Rooney and Mata need to sort them selfs out, bullshit performance from those two is being kind and fecking why o why are we playing with 2 dms for 90 min vs Newcastle at home Herrera + 1is the way to go

When Newcastle keep a clean sheet you know you've had an off day

Fact of the matter is that we lack that one player who we can go to when we need a goal, Rooney offers nothing and Hernandez is simply a limited player.

You just can't be dropping points at home to fecking Newcastle.

It's absolutely fecking incredible that MoM's from the last three PL games have been either Smalling, Darmian and Shaw. Pathetic.

This is awful to watch. I don't like this van Gaal stuff. It's boring. We lack quality up front. Rooney worryingly off form. He'd be dropped if we had anyone else. Mata too slow for counter attacks.
Also Herrera has to start. No sense playing two defensive midfielders in this type of match.

Some of you really need a reality check

Fair play to Newcastle, we should've had more chances but frankly they defended very well and we were very unlucky at times.

The cowardliness shown in stoppage time to take the ball forward and make chances...all we needed to do was load up the box. Sticking with two defensive midfielders all game. Just pure negativity.

Expected from LVG. Herrera should have come instead on Carrick. Young should have come on too.

Jewel in the crown is missing. There's lots of games like that in this league but the Hazards et al make the difference in the tight games.

Newcastle will go to West Ham in three weeks and will probably get battered 3-0 or something and Coloccini will be crap.

what a frustrating day....

after a bright start we faded badly and didn't improve again until Rooney went to 10 and Hernandez came on

didn't work Krul enough and any half decent well organised defence will have a good chance to stop us scoring

Woody/Louis.....we need that player who can get a goal from nowhere when the pressure is on

Do we genuinely expect to finish higher than 4th with our current forward line? It's shocking and a disgrace that we haven't sorted it out.

So we created sweet feck all chances or shooting opportunities in the 1st 2 games and in this game we created lots of chances. Next step is to start scoring. How the feck did we not win that.

We’re improving, I’m reasonably happy with the performance. On the other day Smalling, Mata, Valencia and Carrick could’ve had a goal. One of those superhuman days from Coloccini and Krul.

I think we need to sort out right wing, because we’re attacking with one player in Darmian.

We need a striker, preferably someone who could also play on the wing. A sort of Pedro-type player would do.

There's a thought, do you think we should put a bid in for that guy?

Do Chelsea, City and Arsenal need to try luring Ander away from The Old Trafford for LvG to realize that Herrera is indeed a valuable midfielder??

Just only caught the last 5 minutes of it. All I have to say is that was fecking annoying the way we were nonchalant fecking the bal around sideways at the last few seconds.

If you don't play downhill football in the league then these days where you have plenty of chances but no real periods of dominance that result in goals then you aren't going to convert the tight affairs, how long has LVG been in the league and he still doesn't get this. There will be many more days like this, possession football doesn't win you this league. Head to the continent and go for your life, on English soil it will turn tight games into draws (or losses on the counter late on).

I blame the ref, gave 3 points to Liverpool last week, gave every decision against us this week, he couldn't wait to blow his whistle in first half and in the end, Rooney was not offside.

And i blame Krull, game rising cnut, his position was spot on, we have some good shoots but he made them look like poor one with his position.

Utterly ran them ragged for the majority of the game, just one of those games where we were a bit short of luck and were trying to be a bit too intricate in front of goal. I reckon Fellaini could have been the difference if he had been available.

I don't think we did too badly overall. It's frustrating not to score, but for a (cumulative) half of the game we were totally dominant and only stopped by Coloccini and Krul on top form. Marginal offside, hit the post, several crucial blocks. Could easily have won that by 2 or 3.

One of those days.
Lack of an proven goal scorer is obvious and can cost us this season. Our play overall has largely improved from last season. We have a strong control in midfield, Players are developing kind of telepathic relationship, they are working in a set plan and there is almost always someone to cover up, whether defense or attack. The final piece of jigsaw is lacking obviously, a proven goal scorer. Even 34 year old Zlatan can be big difference for us this season. He or similar player can be difference between us competing the title or settling for top 4. Get a marquee forward Woody/LvG!!!

Yes. It is LVG's fault that Memphis and Januzaj gave the ball away at every opportunity, that we didn't score when we dominated early on, that the ref was shite and it was also LVG's fault that the Newcastle defense put their bodies in front of everything.
Yes because I've clearly based my dislike of LVG on one game against Newcastle. Well done.

So frustrating. Thought that was a very poor Newcastle team who could barely keep the ball.

The way we control games is encouraging though. Unlike some parts of the last two years when we would look toothless when we needed a goal, we really bombarded them as the game went on. So the midfield and the ability of the midfield and defence to win the ball back and pile pressure is great, but the final third is completely toothless. We're mostly relying on two kids - Januzaj and Memphis - to provide all the class going forward.

3 games, 2 wins and a draw, who would not take that ? No goals conceeded and we are only one attacking player away of becoming a real force again.

This.

My worry is the attacking player we need would replace our captain, and I don't think LVG is willing to do that despite his lack of impact in games.

Feel for Herrera, would be one of the first names on the team sheet for me but seems like his days are numbered, gutting.

Good game with nice pace and urgency at the end.

Defence was almost untroubled which is nice to see.

Just a really unlucky day with so many attempts but none went in. Every team has a few of those each season. Have to give Newcastle some credit for their disciplined approach.

Happy to see the team making good progress. Passing was crisp and we used the width well. It is early in the season but we are getting better.

Valencia crossing to depay in the 89th minute made me want to cry
