Fair result in the end. Watford were the better team in the first 15 and for parts of the second half. Lukaku is making me really tired of him although he had some good passes.

Young MOTM. If not for two pieces of brilliance from him we might have drawn this in the end.
You never did answer the million people who asked you what you think would be a fair sentence for Robinho in his gang rape conviction.

Very entertaining game. It was a shame we let them back into the game but Lingard scored a beauty to settle it.

Lukaku needs a kick up the backside.

he ranged from good (involved in the goals) to outright embarrassing I have to say, mate. I think he may break his duct vs Arsenal as they are a soft touch.

Yeah his performance was mixed but he wasn't totally shite like people are saying. He made a few good chances for himself and don't think he's far off being back amongst it. Every single forward has a period like this. Just look at Kane not scoring for a month.

I did. See my new post in that thread.

Yet another game where we could have laid down a marker but we weren't professional/ruthless enough. We need to go past 4 goals to show that this team has a higher performance in it. Happy about the win but looking at it on from a broader view (mine admittedly), a few players had solid games but on the whole, we underperformed.

Just had a look at Watford's forum, most of them genuinely thought before the game they were going to thrash us and now they're seriously salty  Love it when these nothing clubs put together a decent run of 10 games and the fans start thinking they're golden era Barca all of the sudden.

On the game, we were cruising until Rojo decided to make an idiotic challenge (seeing it again, he might have got the ball first tbf, but lunging in from behind inside your own box is still stupid). He was a liability all game, hopefully he gets his form back soon as he is a top defender at his best, difficut as it may be to believe on today's showing. Lindelöf on the other hand was absolutely imperious all game today, picking up where he left off last game. Long may it continue :D

On to Arsenal, perfect game for Lukaku to bag a couple of goals to shut up a few posters on here..

Enjoyable, but never really had control at any point! If we're going to play 3 at the back we should play 3 in midfield and do a proper 3-5-2, because Pogba and Matic didn't have a clue all game.

Very happy though - despite my reservations about how we've approached a few games this year it's great to see how much more organised and disciplined we are. The "sitting deep" tactic will see us lose soon enough though - it's not smart.

I don't get some of you lot.

The pre match thread was full of people nervous we would get beat yet we go away from home to a team in excellent form and score 4 goals. Yes they nicked a couple but I think it was obvious they always were going to in the form they are in and at home. Vicerage Road is a bit of a bogey ground for United so just be happy we got the win you miserable shower of cnuts

Like Basel, we should have been well and truly out of sight by the final third of the game but needless fannying around and wastefulness in front of goal came close to costing us.

Lukaku's head has dropped, would really like to try Martial and Rashford up front for the Arsenal game but I suppose that will make his confidence drop further. Those misses today were almost unforgivable. If Mickey had done the same thing he'd have been dropped ages ago, but I can see what Jose is doing trying to keep the faith. Two assists aren't bad either.

Three best players on the night (in order) were:

1. Young
2. Lindelöf
3. Martial

Hoping all three start at the weekend.

Two assists? The one to Martial and...? Was he the one fouled before Young's second?

Nah I was thinking of the turn that created the other one. Lingard played the final pass.

Anyway he wasn't as bad as the Einstein's here think and a panel of pundits seem to agree with me on BT

Yeah, all those 4 goals games. When we finally score 6 we'll definitely lay a marker.

Until then, not good enough imo.

its worse for him because when he misses sitters like tonight it does not paper over his other flaws and it looks worse. That pass at the end was one of the worst I have seen for a long time. Looked like he was trying to shoot from the halfway line

The Lingard goal was amazing, although what the hell was that pose at the end supposed to be? :D

I don't get people like you. Many are worried that we don't stamp our authority on the smaller teams and some are worried about our attack, Lukaku in particular. I, personally, am super happy about the points but can't help but notice the worrying signs.

We were sluggish for the first 20 minutes or so and then came to life when Young scored, it wasn't a great team performance but there were some excellent individual moments in the game, and I thought the back 3 played well for the most part. I was also glad to see that Mourinho's response to Watford getting back into the game was to go for the 4th rather than try to cling on to 3-2.

It's as if some of you never watched United under Fergie.

Ah, the Fergie straw man. Yes, some haven't seen the first years. However, times have changed and we either accept that we are massive and require more or we accept that we are not what we used to be and are happy with less. Winners vs. losers, in life and on the pitch. Depends how you like it.

I'm not sure you grasp the point. We won plenty of games against lesser teams in the same way we beat Watford tonight. We also lost plenty (under SAF)

To surmise it doesn't really matter. The bigger picture is we are having our best season since Sir Alex left. Fact. We are scoring goals and have blitzed our CL group. Fact.

Why people are so negative is beyond me. Just get behind the team.

Good performance on the whole but Lukaku's form gets more worrying with every game his hesitation when put through by Rashford as he tried desperately to shift the ball from his right foot onto his left was laughable , he needs to find form again very quickly or Zlatan will need to get up to speed rapidly if not we will have to throw Martial in at CF

Because it's too early to count your chickens

Massive win for confidence! Lukaku should have scored that open goal. Lingard's goal reminded of Giggsy's goal vs Spurs all those years ago!
Bring on the Arsenal!

All about momentum - this was a tough test and if we can win our next two PL games the league is wide open.

Oh piss off with the “worrying signs” crap. Some of the recent performances have been a worry. Tonight was anything but. A comfortable win against one of the form teams in the league, away from home. When our away form has generally been poor. Great stuff and nobody should have anything but good vibes about tonight’s game.

What's even more encouraging is that we managed it without Pogba having that big of an influence. Especially away from home.

3-0 by half time, Watford got 2 goals close together and we responded by scoring another to show our dominance.

'worrying signs'
'flattering to deceive'
'false dawn'
'blessing in disguise'
'elephant in the room'

Wow!!
I know that for some reason our guys only play one half of football per match but..... I can't believe how close it was in the end. Huge relief and much happiness :). I was worried beforehand but the team did really well. Now to replicate against Arsenal but with a clean sheet for Dave!

That was thoroughly entertaining to watch despite us being lackluster for much of it.

Young was my MotM but Martial was class.

His duct is made of stern stuff. Sitty might be a rougher plumbing experience.

That was won on moments of individual skill. As a team we still look poor going forward. That needs to be addressed.
