FA D FA Cup Quarter-Final

Manchester United 1:1 West Ham United

Post-match discussion

Watching United these days is such a bore. I got to agree with Adidas. What's sad is that there are signs of some Van Gaalzation of the forum because of this. Sack him already. I'm not even a supporter but this is painful.

Shite. We actually played well I thought, but didn't have the luck of the bounce or the ref on our side, and the goal coming completely against the run of play. If we managed to get a second goal today then I would've been pretty confident for Liverpool as well.. Not sure with just a draw now, but at least we didn't lose and still have a small chance away from home

LVG got lucky.
Fellaini should have never started.

Ref wasn't great.

Thank goodness we didn't go out on that refeereeing bottle job. That'd have left a sour taste.
Lovely little finish from Martial, and we're still in it.

Schweinsteiger is class on the ball, we forget that very easily.Hope his influence ties us through this mad spell over a week now of Pool,City, QF replay

Overall an average performance. Exactly what you would expect from 5 v 6th.

De Gea - Kept us in the game
Varela - good performance. Should start over Darmian from now on.
Smalling - solid
Blind - good passing but should play in DM
Rojo - backup to Shaw please
Fellaini- only had two jobs, be the outlet and win the headers, didn't do either particularly well but wasn't a cock up either
Carrick - fantastic servant but it's time to move on
Herrera - good energy and was fulcrum. Better no 10 then Mata
Lingard - good lively and massive running but not first XI material at this point
Rashford - coming back down to earth but show flashes of brilliance
Martial - best attacker but it's all down to him. If he has a bad game we don't have a chance

Subs

Depay - no impact, no confidence, maybe Adnan next time?
BS - move the ball quickly, quickened the tempo, he needs to be kept fresh for the run in
Darmian - just the last few minutes played.

Hey..Atkinson is a real cnut isn't he? I mean the guy really really makes so many mistakes in all the matches he officiates. Surely there is scrutiny here by someone. I'm not saying we would have won, no...but the standard of his referring is so poor.

How on earth is this worse than what it was looking like, a 1-0 defeat, with a terrible ref decision

It's awful. Win or a loss so we didn't have to deal with replay (an inevitable loss quite frankly).

Poor yet again. I have just about had enough of LVG now. If we don't move him on in the summer the club can feck off.

Yet again we offered nothing until we went a goal behind. West Ham are a much better side nowaday but we are Manchester United at Old Trafford. Absolute embarassment and the sad thing is it is now what I expect.

Tactics wrong, players on the pitch wrong just about everything wrong. The team has no confidence on the ball whatsoever. Appalling really.

Still shite, but at least it wasn't embarrassing.

The defending was cack. Blind has been shite for weeks. Rojo is a joke. Carrick is off it.

We're such a boring team. Slow and lacking creativity.

We were the better team and should've won. Needed to win today though, I think we'll lose the replay considering our abysmal away form

I thought that was a bright performance with the youngsters stealing the show again.

Well done West Ham, you had a great gameplan and what a fecking goal!

Much rather have lost.

Imagine an oppo fan seeing and pitying us that we are stuck with that fraud. Cannot believe some of our fan base and the board are oblivious to it. If I was not a fan, I would have preferred watching paint dry.

Ref was a disgrace, again. Getting about 5 corners and 10 free kicks the wrong way can happen, but not giving a yellow card for a blatant dive is just cowardly.

I've got the feeling the refs are jumping on the sack LVG bandwagon too.

Still in the cup!! Don't really know how but we still have a slim chance. Didn't think it was the worst we played but it was still far from impressive. Some half decent displays but we just don't play like a good team going forwards. Much harder to beat West Ham at theirs but it's possible.

Atkinson is getting a bad reputation for himself now. He lately doesn't have a great record with us but he has been pretty terrible across the board regardless of who he is refereeing. It's another two bad decisions he made today (1 for, 1 against) and perhaps it's time he hung up his boots.

what about the penalty appeal for WHU? It was a clear foul and should have been given. None of our penalty claimes held any water.

I'd say we were slightly the better team, and if the ref wasn't utterly atrocious we wouldn't have conceded since Payet would've been off (not to mention the other two dozen smaller decisions he gave against us). Of course, there was no guarantee we would have scored in that situation either, so it wouldn't have surprised me if it had finished 0-0 for the same result. But we'll never know.

Looked immeasurably better without Fellaini. The stats back that up too. We win more often without him. We talk about Schweinsteiger being slow, but he's mobile and we looked a lot quicker with him in the midfield, because he can play the ball quickly. He doesn't need 7 touches before picking a pass. Schweinsteiger also knows where to be and what to do as a midfielder. Fellaini doesn't and just goes launching about.

I don't think we'll beat them at their place. Our away form is pisspoor.

Starting Fellaini was always going to be disastrous! All on LvG this one!

Well yes! This is what we are reduced to now. Congratulating the opposition for doing well at OT. But please save some of those congratulatory messages for Pool when they come over on Thursday.

For much of the game it was the same cowardly shit we've seen all season. When we chased them down it was at least fun.

Good to see us show some fight to get level but think that's us out

West Ham are good at home and with it being the last FA Cup game at Upton Park they will be up for it

Same crap different day.

A pointless return leg which will be the last fa cup game at West Ham.

so of course we're going to lose it.

Yeah, a loss and the atmosphere would have been terrible on Thursday, let's hope we can all get up for it on Thursday.
