Post-match discussion

Someone mentioned Ballague, so checked out his twitter.

Almost stepped away when he was hailing Pulis, for me one of the absolute killers of football enjoyment.

Then he had this genius tweet

Stand up those who think Pep's tactics were to blame for being 2-0 down after 5 minutes... but of course some will still blame him for it

Who the bloody hell's fault is it then?!

That is such a cool story, you should make a dedicated thread to their fanclub \ your experience of watching the match with them, would be a brilliant read.

I imagine they would be well chuffed with their fan club being discussed on the biggest United fan forum
.

Do they have beer?

This is a MUFC fan club in an African village 20 miles from Arusha, in Tanzania, near to Mount Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti. Its very remote, off the tourist track, and in the middle of nowhere. They have live screening on match days, so lucky for me, I found a place where I watched the game with fellow Reds!

Just got back to my lodging after the game. What an amazing experience. Am amazed at our global reach.

Around 100 Masai fans turned up, many of them simple farmers, clad in their classic red robes and some with hunting spears. Most drank a local moonshine connotation which is crudely brewed from potato's; its basically unrefined vodka with a very high alcohol % - they drink it out of half pint cups and it looks like a liquid potato mash. I don't drink, and don't think I'd have tried it if I did, but by kick off they were all quite off it and vaguely psychotic.

I was taken to this venue and sponsored by a local who is also acting as my tour guide in the region, so I was welcomed. And I had a great chat with several fans before the game. Although I cant speak Masai-Swahili and they couldn't speak English, using thumbs up and thumbs down, we managed to have conversations.

I was amazed at the in depth knowledge they had. In summary, most are sympathetic and supportive of Mourinho and advocate patience. But they were very critical of Rooney and poor old Fellaini. In fact, when Fellaini was shown to be warming up just before the end, almost all of them started to jeer with agitation! Likewise their was deep angst at the Mhkitaryan injury as everyone knew he was finally showing some form.

When Mhkitaryan scored, they all performed some kind of tribal chant and dance; the potato vodka moonshine had kicked in. I couldn't get my iPhone camera into gear so missed VDO recording it, but it was nuts; something Ive never seen or could have expected. Same happened at the final whistle, they has their own song which was very uplifting. But I didn't dare take any photo's as my guide informed me that many Masai believe photographing them is an attempt to steal their soul .... its quite risky business.

Was quite a surreal experience which I doubt Ill ever forget!

So glad we got the win! We can make top 4, lets go on a run of wins now!

For me it was a toss up between him and Mky. Never seen a player go from outhouse to penthouse so fast in my life. If there is a most approved award Rojo deserves it.

To be fair he is a shocking LB, but he is useful at CB. Had a really good game today.

Great stuff.

8 games unbeaten. Would be great to keep that going through the festive fixtures into new year at least.

Fellaini's duh!

Fantastic win for us today, I think had we drawn or lost this one then there would be too much ground to make up on reaching the top four.

I almost had a heart attack when the referee decided to add 6 minutes. Nonetheless, we played well. One thing that worries me is the way we defend so deep. Without quick wingers (bar Miki or Martial) we can't counter attack and usually when we collect the ball the only man up top is Zlatan, who holds it up well, but it gives time for the opposition to go back and defend. I don't know what happened to Rashford but his dribbling recently is quite frustrating, to say to least. Whenever he is driving forward, he goes out with the ball or loses it in some clumsy fashion.

Old Trafford was quite loud today. Really wish that this kind of atmosphere would become a standard.

Great win....big win...Miki was fantastic again....Pogba was non-existent again...did nothing in my book..he's a lazy player and seems that he complains to the ref more than playing good football. We need to start scoring more goals...Miki set up Ibra perfectly early in the second half but Ibras speed or lack thereof couldn't get on the end of the pass....we are getting better match by match....btw where was Mata?

Good win against a good side. They had a lot of the ball in the 2nd half but we had all the best chances, and it's another game we really should have had 3 or 4. Spurs didn't really look like scoring today.

Nah I don't think Pogba has set the world alight so far in his return to Utd, but today he was pretty good I thought. Yes he held on to the ball too long at times, but he put in a responsible and necessarily physical performance in midfield, against a Spurs midfield/flanks who are very difficult to play against. He was carrying Darmian for 20 mins in that second half.

A great win .

I can see why we are linked to Payet in January. Him on left for couple of years until Martial is ready for a starting spot.

Good solid performance, despite carrying passengers on the left flank. Pogba missed a glorious chance in the second minute, by shooting straight at the keeper when clean through. Mkhi's goal put us deservedly in front and then unlucky with Pogba's thunderous free kick crashing off the post. Spurs are now a horrible mix of thuggery and diving cheats, which surprise, surprise, the referee failed to deal with. Hope that Mkhi's injury isn't too serious, as he's in great form, but a chance for Mata to come back on the right hand side. Starting to look like a solid and settled team, but those places on the left are up for grabs. Maybe Blind at left back next time and a recall for either Pereira or Januzaj in January?

Awesome!

Darmian has been our best left back recently, hence why he has started the last 4 or 5 games. Dont listen to the muppet Gary Neville, he says something then has to keep repeating it until the end of the game, to justify himself as a top pundit.
Watch it with your own eyes.

I wasn't even watching on sky so not too sure what Nev had to say about it, but based on watching him I think he's awful there. Gets beaten 1-on-1 so easily, has no composure on the ball, goes missing when he's put under pressure.

I suppose you could argue he's been our best LB this season sadly (i would disagree, i think Blind's done better when called upon) but it doesn't mean he's good enough. If Shaw can't recover his form and Jose doesn't fancy Blind or Rojo there, surely we need to try something/bring someone else.

Agreed I'm hoping it's just a confidence issue, I long for the day we have a 2 goal lead

Our problem is not holding on to a lead, our problem is we aren't capable of increasing our lead. If keep having matches were we can only put 1 goal on the board we are going to drop alot more points and have disappointing results.

In that regard, this game hans't been a step forward only today we were lucky enough that the opposing team didn't score a goal, they had a big chance to do it with Wanyama's free header. Not that they would have deserved a point but neither did Arsenal or Everton, the thing is if you keep waisting good chances, you will keep dropping points and we are still waisting alot of chances. I still need to see a game were we put 3 or 4 in the net versus a good team and get a comfortable win.

Has to go down as a step forward because we saw the game out and only gave them 1 chance

Nice.

Good team performance.
Mkhi Herrera Jones and Rojo pick of the crop.
Darmian poor second half.
Deserved the win and held on to the lead and clean sheet which will boost confidence.

Bonus for the weekend, of those above us City & Spurs losing - Liverpool drawing with West Ham - and yet these teams are so much better than us and we have no hope of top 4 - yeah right!

Good performance, which seems pretty standard. Finally got the points to match it though. Which is absolutely key.

No real complaints with any player, apart from Damian perhaps. He looked a bit shaky.

Really hope the Mkhitaryan injury isn't anything serious. He's looking immense at the minute.

Amazing story and worthy of a separate thread I think. Reminds me of a farm-hand I met in the middle of rural Kenya who'd listen to every Arsenal game on radio and seemed to know everything about the club.

Whatever the La Liga fanboys say, their clubs never attract passion like this.
