The joys and frustration's of supporting Man UTD. Absolutely cruising, 2 up, game going nowhere and the team switches right off, resulting in a very nervy last quarter. 3pts, Pogs back next week and still 2nd.

We need to drill this out of the players. Can’t imagine this passivity is intentional, but it is happening again and again. We’re scoring the hard goals, but not taking advantage of when teams are getting desperate and hitting them with counter threats. When they are throwing such numbers forward, you don’t need to offer that much going forward to get good chances.

If we don’t look to continue to score when ahead, it is inevitable we will drop points and get punished for this mode of play.

What do you expect? Expansive football all the time? You should manage your expectations.
Nope just not having to revert to backs to the wall tactics against shite like WBA or Brighton, standards are so low here it's incredible actually.

Got the win, so I’m happy about that.

I’m not typically concerned with the style of the win, especially with Pogba out, but I do agree with some of the sentiment of taking the foot off the gas.

Barry and Hegazi deserve some sort of retrospective punishment for the De Gea incident. Barry looked dead at DDG’s leg during the stamp, and Hegazi kicked at the ball while it was cradled in DDG’s stomach.

We went to pieces the second Valencia came off. I think people underestimate what a good outlet he is for us. Bringing Rojo on was a very poor choice. Brought panic to the defence.

When we play 4-2-3-1, the gap between the 2 and 3 is massive. The two need to be box to box players rather than holding players. I still think 4-3-3 would be best for us.

We really need to get rid of some of the deadwood and inject some quality in midfield and wide areas. It’s shocking that after so much money spent, we struggle to keep possession against West Brom.

Good first half performance, but second half was shambolic. We sat back, showed zero attacking intent, conceded a jammy set piece goal and struggled in the last 15 minutes to actually keep possession. I know Pogba is out, but that still doesn’t give any excuse for what we saw in the second half. Absolutely dreadful and I hope we don’t see that again.

Not great, but we got the 3 points at least. Don't understand why we are giving away so many goals from set pieces though.

alright first half went to sleep second half. what is it with us and comceding from set pieces all of a sudden?
Seems like a lack of conviction when clearing the ball or competing for it, hopefully we can straighten it out sharpish.

Great that we keep winning but jesus, can we not put together one performance this season?! That second half was awful, and the last 20 were beyond dreadful. Doesn't seem to matter if its Arsenal or Barnet, we always seem to be in control, and then decide to give up that control. I don't get it.

What does Herrera offer?

If Woody has any sense he should retract the comtract offer he made a few months ago, the way he us playing is nothing short of criminal.

I would give the kid McTominay a chance ahead of Herrera, surely can't do any worse!

Still think Martial should be first name on the team sheet
he should be , but perhaps he has offended lord mourinio in some way or has not paid proper homage , same as mhki who has lost his place to Lingard who should not be even on the cleaning staff at old trafford . Enjoy your days at old trafford Jose because if you think this shitttt is acceptable in the long run while city build a dynasty of tactically brilliant football you are very very much mistaken.

3 points but very poor 2nd half. Matic was good. Lingard ok. Herrera very very poor.

Clearest indication in the 2nd half that we all wish we had Guardiola as our manager,2-0 up at half time and West Brom are there for a royal caning, instead we sit back, invite pressure! I am a Mourinho fan but there is something about him that just doesnt get what being Utd manager is all about!!

Not a good second half performance, but in such a busy schedule every win, especially away, is an important one.

Pogba is back for the next games, so that's a bonus. Hope Valencia injury isn't bad.

Yeah the one time we did play in the end was against Arsenal with 10 men lol. We did better in that game than today against a very poor West Brom.

Still though we won without a massive effort and with Pogba back hopefully we can play better against Leicester. It is not all down to one player though, but I think we will improve in our attack at least.

@Ban that's why all the doom and gloom pre-match mate, we just shite without Pogba.
Look mate, we are bad wtihout him but not that shit we dont expect us to win vs WBA. Sure we need Poggers back asap and he's back and we need additions in CM but the negativity here sometimes is something else.

Last I checked Lingard has consistently been one of our best players this season.

Best bit was when the home fans hadn't made a peep for about 70 minutes as United out-sang them throughout, scored the shittest of goals which quietened the away end a bit, then they start singing "your support is fecking shit", and then they leave before the 90th minute despite looking still for an equaliser.

I hope Pardew sends them down.

We are as entertaining as watching paint dry but the important thing is the result , and he we got that right , so decent day out for us.

Yeah, also the fecking bus chant from City caught on, sung by a team who had 9 players behind the ball most of the game and started with three defensive midfielders the whole fecking season.

I am now having the feeling the Mourinho tenure is going to end up badly for United. He seems to have lost the ability to think. We have good players who can play in midfield in these circumstances and who can control the ball so why does he not bring in Blind into midfield when we need to hold the ball?
He has played in midfield and played well under LVG. Damian is a better right back than Young.

then you need to open your eyes , hes not utd standard but hes not alone , neither is jones or smalling or herrara or shaw and having rashford stard ahead of martial is just laughable

This may be the first Mourinho team that is poor at defending set pieces.

Two weeks running we have gifted goals to the opposition by not organising, or clearing, our lines at set pieces.

We were entirely comfortable until our sloppy set piece work opened the door for them. Having seen City and West Brom profit other sides will target us at set pieces.

Yet another "a win is a win / we could have lost that, last year" performance.

Stop it. You aren’t allowed to criticise on this board. If you do, you will get lynched for having a difference of opinion from the cult of Mourinho group :D

When it will start, what do you reckon?

Blind in midfield? As if that would work.
And no he hasn't been good in midfield under LVG

We're a bit like someone who has learned to play one strong character very well in a video game and has managed to beat most people by sticking to one move. Not pretty but effective.

Playing the way we are, it’s a minor miracle we are only 11 points off top position! I keep thinking the tide will turn and Utd may actually start performing and playing for 90 min to justify the talent they have but each passing game that seems a futile expectation.

Of course he was good in midfield. He was then injured and Carrick came back and he went back to defence. He would be a good player to come in to replace Mata or Herrera as a sub. He has very good ball control, can tackle and pass very well too.

Valencia injury disrupted everything. Was looking like a totally routine victory until then. Gotta say the way we defend narrow leads is pathetic. Heads gone all over the place. That set piece that De Gea lost track of is a goal any other day when our luck isn’t quite in.

Still, looking at the table I’m starting to look down, not up, and saw Arsenal 8 points behind us in 4th having played the same amount. That’s decent. There’s a gap between us and 5th opening up that is similar to the one between City and us.

If we keep winning, it’ll take the pressure off later in the season when we need to rotate hopefully for a run at some trophies.

I don't remember him to be good. Teams were going through him with ease.

Complete lack of determination in that second half, and lost all bottle and drive. Glad to have gone away with the win, but could have easily been so different.
If we had no determination and drive, how did we grind out the win? What game were you watching? And, no, it couldn't have been so different: Mourinho knows how to defend.

We seem to constantly have these periods in games where we can't keep the ball or string 3 passes together we just keep giving it straight back - this is WBA for christ's sake and they played us off the park for 15 minutes or more, thats just not good enough. Definitely need to start working on some ball retention drills urgently. What happened to us killing games off like we did earlier in the season ? - this sitting back and inviting pressure nonsense is killing me we should be ripping teams like this apart when they commit men forward with the quality we're supposed to have ! And never play Rojo at right back ever again bring Fosu-Mensa back if necessary the loon was appalling and almost scored an own goal to top it off - he's a centre back or nowt ...

Agreed mate. Herrera looks like a fecking pub footballer. Absolutely stealing a living this season.

McTominay has looked very composed for such a young lad.
