Criticism of Rashford is not at all uncalled for, he's been very bad for quite a bit now. I understand him being young but whether he's a winger or not constantly running the ball out of play and not even challenging for headers is ridiculous. No one expects him to score every game but he's not at all had a good season so he should be criticised as every other player in the team is.

Ok, depends on what the criticism is then. I think the defensive contribution he gives is much better than Martial's at the minute. Yes he is constantly running balls out, which frustrates me just like the next guy, but coming from playing centrally for the most part last season, the adaption unfortunately is not instant and therefore will require time. And I think Jose's management of him is still to be determined. I still feel he should be an out and out striker, but Zlatan of course keeps him out of it. For me, if he is going to be changed into a LW then he needs time to learn and adapt.

Dele Alli is so despicable. For me he tops even Diego Costa. The player I dislike the most in EPL.

What exactly happened to Shaw? Still don't know.
Yeah the criticism towards Rashford is uncalled for, he puts in a good shift almost always. Can't expect him to score every match, especially now that he is out wide more than last season.

Edit: :D

I haven't really read the forum since the game but I can understand if there has been comments regarding Rashford because I could empathise with Mourinho getting on his back during the game.

He kept shirking out of challenges and instead of getting up into aerieal duals he had his feet planted on the ground while his opponent rode him.

He needs to get stuck in, get a shoulder in there, barge his man out the way, don't be afraid to get a yelllow, chase down hard, snap at some ankles, put his weight into some challenges and generally make a nuisance of himself. When you're playing in the final third hassling your opponents right back you shouldn't fear giving away a needless foul when you're 1-0 up, in the opposition half, in the 80th minute.

I like him a lot and think he'll offer a lot more at 9 but he needs to show more with the chances he's given out wide. I won't judge him on his crossing or general wing play, I will judge him on his general application.

Great win, should have been 3-0. Herrera was everywhere. Not impressed with Kane at all, Rojo kept him in his pocket virtually.

Badly needed win and we managed to get through this.We looked much better and I never felt like we where hanging on the back with the that narrow lead.Miki is pure class hope his injury is not any serious.Jones/Rojo where brilliant as well.

We should have won this game by a comfortable margin as well.Still concerned about not capitalising more

Step by step mate. Seeing the 1-0 out, and breaking our worst winless home league run for what must be 20+ years was the essential bit. Add in beating a top half team when we've hardly done that, and it's a fine day.

Need to take advantage of this quick fire set of league games now.

Great win. I was very nervous with Jones and Rojo in the heart of our defense but they were solid. Valencia also did well. The only negative for Darmian back there who just doesn't look up to the standard required.

Herrera was everywhere. Pogba was pretty good. Had that free kick gone in it would be a contender for goal of the season.

Mik was causing problems again and his goal was superb. Hope his injury isn't a bad one.

Zlatan wasn't involved as much as I would like but did create some chances.

Spurs are a strange side. They are good but they are also dirty. I thought the ref gave them some leniency today that was fortunate for them. I used to not mind Spurs but the way they play now makes me cringe and I hope some of their pricks get injured in the same manner as the crap they are dishing out.

I'm asking for you to remind me of all the world class saves DDG had to make?
In the first half Spurs had a free kick which got past the wall, was hit hard, curving and bounced just before DDG pushed it wide. That was an excellent save. Watch the highlights when they're up if you want.

I agree completely with that, but I'm referring to the more harsher criticism maybe.
Going to copy some of what I said to the other bloke

yeah that goes without saying. We were bound to win one of these games by the law of averages as we played exactly the same or similar in level to all the games where we finished up drawing from winning positions. The problem is still there even though we dominated the game and had the far better chances.

Slight change of topic but did you see that fecking gargantuan header that Baily won (can't remember who it was against), it was on the left wing about 15 yards from their Penalty area. I swear he jumped over the player to win it lol!!

Pretty comfortable save really and it was only one.

As I said Lloris was tested much more than DDG. You made it sound like we were hanging on when in reality Spurs created little.

Darmian has been our best left back recently, hence why he has started the last 4 or 5 games. Dont listen to the muppet Gary Neville, he says something then has to keep repeating it until the end of the game, to justify himself as a top pundit.
Watch it with your own eyes.

Darmian was at best average today and then when Sissoko came on today things got decidedly worse. He just got bullied and ragdolled by Sissoko time and again. He is better on the right and Blind should play before Darmian. Whatever your opinion is what is clear is that if he wants to stay in this league he needs to bulk up fast.

That was an insane leap, and I was a little worried that he'd ruin himself how he landed. But shouldn't have worried, he's a colossus.

One of Rojo and Jones are certainly on borrowed time with him back.

I do wonder how frail Smalling's toe is that he's been out so long with it

Blind is clever, and doesn't let even the fastest wingers do what Sissoko did today, so goodness knows why Darmian is in first.

Played with fire again in the last 20 minutes. Really need to learn how to kill of games but it was a good performance over all and a good one. For me Rojo just pipped Miki to MoM if for no other reason than his performance was a surprise. Also ace performances from Herrera, Carrick and Pogba. Not for the first time, Zlatan faded as game went on and do think Rashford or Rooney should replace him when this happens. Is Shaw injured because no idea how Darmian gets a start ahead of him. Also have to say that it did look as if we caught Spurs on an off day. Now e have to go on a run of four or five wins.... (not holding my breath).

Missed the game (will watch later) but heard G Ballague say this was a game of two halves. Anyone care to give a quick summary?

Are you joking ?
The extent of de gea's saves: Shot from outside the box right at him from Eriksen. Low ish free kick that was a standard save from de gea when eriksen tried to take it De Gea's side, but de gea saw it coming. Also same thing when he tried to catch de gea out and take it quickly, but again, de gea was there and had a pretty standard save.

Their biggest threat was when Valencia fell asleep off the set piece that Wanyama had a chance, but the ball was a bit behind him and he tried to pass it more then anything. Decent chance, but really, from open play, they were completely toothless and de gea hardly had much to do. We do need to defend set pieces better though.

Come on, he's basically a kid. Costa is a grown man who does way worse.

So is Martial, Rashford, Shaw and bunch of others. He is cocky, he likes to kick and he likes to dive. I think that's his character, part of his persona. Age is a factor, but not really relevant in this case.

lol @ smallings toe. Someone should have that as their name on here. Yes, I too was clenching my teeth when I saw how he was going to land after bounding over a tall building. I think Jones deserves to partner Baily. There have been a couple of challenges and tackles I would have expected Jones to limp from but he pulled through alright. Can you imagine having 2 beasts like that at the back, what a change that would make from the last 3 seasons? They only slight concern is that there would be a lack of intelligence between them on the pitch as they are both brute force players who is going to martial them.

I enjoyed Man Utd's attacking in the 1st half.

So happy they could close it out. Jones and Rojo played well in the center.
