Smash and grab personified. Feck me we were truly dire most of the time.

Got a horrible set of fixtures coming up now!

Big win, woeful "fear of failure" performance again. Painful to watch for me. Set up not to lose the game. Too many extra "safe" touches, just like Saturday. Lucky Louis or Safe Louis?

Bizarre substitutions again by LVG.

Rooney up front > Life

Papered over the cracks. This team is flatter than Adam Johnson's Mrs.

So slow. ADM is terrible yet we were better with him.
Terrible yet he put Rooney through on goal 3 times and Fellaini once... In an hour...

limp weak performance. 3 points. arsenal must be quietly confident.

Fair play to Newcastle, they kept giving us chances to score since start of the game and we finally took one in the end. They waited long but it paid off for them in the end.

feck me hard, this was so bloody important! Just tired and relieved now.. I don't give a shit about how we played.

Not perfect, but for once we can come away from the game thinking about the positives to build on rather than looking through the scraps. Indeed the only thing missing from our general performance was the tempo. Our shape, movement and possession were all good. Baby steps, but damn sight better than we've had so far in 2015.

Thought that was better meself, Rooney up front esp, in comparison to what we've been watching.

Nothing to get excited about and Top 4 looks tough, but you never know.

Im going to pretend that rooney's 'offside' goal makes up for the penalty they should have had :)
Doesn't really, one was infinitely more obvious than the other.

Was on the verge of a heart attack for the last 20 mins

TBH it would have been criminal had we not won tonight. I thought it was one of our best performances of the season but we were so wasteful it was unreal - yes even by our wasteful standards this season today was something else.

Still we have a awful end to the season fixturewise so i dont care how we win as long as we do!

More papering over the cracks if anything. Nobody stood out for us today, yet again another performance of nothingness yet we win with an absolute howler from Krul. Not impressed. Rooney as a lone striker was just as average as anything else we've seen this season, even worse with Fellaini playing behind him. Poor Mata.

Jonas left his hanger in his shirt, that was also painted on.

Still playing limp football.
Movement seemed slightly better.
Scabbed it.

We're shit. I honestly at this stage have no idea what LVG is trying to achieve. There is no possible advantage to be gained by the way we are playing and what we're trying to do. Better players won't improve it either, the system and style is fecked.

At one stage at 0-0 Rooney got the ball in the box and his only option was to try pull it back to Rojo who was stood 20 yards back. This sums us up, it's as if our players are told they aren't allowed to push for a goal.

The funny thing is that whenever we are slightly risky with our passing we actually look like a team that could create chance after chance.

Also Fellaini makes no sense when playing a possession game like this, he lacks creativity and encourages us to aimlessly cross it.

Like I said I'm done trying to figure it out, it clearly goes over my head, just going to sit back and try enjoy it from now on in.

We played alright but seemed to lack urgency. Rooney won us the game there at the end.

Another shocking, shocking performance. We don't deserve the 3 points. DDG bailed us out big time there. The Young goal was all because of the sheer persistence and determination of Wayne Rooney. He's the only one who looked like he cared tonight.

I have no faith in LVG or his outdated philosophy. There, I said it.

If we do remain fourth by the end of the season, it'll all be because of DDG and sheer dumb luck.
What fecking game were you watching?

Id hate to listen to you when we actually lose.

We struggled with 1 up top. Rooney, bar his first half chance, was feeding off very little. Then Mata comes on and plays deeper the Fellaini then.....

Big win though. We played ok, just created little.

HUGE WIN!

could anyone see Falcao or VP chasing down like Rooney did for that goal?

What the heck was Krul doing?

Maybe not but they'd have probably bagged his chances in the first half.

Tough slog of a game. Thought we controlled it for the main but Christ did we give them far too many chances. Fellaini was poor. Herrera too. Di Maria is suffering badly and what Falcao must be thinking, God only knows.

Huge result from a game that should have been a formality in truth. Thank god we keep the pace with the other winners tonight.

No doubt with our possession we deserved to win, but wow....we are so dam laboured. It's just not exciting to watch...it's bloody agony. We have such a long way to go.

Stupid subs, and a complete lack of urgency. Half the players looked like they couldn't be arsed. Rooney won us that by pressuring the back line, because we weren't scoring otherwise.

Potential turning point for us and Carrick is back, we desperately need to improve immediately though.

That was great. We actually didn't play bad, if only we were a bit more adventurous and quick. Finally that buzzing feeling!

We've still got an enormous task ahead but man, there is still hope.

Is it me or did Giggsy not look too impressed with Van Gaal when celebrating the goal. Very stoney faced. Something not right there.

DDG
Valencia Smalling Carrick Rojo
Blind Herrera
Di Maria
Young Rooney Januzaj
I'd like to see something like this next game. Di Maria is not looking good on the wing but at the same time we need his drive badly and Fellaini is more effective from the bench.

I thought we actually played well, just didn't make the most of the chances we created up until the end.

Yeah, I didn't think that was at all bad. We were a bit lucky, granted, but ultimately we were the better side and on another day we'd have taken one or two of the chances beforehand.

The possession still looks quite sterile, though.

Should have kept Di Maria on looked like he was coming into the game and was playing well with Valencia. De Gea made some great saves, Rooney played till the last whistle, we won. Just because we score towards the end of the game doesn't make us lucky. We stayed in the game and some of our players were doing the right things and were in the right place to score the winner.
