PL W FA Premier League

Manchester United 4:0 Everton

Post-match discussion

Sun, 17 September 2017

We criticized a lot so on to the positives. We have already scored 16 goals in 5 matches, with the same GD as the "mighty" City. Again not saying our attack is the best but We're improving no doubt. The finishing is improving for sure and we become more clinical. The main problem now in the decision making of some players, mainly Rashford and Mikhi, but I'm sure it'll improve over time as well.

This time last year we have scored, what ? 8 goals only in the first 5 matches and already lost 2. The team is on the right track. The mentality is clearly here. Players are fighting for the last minute to get goals even if the performance is mediocre or dull.

We're ranging 3 goals a game now, and scored at least 2 goals in each game, great imo. Improve our decision making in the last third and we'll score even more.

It was 4-0. Ffs can people stop complaining about the performance not being as good as when they are playing fifa on thier PlayStation in easy mode!

Chuffed with the scoreline, but we were definitely not as good as it suggest. For 30 mins in the second half we were diabolical, almost inviting Everton to equalise.

It says PL is a average at best.

:wenger: You know what average means right?

Herrera didn't change the game. Everton opened up, came out of their defensive shell and tried to win. Then we pasted them.

He did. Not because Mata was poor. But because Everton were passing around our midfield 3 and with the attack minded Mata + Mikhi + Lingard - we didn't have players to stop that in the middle.

That switch was purely tactical and it worked. Mata was quite good too. Didn't influence the game as much as he would like, but by no means was he sub par.

Happy with the win. Decent enough match, but we should be doing a better job of controlling games, especially at home. If Bailly had a brain to match his physical ability, he would be the best defender in the game. Him picking up yellow cards for stupid reasons can cost us points at some stage this season. Loses his rag too often and then wants to terminate the opposition player.

If the table ended like that we'd play City in a play-off. Completely identical record on points, goal difference, goals scored and goals conceded.

The match day thread should come with a government health warning. All those who suffer with bouts of depression should steer well clear, for the content within is likely to trigger it off.

Average, with Pogba then above average.

Well then if we (joint top) are average, then alarm bells should be ringing across the rest of the league because there's probably not enough words to describe how poor they all are. Managers should be getting sacked left, right and centre I suppose.

Moan moan fecking moan.

Some of you lot have no joy in your lives I swear.

Just enjoy your team winning matches. Imagine how gutted the scousers will be after seeing that as well. Happy days people!

Completely missed the game as I was at the gym flexin' my guns.

From the highlights we looked really lucky not to suffer the wrath of Old Man Rooney. De Gea pulled off some great saves but in the end we showed that football matches don't stop in the 85th minute. Clinical.

Another clean sheet so Jose will be happy.

we attacked well at times and 4-0 as a result is brilliant. Although they havent shown it lately Everton are a hard side to break down. Lukaku is our lucky player. Misses easy chances, doesnt do much in the game, but you know theres a goal in him eventually. Would have preferred Martial and Lingard subs to have been the other way around. Think we missed the dynamics of Pogba and his forward runs from midfield

I was very disappointed with a lot of the game, we looked like the ones who had been playing on Thursday. Rashford looked hungover, Lukaku looked nervous against his former team. But I thought Lingard did well when he came on and offered more defensive support, Fellaini pressed well and look ok in the midfield but simply doesn't offer what Pogba does. I think we also kept the ball better but just looked slow in our passing. After the 80th minute though Lukaku seemed to come to life and what was a poor game for him now looks pretty decent grabbing a goal and an assist.

And what a fecking goal from Valenica, that will take some beating for our goal of the year.

Agree with everything apart from this, he came on and nearly set Everton through on goal, fell over constantly then missed a good chance.

I know most of us keep moaning cause we still afraid not to continue this way, but hey alot lot of improvements have been noticed no one can deny, we can score goals every game with some adjustments to our midfield without Pog and for some players like Mikhi, Rashford and Lingard we will be there on top plus we still have 2 3 important players out injured. Be optimistic people.

Average performance. Great result. Matic and De Gea were our best players today. De Gea had a pretty much perfect game. Martial with a brilliant sub appearance as well.
Agreed, but again games we would of drawn last year we are not only winning but adding a ton of goals to our goal difference

This is a place where you come and feel shit after your team has won 4:0.

Also the place where people like to have a go at others being honest while some would rather not talk about what actually happens?

As I said in one of the other threads, it's refreshing to be in a position again where we can be winning games and still have plenty of complaints at the same. A position we've not really been in since the Fergie era.

Was at the game today.

We're clearly really solid defensively and we've got a great GK who can bail us out when someone has a brain melt. Matic is a brilliant signing as well.

But going forward we are seriously sloppy and pedestrian at times.Mkhi and mata can't grab the game by the scruff of the neck like their City counterparts and our full-backs aren't up to elite standard. Valencia scored a worldie today and Young played well but we've got to upgrade those areas.

Far too often we resort to lumping it forward or crossing aimlessly. Better sides will punish us for that.

So a good win but, as someone else said, it's papering over the cracks. If we get top three I'll be happy.

If something hasn't changed since last year it's definitely the better teams will beat us posts.
