Exactly, not to mention that we gifted Arnautovic and West Ham some (open) chances as well. Bricking it for tonight tbh, at home against Brighton should be a banker next weekend so we could be off to a terrific start wit a win at Palace. However they're a more than decent team and Zaha/Benteke could cause us some trouble. Let's see what we're really made of this season, first game I'm actually nervous for.

Palace away is a difficult game, especially when Zaha is a fit .. Benteke is trash though, you have no worries about him. He's a handicap to them, as of now one of the worst strikers in the league.
Zaha against TAA worries me. I'm wondering if Klopp might start Clyne instead for the experience.
Still we've got a lot of fire power up top and a stronger midfield. We've won the last three league games against them at Selhurst as well.
Wouldn't Clyne be a bit rusty? I think anyone going up against Zaha has a difficult day to be honest, he can rinse any fullback in the league when he's on his game. Just gotta hope that his end product isn't there. I think you'll go down 1-0 in the first half but end up winning 3-1 tbh, Palace are a decent side but you look very complete this season, and I doubt they can cope with what you have up top.
He's had more of a pre-season than Alexander-Arnold has which is why I think Klopp might rotate between them early on.
I think they'll offer more of a threat than West Ham did for sure, but I think we'll manage a couple of goals at least. Big test for Alisson though. He's been going up against coaching staff with Rugby pads apparently to prepare for what Palace have to offer from set pieces.
Interesting. Always fun to see Hodgson up against his old club (sorry for bringing up the memories), seems to have actually done a good job with Palace. He's solid with that kind of team, just like with Fulham and West Brom. You'll definitely create chances, Palace are not great defensively, but on the counter attack they're one of the best teams in the league outside of the top six.

I trust TAA to do his job like always. Even if he'd struggle against Zaha (a lot of fullbacks would), he'll bomb forward more often than not which means it's 2 against 1 on Salah's side if Zaha doesn't track back.
Big test this, ultras will be out in full force for their first home game of the season and they have the players to cause us problems .

i am generally pessimistic in games against clubs where we are expected to beat them but our first game against hammere made me change my mind.
Last season we were devoid of ideas in midfield with too many backward and side passes. This season, we look to move the ball faster and ahead, thus creating chaos in opposition defense. plus we have better bench compared to last year.

If teams haven't worked it out already (doubt it) then our extreme weakness is balls over TAA or Gomez's shoulders. Both players have unexplainable blindspots. Diagonals into that area of the pitch should reap rewards without having to compromise their defensive shape.
Lukaku and Rashford last season is the best example but there are others (Palace, West Ham, etc). Wonder if Klopp is aware and will have put some training drills in before the match?

Might be. Klopp sometimes eases certain players in. He didn't play Robertson for the first few months he was at the club.
I wasn't convinced by Fabinho in pre-season.
I thought he'd be slotting right in almost immediately ahead of Milner or Wijnaldum. Though in fairness they don't deserve to get dropped right now.

Klopp's doing what he did with Chamberlain and Robertson. Neither of them played for a while after signing.
Yeah, I suspect as much. Guess he's a lot further behind than we thought. Sooner he gets acclimated the better though. Him and Keita will take us up another level and hopefully we don't drop too many points in the meantime.

On the City documentary, on the third ep, the 'Director of Football : Latin America' was introduced. WTH? they've got a DoF for different parts of the world, even.
