Premier League fixtures - April 8th-10th

Everton simply have to sell Lukaku. You can't carry around an asset that can get you about 60-70m when that money can be applied to buying 2-3 top players.

They pushed back a 70 million bid for him from Chelsea last summer, he's going to cost world-record/near world-record fee this summer.

Spurs and Liverpool would have been better off if their assets had wanted to stay. I have a feeling Everton will miss Lukaku if/when he leaves.

Absolutely, he's even hotter property this summer. There will never be more takers for him.

Yeah you're probably right. They can buy about 3-4 very good players for that, which will be necessary to take them from knocking on Europa to making the CL.

I just don't think mid table clubs can carry players who are worth that much when selling the player can vastly improve them at various positions. Koeman seems to have a decent knack of getting his clubs to punch above their weight, so he could probably do a hell of a lot with 80m.

Yeah true. He had some good buys at Southampton. I don't think it's easy to replace a goal scorer who is as consistent as Lukaku has been though.

I do think they'll sell him in the summer.

I'm curious whom will they get as a replacement for him. Will they go for the exact same type of a rugged, big anchor striker or for some pacey little fella.

Lukaku has now scored more league goals than Middlesbrough.

He also has exactly half as many league goals as Man Utd.

Lukaku is still very raw. Sometimes he looks unstoppable, but sometimes looks like he's feet are arguing amongst themselves.

Still tho, he's very clinical.

I think they'll focus on replacing Lukaku's goals. I'm not sure it'll matter much what kind of striker the replacement is.

Haven't us(ronaldo), spurs(bale) and Liverpool(suarez) proven that it's always better to keep a world class player, who the side wouldnt normally get than to cash it in for three/four players. Although it's debatable if lukaku is that important to Everton.

2 things about Lukaku - 0 of his 23 goals have been penalties, and secondly, he gets absolutely no protection from refs. Probably on account of his size.

Difference is we are bigger clubs than Everton. They need the revenue to move up in the table. Carrying semi-WC player worth 80m won't take them where they want to be. They need to sell Lukaku for as much as they can get, then go out and buy another Lukaku potential player for 20-30m, along with a top midfielder and winger.

I think you could argue that those three were actually underpriced relative to how good/vital they are/were at the time. Lukaku very obviously isn't as good, and is probably appropriately valued at the rumoured price that's been floating around.

If Chelsea buy Lukaku for £75m, couldn't Everton then offer Crystal Palace £35m for Benteke and improve the squad elsewhere with the remainder? I'd argue yes.

Such a sensitive soul, grow up.
Grow up? Coming from the person who needs to use the phrase 'special needs', I find that it's usually 12 year olds who find this funny.

I am good friend's with a disabled lad and find your post offensive.

We might be but spurs and liverpool of that season were at the same level as everton are now. Spurs would have broken into the CL a lot sooner if they had kept bale and modric.

I dont think its possible in the current market to get a potentially top striker, midfielder and winger for 80m while still being competitive. They would either have to go for a very raw kid or someone inferior.

That part is true but I dont think they will be able to sign anyone good with that money, didnt watford reject a bid of 35m for deeney? And benteke is a worse striker than lukaku.
