Juventus 1:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Still we wont go far in the competition playing the way we play currently but its freaking good to taste victory for now.
To be fair, we've just played one of the best teams in the competition and while we were not the better team for most of the match, we won and they weren't THAT difficult for the majority of the match. Playing like we did tonight we'll do alright against a lot of teams, and we can also do better

Love it. About time we won a big game in Europe like this one.

You mean Fellaini?

I don't know if it's Fellaini or just instructs them to play with more urgency. Anthony Martial in the last 15 minutes did some phenomenal things, but he was sleepwalking the entire match. The rest of the team was so slow in an offensive side.

feck Juve, I've been on the record saying they're overrated, and they don't strike me as a great team.

Could have been 3-1. I like this grit and never-say-die attitude the squad seems to have developed. We might still be a ways off in terms of quality, but if you keep at it, you always give yourself a chance.

Looks like Jose's siege mentality is paying off.

The mentality of this lot is something to be admired. What we obviously lack in quality we make up for in spirit. Credit to Jose.

The team in its current state does not know when to accept a loss and this is very similar to what we had in our heyday under SAF. Basically, our opponent needs to put 3 goals past us to absolutely ensure they win. Anything less and in the 2nd half, we are fully capable of coming back to draw/win.

The match which still irks me is when Chelsea got a draw against us a few weeks back. They really did get lucky and should've gone down. That's the only game which we have not won in the last few matches. Now, even Juve got smacked by us.

This interviewer with Mata - “It’s like American football, when they bring out the closer”...

...Fecking BT sports.

Nobody wins here, great result. Absolutely buzzing off that.

Should be a huge confidence-booster for the squad.

Brilliant, just brilliant. Some lax performances, but over all brilliant. Went down, but didn’t put our heads down. Kept going, kept trying. Brilliant.

That was something. Huge win under the circumstances and a very good result at any time.

Keep saying this, but hopefully we can build some proper momentum from here on.

A performance for the whole of Europe to stand up and pay attention. The mighty United are back. Particularly delighted to see Young rewarded for his brilliance in steering the ball off Szczesny, Bonucci and Sandro and into the back of the net, and glad for football, as it would have been a terrible injustice had Ronaldo's lucky goal settled the contest, especially after such dominance from United.

Commentators bitter as feck on the stream I'm watching

You're kidding right?
Nope. He’s had a 6 week period in his entire career where he’s played well and he’s 26 next month. Shouldn’t be starting for us. He’s had more than enough chances and running off the ball just doesn’t cut it for an attacking player for MUFC. It’s what he does with the ball that counts.

Anyway delighted we won but the game changed with the subs.

I was thinking to myself that Juve are well stacked except for the goaly. Schnezy is an alright goaly but certainly not world class

We should get arrested after that....daylight robbery.

We needed the win but I hope we learn that Lingard needs to feck off.
 Great isn't it?:D

I am just as happy I've detected your sarcasm as I am with the result.

That was genuinely hilarious :lol::lol:. A big steal but who cares. Ander, Martial, and Lindelof did well in particular.

On a side note, I've never seen Cuadrado play all that well. He looks good in patches but he's like Nani in the sense that you never know what to expect.

Looks like Jose's siege mentality is paying off.

That's what I am thinking.

And I was sure I read in multiple posts, on this forum that Jose had lost the dressing room and needed to be fired.
In recent matches only Chelsea have prevented us from winning.

What did Mourinho do?

Also judging from the live updates I’m guessing we were lucky as hell?
Yes, very much so, they should have buried us really. But dug deep and two set pieces won it.

Birthday present for Rio:drool:

Massive, massive result for us.

It seems more and more as though the Newcastle match was a turning point for Mourinho and this team. What they will all take from tonight remains to be seen, but we are putting some performances together. The next step is to do it for 90 minutes - then we may just become a pretty dangerous side.

Mentions for Young, Lindelof needed here. Both played well. Sanchez should get a run at centre forward too

There was a moment early in the game where Alexis got the ball and looked to break and it was him vs 8 Juventus players. I thought there is no way they score today. That Mata goal was huge, really changed the momentum. big 3 points for the group with the matchday 5 fixtures. These are the type of smash and grab performances that Jose made his name on.

Amazing how we look quite good when we actually attack!

We laugh at Jose for being a coward but Juve played right into our hands there at the end by not providing a counter threat in last 10-15 mins. And some think Allegri would be a good replacement for Jose.

I still can't get over this stat:

Juventus had never lost a Champions League home game since 2003 before today. Ironically the last team they lost to back then was us
