problem with that in a European semi-final in Spain, to be honest. It would be nice if we could expect some good football at home in the return leg but at this point our usual 0-0 or 1-1 is okay I suppose.thiers a difference between changing the way you attack and obviously changing the way your team is set up so that the main priority is holding on to you lead, rather then adding to it.
whether you think that is a good thing or a bad thing, that is what Mourinho is famous for doing, get a lead then about the 70 min mark shut the game down. that is what he did last night, very effectively.
If Rashford was really injured Jose wouldn't have held back substituting him so he could waste more time.Mixed night really. The result is good, but, in the context of the game, we can be disappointed that it's not much more emphatic. Looks like another two injuries (Young & Rashford), neither of which we can really afford if we want to rest players for the second leg. Delighted to have Pogba back.
I was after the game, I am not nowAre you positive about that? I thought two yellows now meant missing the final.
We had the chance to finish this tie by scoring 4-5 goals and rest key players in the 2nd leg. Our finishing will cost us I'm afraid, we already lost top 4 because of bad finishing, I hope the same thing doesn't happen in the EL.
I agree with this.
Eric boss'd the defence all night. Great player.
Hardly any teams score 4 or 5 goals in European ties. Chances will always be missed. But there is no point in resting players for the second leg if, as you stated 'we already lost top 4....'. Doesn't make sense.
this was actually your argument. I didn't say that, it's a silly way to make an point in my opinion.Okay, you seem to watch more United matches than me. You know better than me.
Can we wear the home kit in the final provided we finish the job in the second leg ? Ajax only have the red patch on the front right ?
I would love for us to win a final in the white kit.

I also think that jose in such situations prefers players not to burn themselves out and miss important upcoming epl game especially when the squad is so thin.We are not a barcelona or a pep guardiola side , to always play a high line and get exposed solely because of being stubborn. I seriously doubt we'd be allowed to wear the red kit and there may even be a doubt as to whether the white kit would be ok as the Ajax tops have both colours showing in large sections.
I'd read on here that the new black kit could be released before the end of the season, if this is the case then I would imagine that this would be the one that would be worn.
All hypothetical right now though, need to get through this second leg first!
Would be easier to instruct Ajax to wear their away one, as you mentioned both of our kit clash with their home colours like you mentioned.
Not sure. Sevilla finished 7th, so wouldn't have got into CL with their league position, sure they didn't have to go through any qualifying rounds.A playoff isn't a CL place, it's a game to qualify for the CL which winning the EL provides anyway.
Also isn't the EL winner in pot 1? Do pot 1 sides go through qualifying stages?

The UEFA Europa League winners enter in the group stage if the UEFA Champions League winners qualify directly for the UEFA Champions League group stage via their domestic league programme. This is what happened the past two seasons after success for Barcelona and Real Madrid. The Europa League winners in both campaigns were Sevilla."
Good. Got to win the cup first of course.Unless Real Madrid end up 4th or Juventus 3rd(Highly unlikely) then we would go straight to the group stagess.
seriosuly, Mourinho is famous for getting leads shutting down games in the second half of games...... this is not cynisism, this is just what he does, it's not nessicairly a good thing or a bad thing, its a tactic he has used throughout his career to help the teams he has managed be very successful. It was not typical mourinho, no. Before united mourinho's teams always played on counter attack for 90 mins defending deep without holding the ball so much in the game. Still we dint sit too deep after we scored , we holded the midfeild and countered from the midfeild.
the cynisism towards mourinho is a disgrace.
Any specific reason? Something historically significant I'm missing?
