PL D FA Premier League

Liverpool 0:0 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Sat, 14 October 2017

I hope that time will return soon where our fans, players and most importantly manager will realise and appreciate the fact that we are Manchester United, we shouldn't be playing like this. But I suppose we no longer live in an age where traditions mean anything. Honestly would rather see us lose if we at least try to win, rather than playing like this and getting a point.

Correct. Wasted 2h I'll never get back with his absolute shit.

Terrible, onto the next one. Really missed Pogba, Bailly and Fella tbh

Parked the bus as expected. A decent display if you consider us a relegation candidate.

I would have taken a point beforehand but not even attempting to play football was very disappointing. The second half was a disgrace, not even an attempte on goal.

Premier League shouldn't schedule this match immediately after an international break.

With that said, United were not good without key players and players came back out of form. Liverpool played well and had 4 players in central mid which United struggled with.

Onto the next match.

I think Jose should just start lining up with all 10 outfield players being defenders and defensive midfielders since it's pretty obvious he has no intention of attacking big away sides.

We just camped in our own half, turned his wingers into defenders and completely refused to have any go.

I always hate Jose's approach to game like this, even when we know what he will do.
We are not sort of quality in attack ffs. Bit more open to challenge, that chances will come itself, but no, Jose will happy with just one point instead increasing chance win to 50-50.
He hate losing like SAF, i like that, but the big difference is, SAF never shy to challenge to win with gung ho, whereas Jose will just happy with one point, pragmatism at best.
But i guess this will help in season long, just hope City slips few times. If not, games like this that we will regret in May

Think Jose got us a point rather than lost us two with being so negative. No matter the personnel/formation, we were going to get outplayed today. The PL will be won by fine margins and this is the sort of game where a point is an acceptable result.

It wasn't fun to watch, but it was better than losing 2 or 3 nil.

Disgusting performance from a bunch of clowns. They didn't even seem up for the game.

Special mentions to Herrera and Mkhitaryan. Get them two benched next game please. Mata and Fellaini deserve to be ahead of them easily.

Liverpool bullied us all over the over the pitch and yet we are meant to be a strong physical team? Give me a break.

Idiotic to think we have spent over 350 million in 2 summers to go and play with Ashley Young on the right flank. I really didn't understand that decision when Liverpool didn't play anyone on the left flank, with Cou always going through the middle. Sometimes Mou makes you lose your mind. Didn't deserve the point at all.

Darmian, Smalling, Herrera, Young are not good enough for a team like Manchester United. Their playing mentality is not good enough for Manchester United. End of story.
Bolded the wrong player for you.

Lucky to get a draw, in a match where you want every one to be putting in at least 7 out of 10 performances we had too many 2 or 3's out there. Negative tactics too, out attacks consisted of lumping the ball up to Lukaku.

Liverpool looked sharp but they have always been in attack. Arsenal were tactically naive and got rinsed. Our players did a good job in snuffing their attacks out.

With Pogba out we were always on the back foot in midfield. With Fellaini out, we can't hold on to the long punts and second balls.

Overall a satisfactory result. No further injuries and we will always take a draw at Anfield.

Wasteful upfront. If we had been able to nick a goal ie Lukaku's, the strategy would have changed.

Lucky to come away with a draw. I hate this fixture.

LVG was there today (saw a lovely pic of him and Jose greeting each other warmly) - should have given Jose some tips on how to get a win with our lot at Anfield.

On paper: fine. Point at Anfield is decent.

Watching the actual match: kill me.

What United players are so supposed to gain from that confidence wise I'll never know.

Such an important observation. You could see the footballing ability and confidence draining from the players. These tactics may work but they are horrific and subconsciously tell our players that we aren't as good as the big teams.

Have no idea what the plan was.
Er to get a point...which is what happened.

Disappointing performance, but perfectly acceptable result, especially in the context of how well Liverpool do against their direct rivals.

I think playing like this is fine at Anfield, Etihad and possibly Stamford Bridge...as long as we win most of our other games.

Good result. Not the match we hoped for, but very important result. We need to get results like this to win league.

This will enrage pool fans could of been better with an offside goal but 0-0 away to them is a good result i did not think we was going to lose at any time today.

It is starting to show we have a few Injurys now we missed Baily/Pogba and AfroMan.

i would of took a point before the season started and i still take it now.

There are many players who should leave before Young.
Young is not good enough. Every season he shows some passion, we start to overrate him. He is a squad player who should be used as a defensive wing back and not start big games. Sorry to say but he is a very successful guy in fooling manager by showing some passion .

I am not saying he is the worst player, if anything he was decent but if we are to dominate we need skilful players. Young is not that.

Agree but I just feel we missed Fellaini and especially Pogba and it would have been different if they or just Pogba played.

I can't imagine that adding Fellaini to that team would have changed our approach. It might have made it more effective, sure, but the intent was never there to dominate in the way @Devil may care describes.

It's a point at Anfield ffs. Would have taken that before the game.

We drew at Stoke... Heaven forbid we draw at Liverpool . Fans think all we have to do is turn up.....

Without Pogba and Bailly and Fellaini this was not a bad result. That said we should have scored too with Lukaku. I thought he had a bad game and so did most players. Damian did his job in keeping Salah quiet.

Obviously shit performance, but if you offered me a draw at the start I would have taken it.

Just hugely disappointed that we only had one chance - which we really should have scored anyway

Good point, the lads almost executed the game plan perfectly. Lukaku should've scored, but they had one excellent chance as well, so no complaints. A very decent point away at a shithouse ground, no injuries, no goals conceded, tactically well-planned and executed. Still seven points ahead of Liverpool and a tough trip behind us, I'll take that, despite it being an ugly display. I expected exactly that display, so not pissed off with our approach.
Unfortunately Fellaini, Pogba (for creativity) and Bailly (playing out from the back) being out for us limited our options severely.

Worst display this season, parked the bus and did not play to our strengths.......and yet we got a point.

Disappointing as hell and a missed opportunity.
1 shot on target for 90min,fecking hell
Only one team tried to win the game

You’re right. We need to respect the claret and blue and play the West Ham way.

Happy with the point but our ball retention was terrible . Attacking players didn`t ease the pressure in any way . Hopefully just post international break blues .

Liverpool will be seething with rage they didn't win. We stole that point. Haha, ok not great for our title aspirations but that's a terrible result for that lot.

Good game from us overall. I'm very surprised that you never looked like you wanted to win. Judging by this game, it is utterly baffling that we haven't been better against much worse opponents than you.
Our game plan was let you have the ball and defend and attack on the counter with Martial, or have Herrera nibble the ball away from Liverpool and play those through balls that he does so brilliantly. Obviously, that didn't work. We were not at all adventorous in this game, nor were we playing aggressive. Liverpool should have won the game if not for De Gea's brilliant reflexes. Our approach was very conservation and this is basically a game where we don't give our 100% to get the ball, I think Mou wanted us to not fly into tackles to get the ball because that would have riled the crowd up and given the home team a boost.

Yep. First game after the international break, key injuries, and we take a point at Anfield without playing particularly well. Happy with that.

Aye. Bit shocked by the moaning. But, then again, that’s more fool me. Been muppets all week saying they expected no less than three points. As though they’re completely obliviious to our record in this fixture. Plus people ALWAYS fecking moan after every single game we don’t win. Standard.

Disgusting performance and mentality, Mourinho is such a fecking pussy. We are nowhere near the title.
