PL L FA Premier League

Manchester United 1:2 Manchester City

Post-match discussion

Looks like Jose fancies joining Paul in the stands for a couple of games. That said, we've had 2 managers criticise the referees and say they made the wrong decisions. I have a feeling only 1 will be picked up for it.

Jose's post match comments = FA fine. Jesus should be carded for the dive in the box as well, Otamendive has a brilliant nack for falling when hes the last defender, and the petulant, tactical fouls really hindered our attacks.

Poor from us, City were better no doubt. I wish Lukaku was as good at goal scoring as he is at pointing, thought he was poor today but the team as a whole were shite in my opinion and just on a side note what the feck are Sky doing getting that Bell end Noel Gallagher on, the press and media are wanking themselves into a coma with city at the minute, I wouldn’t be surprised if they get Micky “the horse torturer” Quinn on for our next game. Tossers!

They outplayed us in terms of possession. Yes.

We created the best four chances of the match. Two for them, which led to both goals. Also, the one that Rashford scored and the sitter that Lukaku missed.

Other than that, did citeh really endanger us from open play? Not really.

To be fair Delph had a big hand in Rashford's effort.

Just shows how much we are behind City. Interesting point from Gaz Nev that Utd should have stuck Lingard on Silva, Herrera on De Bryune. Even if you do that, we are still missing somebody to move the ball into the gaps. Still some fresh blood (and a leader) needed for that Midfield. Thats where the game was won and lost today

It's simple..

Depay - £25 million
Mata - £37 million
Di Maria - £60 million
Schweinsteiger - £8 million
Schneiderlin -£27 million
Mkhitaryan - £35 million
Lukaku - £75 million

City are filling their first team with players like..

Silva - £24 million
Sane - £35 million
De Bruyne - £55 million
Jesus - £28 million

None of the above players from our list are showing/showed value for money. And we wonder why we're so far behind.

To be fair, Di Maria would shive under Jose instead of LVG. Our attacking play is better than City even without Pogba but we gifted them 2 goals.

However, you put all list that has been flopped but not bother to put City player who flopped?

They're better than us, just.

The game was close with silly goals given away, but for the most part, that was because we didn't play our game and instead adapted to stop them. I still think that if we both play our best football, they're better than us, Pogba or no Pogba.

We are close to being a very good team this season, very close. But City are just the best team in the league right now, and will most likely go on to win it now.

While, we could and probably should have been better today, there's no shame in losing to a better team.

We gave too much respect to Mancity. Players seemed frozen at times when they had the ball at thier feet.

Agreed. AdM under Jose would've been fantastic.

The better team won. We were hoof ball United, although we couldn't even send it into their penalty box in the final minutes. In the end after watching the game, I think we would have matched them if we played football.

Lukaku's form is very concerning. That chance at the end should be put away, poor finishing from him. Jose should have a better plan when Pogba is not available, may be buy another playmaker in January. Also what is concerning is that Man Utd team conceding two goals from set pieces, unacceptable I think in big matches like this. Only positives are we didn't get thrashed and they didn't score a goal from open play.

Jose moaning about the Herrera penalty incident. I'm sure he'll change his mind once he watches the replay.

Also "City always have decisions in their favour", also made one or two comments about Oliver. Will be surprised if the FA doesn't pick up on it.

Actually, its wise from Jose. Every players had known this game was most important match of this season, But many players couldn't perform, especially big Rom. Jose needs to turn the mirror to himself before media would attack the players. I hope he will take all critics on himself and prepare lads for next game.

Some of you had truly lost your minds.

We were beaten by a superb City side. Just like Liverpool and Chelsea were.

We sit 2nd in the league.

Chill out.

Well we now have to concentrate on getting into the CL places and build our team further for the coming season - simple as that.

We were set up correctly. City were not able to play like they usually like. They looked cagey. They looked frustrated. Time wasting from a team that many would think would blow us away shows how close we are.

The 3 goals were down to errors. Between team that are at the top of the table, the little errors are the difference. For us to concede on set pieces like that is disappointing. We had our chances. Martial was a bit quiet. Rashford looked up for it but didn’t get a lot of success other than that goal.

Lukaku is really going through a rough patch at the moment.

Zlatan coming on provided the presence that put some pressure on City. That chance at the end wouldn’t have happened without Zlatan on.

We just need to pick our heads up and keep fighting. City will drop points. We are still in early December. Long ways to go.
City need to lose 12 points and we need to win every game, neither will happen

Whoever the cnut is presenting on Sky can't wipe the grin from his face

Carragher was a shitehouse in commentary as well, what were Sky thinking giving him the biggest game of the season?

We will do well to finish 2nd and we will be there, in the fight. This result shouldn't change that. One good summer transfer window, possibly a player or 2 in January maybe and we'll be in the mix next season.

City is better but not so much better we can't make up the difference.

Who Noel?

Agree 100% with this!

Last few days there were so many headlines about how we will have advantage in setpieces. I knew it that it will hot us in the face.

Can't stand the media and what they say about City. We tried and we lost to a better team today with very important players out, Pogba and Bailly as it's still 22 games to play for any one think we still have a chance? IMO i think right now no one can stop city.

You all need to put this in some perspective. Had it been KDB out for them and Pogba in for us we would've won.
Time to accept that we're a one man team. Even without watching the games look at the stats with and without Pogba. He is the catalyst to play Martial, Rashford, Lingard and Lukaku. Without him they're lost.

The redcafe in meltdown thread is unfortunately locked.
Go through my post history. I never lose my head over results and am mostly happy with our team.

But Mata and Herrera don't fit the profile of a Jose player. Power and pace, hard working. Yes Herrera is hard working. But that's about it.

Matic and Pogba pure class. That's what we should be aiming for.

Herrera needs to realise that showing passion and rolling around at the smallest of touches from the opposition is good only if you do the other parts of the game well.

Rojo needs to know that he does have the option to pass to teammate within 50 yards of him and no need to try for the spectacular like he is Daley Blind.

Michael Oliver needs to know that city aren’t part of the royal family that they don’t need to be shown yellow cards

This thread is an embarrasment tbh. So much city ass kissing it's unbearable to read. i'm not blind to our deficiencies, but we were without our best player and they scored 2 very very very lucky goals. you lot need to give your heads a wobble.

Agree with you here. Improbable things have happened before.

Keep the faith people.

Quite indifferent to be honest. I expected us to lose, they're simply a comfortably better team than us at present. We were absolutely shocking in the second half though, inexcusable. Lukaku had a stinker, really needs a few goals to boost his confidence. We were toothless for the most part though, disappointing.

City's title then. We now must aim for 2nd place and 1-2 cups. I'd be happy enough with that this season!

Had to have the worst weather of the year today to top it all, gale force winds and torrential rain, power cuts and missed nearly all the last 15 minutes.

Why play into City's hands - City's weakness is their defence - we play an attacking line-up and especially in the first half just hope a long ball finds a target which by some fluke did at the end of the first half. We're too reactive instead of pro-active.

The three goals were all defensive mistakes , very disappointing. Lukaku way out of form, give him a rest.

If Pogba had been there maybe it would have been different as he could have found the front men but he wasn't. Frustration.

To be fair, individual errors cost us today. Lukaku has a shocker but could have easily been the hero on another day.
True but how the whole match played out, makes it worse. Two mistakes for their goals, missed a sitter to level late on, we lost out Old Trafford record and City make their own record for wins. Overall, simply a disaster.

Agreed. We were up against one of the better sides in the history of the prem.

Agree, but you're in the desert, my friend.

Jesus should have had 2. The one where he decided to try and back heal it back in to Silva instead of taking the shot then when he had a poor shot after sitting Rojo down on his ass.

Guardiola won spectacularly with Barca and now he is going to win spectacularly with City. I didn't think a club or manager could dominate the EPL, but it looks like that could be the case for the next 3 to 4 years. Kudos to City.

City never had to go past first gear. KDB didn't need to be brilliant. Sane and Sterling never even had to go on a mazy dribble. They played without two of their best defenders, a left back and both their strikers for half the match. In the end, they resorted to schoolboy level corner flag shielding and we couldn't even muster a Championship level response to that to stop that. They kept dumping on us, and we took it all in timidly.

We weren't beaten by a beautiful attacking City side. We were humiliated at our home by a second string side so didn't even bother to turn up at their best. We were humiliated by supposedly world class players making schoolboy errors and playing hoofball Allardyce would be ashamed of.

There are no words. I'm seething with rage and disgust.
