This tour help our business side of club, Asia is big Market.
Its also show our fan following in world base, which means more sponsors and more sponsors means more money to spend.
There is nothing wrong with this tour unless you do your preparation wrong.

I dont give a nuns furry chuff about any of that when it starts to have a negative impact on the team.

Louis van Gaal says Manchester United’s China trip ‘not good preparation’

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/apr/02/louis-van-gaal-manchester-united-china-trip

I was involved in every step of the planning, the club wanted to go for a fortnight but I got it down to eight days, which is more like six days,” he said. “I have played as a player in a tournament in Shanghai and we could not train. It is only because of the commercial reasons that we are going. I know a club like Manchester United must do that, but it is not a very good preparation, because we will have a lot of players involved in the European Championships who will be tired.”

“I shall try to do some training but the humidity is so high that when I was there we could only do it at seven in the morning or nine in the evening,” Van Gaal said. “Having said that, when I was with Sparta Rotterdam we won the tournament. Then we went home and won the next six league matches. The training was no use, but it seemed to work from a team-building point of view.”
Good old Louis. Glad he got it down to a week. Can you imagine if we were stuck out there for another week, dealing with shit weather, pitches, humidity etc etc.? Can't say LVG never did us a favour:D

The pitch
That doesn’t look great

FFS, I've drawn turf out of fields that would have made for better football pitches than that.

There's TE="Ballache, post: 19557403, member: 13892"]We should really just stick to the US from now on.[/QUOTE]
There's crap weather in US too, sometimes.
I remember City had a game called off in Houston (I think) due to lightning.
We'll be going into new season with only 3 games played (Bayern, Dortmund and Arsenal).

Did it give any negative impact?
Its only one friendly cancel, we should have prepare better for this.
We still have more then 10 days so we could have done better job in organizing this games.
Football run with money, and Asia is big market, it would be stupid to ignore this market.

Feck me, he's like a prophet in this.

Ehh...probably not relevant. Just a comment on the idiocy of the 'traffic jam' games last season, which of course I realize can't all be placed on LVG.

Good the match was cancelled

1) A Manchester derby should be never played in pre-season.....especially with the Mourinho vs Guardiola factor

2) That pitch :wenger:.....i don't think any pitch in Africa is so awful like that one

I loosely translated this article:
Management of Bird Nest does not agree that it is the bad condition of the turf that caused the cancellation of the match, they need 3rd party agency with authority to ascertain this point

The cancellation of the friendly match between Manchester United and Manchester City is very much due to the bad condition of the turf, both teams were not willing to play in such conditions. Tenxun Sports contacted the person in-charge of stadium/match operations of Bird Nest regarding this, and he does not agree with it.

When contacted, Mr He said "there is no problem with the turf". He said they need an evaluation from a 3rd party agency to ascertain that the turf is really not suitable for match, or not. At the moment, it is only of the opinions of the 2 clubs that the condition of the turf is bad, "but we do not agree that it is the turf that caused the cancellation".

Upon being shown the photos of the turf, he said they still need a 3rd party agency to evaluate. Now, it is very subjective, they need to see figures from the evaluation of the 3rd party agency.

In preparation for this match, they started laying new turf in early July. They used grasses for the winter/cold seasons. Those grasses is definitely not as good as those of summer/hot seasons in this time of the year, but he still insisted that they do not agree that it is the conditions of the turf that caused the cancellation.

Sound like textbook Communist defensive stance: it's not bad unless our expert say so. Our expert is better than them despite they're best in the world.

I know pre season friendlies count for little but had we stuffed Dortmund then a defeat to City wouldn't have been too damaging but defeat to them coupled with the Dortmund game may have had a bit of a lingering effect. Victory on the other hand would have been sweet but let's just get out of there, get Pogba sorted and get back to a couple of intensive weeks at Carrington ready for Bournemouth.

Ah yes, classic Chinese face saving too!

I came here to find photos of the pitch, not surprised it's like that.

All those years of potato patch pitches, failing to cut or water to slow down Barcelona's passing game. Now suddenly pitch condition matters, so yes massive hypocrite

You do know that even city complained about pitch and the decision was made together?

Not surprising though given your love for conspiracy theories.

So you don't want to sign Pogba? If we didn't do the commercial side of the game we wouldn't have the money to break transfer records and sign players like Pogba.

Perhaps it's your own love for conspiracy theories you profess since I mentioned none, I marveled at the hypocrisy of Mou - that's not a theory, it's a fact

Pep also complained about this pitch hence both sides agreed to cancel the game. If Mourinho is hyprocrite for calling this one right (Pep agreed), then Pep is a spoiled brat for not being able to play on any pitches and Barcelona players are massive twat.

Why did City cancelled the game?

Calling someone hypocrite for cancelling the game, decision which was made by all parties must be newest low.

Why did City cancelled the game?

I didn't realize City had the power to cancel it on their own. Still, some strange logic to link that to Mou's hypocrisy - he messed with the pitch for years and lampooned those who were critical and yet he's here complaining about it again. Definition of hypocrisy.

you would have a point if it were a decent pitch and he was complaining about it not being watered, or uneven slightly, but the pitch looks worse than a horse running track , it's literally unplayable. Jose is a hypocrite, he's our hypocrite but he's not being hypocritical this time.

But somehow you believe Jose alone cancelled the game. Definition of obsession.

There is messy pitch and there are pitches that are unfit to play.

Part of that is true but the potato patch at Chelsea was in a worse state than the one in China and he had no issue leaving it like that. Hypocrite, but your hypocrite

I believe or you are asserting mou cancelled the match? I said nothing of the sort, just pointed out the hypocrisy, the rest you are on a tangent
