Worst performance of the season so therefore the best point, remember that’s the same as last season, but the difference is we have beaten all the teams nearer the bottom which we failed to do last season. I hate this fixture so happy with a point.

A reminder if needed that our attack is still nowhere near as good as some think it is.

Don't think the way we set up was a problem at all today. The execution by the players was terrible, in an attacking sense.

The brilliant attacking force that is Liverpool only created one chance in the entire game, same as the ultra defensive, hoof ball United.

But we made so many terrible passes and gave the ball away so easily today. I can remember one good pass into the channel the entire game and Lukaku got on it. Otherwise nothing. That isn't to do with our set up, that's to do with players not being able to pass the ball properly. In that sense, we badly miss Pogba. No real quality or arrogance on the ball.

Defensively, the first 10 minutes of the second half was a shambles, but even then they didn't create anything.

Both teams should be disappointed today, but a draw hurts them more imo.

Fine result, Liverpool always raise their game against us at Anfield. I'm fine with setting up defensively but the fact we didn't even test the Liverpool defense was disappointing. Lukaku got no service whatsoever. They're horrendous at the back and we could've exposed that. Individually poor performances and stupid fouls from most players. DDG probably our man of the match, Jones and Darmian were decent as well. We just didn't look comfortable in that formation and couldn't retain the ball for more than 10 seconds.

I get that playing defensively has its merits but you could at least trouble that Liverpool defence a bit? They've been leaking this season.

Pathetic.... and I'm referring to the reactions on this forum not the game

I guess a point is alright at Anfield. I don't like that we played for it though.

Er to get a point...which is what happened.

Disappointing performance, but perfectly acceptable result, especially in the context of how well Liverpool do against their direct rivals.

I think playing like this is fine at Anfield, Etihad and possibly Stamford Bridge...as long as we win most of our other games.
It depends on our goals, to win the league with this mentality (and results most importantly) will make us very unlikely the champions. City beat Liverpool and Chelsea already.

Cowardly awful display. Liverpool are there for the taking but we didn't even try.

We sat back and let them come at us again and again. That wouldn't have been too bad if we had been good at it but that cut our defence open time and time again we were lucky to come away with a draw.

I suppose a point at Anfield isn't a bad result but doesn't bode well for the rest of the season. First real test this season and we bottled it.

Result? Decent, hurts them more than us.

Game? Terrible. Yes, we miss Pogba (and Fellaini in his absence), but it was tumescent stuff. Only De Gea comes out smelling of roses.

Liverpool wouldn't have scored in another 90 minutes, mind.

I'll take the point, thank you very much.

So only teams that win deserve to win? Yeah, no.

They didn't do enough to win. And there was no decision out of their hand that took the win from them.

As I said, we were shit in attack but we were excellent in defense. I couldn't see them scoring even if we played for another 90 minutes.

It was boring, we should have tested their defense more. But it's a good game for us as we're still unbeaten. We need to look at the bigger picture and we need to be close to city after the difficult run we're going to have and the easy one they're going to have.

Good result but boring as hell. Showed no intent to attack. Typical Jose away performance.

If only Lukaku could have taken that chance.. point is a good enough result given the table.

The exact result and performance Mourinho set up for. Hate watching us play like that but can't deny it's a decent point all the same.

That's pretty unfair. Setting up defensively and to play on the counter is one thing but you can't legislate for good players like Herrera, Lukaku, Matic & Mkhitaryan being unable to pass the ball 10 yards.

I'd certainly have played Mata instead of Mkhitaryan though as you look to our squad and the one player who rarely gives the ball away under pressure wasn't on the pitch; and defensively he's no worse than Mkhi.

On another day we'd have had several good chances like Lukaku had in the first half, as they certainly weren't great.

Happy with that. Performance means feck all at anfield. Get the point and move on. Only time we actually played well here was with lvg in 2015.

Feck me it must be hard as feck to score against us. I'll say it now, we have the best defence in Europe

Before the game, I would have been happy to take a draw. Always tough going to Anfield. That said, I think Liverpool we there for the taking, providing we attacked.

In the first half, despite us not being great, we still had a few attacks and conjured up a very good chance, which, on another day, Rom would have put away.

However, second half was a disgrace. Didnt create a single chance. Was really bad.

That said, like I said, a draw is a good result to me.

I hope that time will return soon where our fans, players and most importantly manager will realise and appreciate the fact that we are Manchester United, we shouldn't be playing like this. But I suppose we no longer live in an age where traditions mean anything. Honestly would rather see us lose if we at least try to win, rather than playing like this and getting a point.

 fecking drama queen. Remember O’Shea’s late winner at Anfield? We played champagne football that day, didn’t we? Oh wait...

Watched it on a tablet and still wish I wouldn't have bothered.

I expected the defensive approach, but to have no threat on the break is how I'd expect Palace to approach a game like this, not a team pushing for the title.

I'll always take a point at Anfield but to not even push for the win was poor.

At the Etihad playing against 10 men for the majority of the game. And with a full squad.

Yes, and prior to the sending off, Liverpool looked well in the game despite being a goal down. Some revisionism going on by bringing up the City win, it was a huge slice of luck for Pep.

When did Anfield ever become a gimme? Let's not count Burnley or smaller teams beating Liverpool, as those teams are Klopp's achilles heel. They raise their performances in big games, and particularly against United.

At home, we will attack Liverpool.

It's a point at Anfield ffs. Would have taken that before the game.

We drew at Stoke... Heaven forbid we draw at Liverpool . Fans think all we have to do is turn up.....

A point is a point, I can take that.

But there's different types of draws, and that draw was the worse, cowardly, out-performed, out fought type of draw. Our team should be better than that, far better than that.

A point isn't a bad result. Arsenal lost at Anfield already. Spurs,Chelsea,City rarely win their.

Performance was poor for a lot of the game. The service to Lukaku was very poor. We need a RW with pace.

We didn't lose and Jose got what he came for. But Liverpool were poor too, and we could have beaten them, we played into hands and showed far too much respect. Felt like we played like a small team, wasting time with the subs and throw ins.

Wonder if that's how we will play against the big teams away.

That young Gomez lad spoke very well there. Has he been involved with England yet? Looks a player.

All closet Liverpool fans can go...

I'm also not a fan of the tactics but considering Bailly, Fellaini and Pogba are not available, i can understand us not trusting the available players to play differently. Still, Lukaku had a fantastic opportunity to score. De Gea's saves, while impressive, were not of situations that were 100%. Liverpool huffed and puffed and created half chances and shots outside of the penalty.

One tactics never deserves to win, kids. Win is a win, deserving should stay in the children's books.
Something tells me some of you would be happier if we played more openly and lost.

so poor on the ball, for which you cannot blame the manager or his tactics. did we ever string more than three passes together? very difficult to find a man of the match. suppose DDG but he had only one serious save to make, which shows how poor liverpool are. lukaku's performance was the sort that I feared when we signed him. no contrio, balls bouncing off him right, left and centre. he has surprised me until now and have to admit the service to him was, as nev said, woeful. herrera was awful, so was miki. I guess smalling and jones were good. just seen stats: only six touches inside their box in 90 mins. yuk. my guess is city will go to anfield and get two or three but I'd have settled for a draw at the start

Young is not good enough. Every season he shows some passion, we start to overrate him. He is a squad player who should be used as a defensive wing back and not start big games. Sorry to say but he is a very successful guy in fooling manager by showing some passion .

I am not saying he is the worst player, if anything he was decent but if we are to dominate we need skilful players. Young is not that.
He is not good enough to start for sure but it's not his fault he is asked to do so much.
He ain't fooling anybody, we know what he can and cannot do. If the players cannot displace him then they're the ones who should feck off out of the club.

There's playing defensive and setting up for counters.

Then there's Mourinho tactics, to not let anyone on the pitch play football including your own team.

Majority of the posters are understandably upset, We had all the momentum, Liverpool were there for the taking and didn't have their best attacker and we went ahead and did THAT.

Absolutely ZERO intent to attack or even play out from the back , just lump it towards Lukaku for the full 90 mins. The worse part is it isn't some one off we can put behind because you know this is probably how we're gonna play in tough away fixtures throughout the season

Probably the first time in the last 2 seasons that I've slept through the last 10 minutes in a Liverpool-United fixture

Looking at it again really, while they had a lot of possession, one or two good chances, Liverpool weren't very good either.

We missed Pogba in this match. No risk taking what so ever.

If Mourinho went in for a point, then he succeeded fantastically.

With that being said, that was a horrible performance individually. We won the ball back, had a panic and then hoofed it away.
