What a strange thing to say... It certainly wasn't any of their players.
Wasn't he the one van Gaal called fat? Defended us a lot this season and seems the least stupidest of the journalists.
Loves Jose like everyone else loves Pep thats basically it. He is still a twat.
Would have liked to have seen more of Gomes. He did more in those 5 minutes than Mata did all game. Mata didn't really do much wrong, but Gomes came on and immediately went at them. Good to see.
Pitch was awful. Looking forward to seing Sanchez play where the ball doesn't bobble all over the place when he runs with it. He was practically juggling it when he played Herrera in.
Harsh on Mata.
We are going to be a real force with Sanchez and especially when players around him click.
On a sour note, Lindelof gives me the willies.
So it was a good game to get that experienceHe struggles against this kind of opposition, and will need to step up his aerial game if he is to become a good defender for us.
So it was a good game to get that experience
I just didWhich nutters have rated Angel Gomes as MOTM???![]()
We made them look like a Premier League team early on in the game. They even managed to make Romero work on certain occasions. But it turned out great in the end, so kudos to the (light version of our) team for that.
It was an avant-goût of our eventual trip to the Etihad. Bald opposition manager, check. Stadium resounding with boos and choruses of "What a waste of money!" whenever Alexis touches the ball, check. Stadium filled to bursting, ch-, er let's keep that one pending, shall we? You never know with City.
But what to say about Alexis? After shrugging off that X-rated tackle by Smith he completed ruled the game. Smith's Indian summer spent in a meditation retreat a year and a half ago couldn't dull his aggressiveness in that instance, but what followed was true football nirvana by Alexis. We played to his rhythm, awaited his sparks of flair to pounce on and boy did he oblige. He mesmerised the defense, made eagle-eyed passes through the congested pack of green shirts, and when needed, wrenched the ball away from the opposition players. On one occasion he even seemed to do a Jedi mind trick, sending two Yeovil players sprawling in random directions. Maybe it's too early to call, but I think the no. 7 shirt has at last found a (very diminutive, it has to be said) owner.
I enjoyed the game far more than I expected to. Expectations have been dashed by my team in the past, and even the hype surrounding our Chilean maestro hadn't engendered great hope of a good game for me. And, at first we struggled significantly, even for a second string selection. But I did end up enjoying the game after all that happened. I particularly liked that Mourinho kept the steam up by replacing attacking players with ones of similarly offensively-oriented ones, and was rewarded by two more goals. Lingard again surprised me with his impressive run and nicely taken goal, though why I should still be surprised after him consistently proving his critics wrong, I simply do not know.
Of course we do need to see how the usual first team gels together with Alexis in it. I still have no idea where he will end up playing with Martial in the team, and how he will link up with Lukaku. And true, it was only Yeovil. But I hope it's the beginning of a new era, clichéd as that might sound.
I should not say this after a 4-0 win but I really do not see what positives Mata brings to the game now.
We have completed a month without conceding a goal.

Fantastic result and a very good 2nd half on a dreadful pitch. Sanchez MOTM for being the difference when it mattered.
