First time I've really been deflated since the Leicester match. Same pattern really, great first half, wank second half. We really should have been 2-3 up by half time.

Don't know how we didn't score in that first half. Only ourselves to blame for that. Second half just an awful half of football, probably a lot to do with tiredness. Frustrating, the game was there for the taking. Mata the best player for me, besides that miss.

Honestly I thought most of the ref decisions were fine on replay (and I am usually very critical about refs). United were constantly second best to 50/50 balls and were getting late kicks/touches on players without getting much if any ball. There were also instances of United players losing balance/control such as the Mata foul on Eriksen where Mata clearly loses balance with little contact and then proceeds to drag Eriksen down. The fact of the matter was that United were gassed and it showed in the late challenges. You can argue the potential red card when Carrick was tackled in the first half but those are rarely called straight red.

Missed chances in the first half cost us unfortunately, van Persie should have scored from 2 yards out but so should Mata in the second half. Didn't have any chances after about an hour which was very disappointing but a draw at The Lane two days after playing Newcastle isn't that bad.

were we too cautious?

first half we played very well and finishing let us down

had we a decent midfielder on the bench we could have freed up Rooney to replace Falcao who had a poor game

Young again very good, Mata and Carrick great - Nothing down the right hand side until Rafael came on and we improved a bit

missing Herrera, Di Maria and Fellaini today

This game really angered me. A combination of missed chances, poor officiating and great form from Lloris...

Should've been out of sight by half time, the finishing from Falcao and Van Persie especially was criminal. We were really poor in the second half and it could've gone either way at the end really. Would've preferred to see Wilson come on as his pace could've been a winner due to the fatigue but it isn't a terrible result considering everyone looked dead on their feet after half time.

Oh and I forgot, Jonny Evans. Some of his passes in the first 45 minutes, hoofing it forwards to nobody with his left. You can't win a football match if you have one or two players in your team who are that clueless.

Pissed we couldn't take our chances. All the more annoying when you kind of knew a fatigue ridden dullness was going to follow in the second half if we didn't convert.

The EPL have to look at playing two games in 48 hours. It's not an excuse...but we won't be the only team suffering this and overall affecting the entertainment of the game. Just watch later...others will follow. Yes they are professional athletes, but these are intensive games, acres of space covered through running, it's just so stupid.

Disappointed that we couldn't get a win today. Really should have got a goal from that first half, but seems luck just wasn't on our side and their keeper played well. Ah well, a point is better than nothing.

Positives are:
  • We didnt lose
  • We made quite a few chances
  • Game minutes for Shaw, Smalling and Rafael.
  • Mata was great
  • We actually look good as a defensive unit.
  • Looks like we are coming to grips with this 352 formation (finally)
Negatives:
  • Falcao wasnt great - but i think he just needs to be played back into form like RvP was.
  • Didnt win
  • The ref :@

Everyones talking about the first half chances, RVP and Mata had solid chances in the second half and absolutely skied them.

Really bad day in front of goal.

Thought Evans did well today, McNair looked shakier

We were quite good in the first half, and then resorted to hoofing the ball from defense with the midfield going invisible.

Falcao kept falling so many times in the first half, it was like watching Welbeck on a bad day.

RvP was not fully there while Rooney is not going to give consistent performances as a midfielder.

Mata was really good and then the second half happened

I enjoyed the game, although Spurs frustrated us in the first half. They've become somewhat of a bogey team for us of late.

On the balance of play, a draw was fair. We can't keep dropping points like this though with the chances we had. Our away form has to improve.

Watch Spurs roll over for Chelsea now, the cnuts.

Or watch Chelsea outplay them. Not just singling you out here, but I hate this mentality from some on this forum about other teams raising their game against us and rolling over for other teams in the league. The glaringly obvious explanation is that we're just easier to play against than the likes of Chelsea.

The issue with Wilson is that he just offers pace at the moment and not hold up play. With Tottenham's high pressing system, United were always going to have to play the ball long and get RVP and Falcao (who specifically did a terrible job at this today) to control the ball and start an attack. Wilson would have just chased the game and would not have been a real threat to score like has been seen in previous matches.

Tale of two halves. We dominated the first but our strikers let us down. Then we limp to the finish line in the second very lucky to get a draw.

I've been saying for a long while now that RVP is past it and he proves me right again and again. Add Falcao to partner him and we have two players who have no first touch, cannot hold up play and lack creativity, not to mention their inability to take their chances. We lack pace in our side and it shows.

I thought we were above average for us defensively, but nowhere near good enough to challenge for a title. Midfield was much better today.

Amazing that we have spent so much money and still look so average.

This so much

So many say it too

We were pretty dreadful. Created some nice chances in the first half, but although all the credit seems to be going to Lloris, we made it easy for him. Only the Young shot was a good save, the others were tame as hell and straight at him (or just punted straight over, like Mata's!).

I don't think Spurs looked all that either, so a draw is probably a fair result. Bit of a wake up call for both teams, really, who have been riding high on false confidence garnered from stringing together a run of wins against shite teams.

Very disappointing that we never killed off the game in the first half. Mata was man of the match for me, some of them passes he was playing into our forwards were quality and it's a shame that our attacking players were not on the same page today. Very impressed with Young again.

Rafael looks like he over done the Xmas puddings

I will also add that a fool like Clattenburg would have given a penalty on the Rooney grab on Kane. Thank heavens he did not ref this match as it would have most likely seen a pen and red, probably against us.

Our passing was woeful in the second half and having to play 2 games in 48 hours was clearing having its toll on the players. Clearly looked exhausted and jaded in the second half. There was no energy at all in their play, no urgency to get to the second ball.

Sad that LvG didn't have many options to change it around and rotate the squad thanks to injuries. If we had Fellaini, Herrera and Januzaj fit, we'd have seen a completely different side out there today.

Totally outplayed them first half so it's a shame to come out of the match this annoyed.

Finishing was fecking pathetic. Knew by the 4th chance we squandered that we were never going to win today, just lucky Spurs didn't nick it in the end, 2nd half was a joke from us.

Interesting cleavage between United and Spurs fan forums. They think they were unlucky not to win and that United's players are dirty cheating shithouses.

We should've won comfortably, but now we've put pressure back on ourselves to get a result away to Stoke which isn't easy to do. Top 4 is no guarantee right now and three points today would've probably knocked Spurs out of the race when you consider that have Chelsea soon. Would've liked to keep that 5 point gap with Arsenal too.

We should have taken at least one of those chances but it didn't happen. That's the way it is sometimes and Spurs always seems up for games against us. Great first half. Let's build on that and hopefully Herrera and DiMaria to come back soon. Once we get the cobwebs out, we're gonna be absolutely great there's no question about that. I thought before the game a draw would be ok and I'm not terribly disappointed. We didn't lose. That's important. And let's not all get negative. Just move on to the next game.

Need Herrera and Di Maria back in that midfield.

Add a bit of pace and a bit more creativity.

Ahead of who though? I can understand di Maria, but Herrera? Maybe as impact subs but it's not our midfield that has failed today, I'd put this draw down solely to our strikers today.

I do like interesting cleavage.

We were obviously tired in the second half and Spurs resorted to long ball as they couldn't live with our passing.

This match was not nearly as bad as Leicester. Leicester was the worst performance I have seen from United for more than 5 years. Absolute shambolic defending with a red and pens against United. Only the 4-4 against Everton rivals it. Today's match occurs a few times to every team throughout a season hence why teams don't accumulate more than 100 points in this league.

Also, Mata was great. That's how I want him performing all the time. We'll get there.

It is quite annoying how Spurs have remained undefeated against us in the last 5 games. Spurs!

Most disappointing is that I banked on 3 points today so we could relax slightly ahead of the tough Stoke fixture.

Now, anything less then 3 points at Stoke and we've been pegged back over this Xmas period.

First half was great apart from the finishing, we're starting to dominate games home and away, just need a little luck with injuries.
