Premier League Gameweek 3

We need more mobile midfielders and attackers with a better workrate if we are going to challenge for the top four.

The end period of the transfer window will most likely decide our season.

Your central midfield helps protect the back 3, it's not really two 8s, it's more supposed to be like two 6s a la what Wolves did last year and previously with Moutinho and Neves. Solidify the center, protect the back 3, and work the ball quickly and efficiently into space or the wingbacks. But do not lose your shape and leave the back 3 exposed too much.

I don’t like being too negative about our lads but it would be nice if we ran with half the purpose of Liverpool. We really are a team of plodders haha

Unfortunately, Xhaka and Elneny working the ball quickly is a pipedream...

Tonight is a really good example of what proper tactical pressing looks like. It's not 4-5 guys busting a lung sprinting at their nearest man with the ball. Hell, Liverpool's press was so good that there was almost no need for any sprinting at all. It's about collectively pressing in waves, and the second waves immediately follows the first, and the third immediately follows the second, so there's absolutely no space in one half of the field.

Except the manager that wins the league all others are fraud in this forum.
I think 'fraud' now usually means something like 'not as good as some people I don't like say he is'.

A couple of seasons ago we said the same about City.
Yet Pep and gang are still there and they don't look the pressing energetic team they did then

Maybe their "cycle" has worn off.

Thats true. The big difference with City is that the intensity definitely has dropped off. They did, however, always seem to have to rely on their squad, even at their peak.

This Liverpool team is insane. Time and time again, we see the same 9 players in the first eleven, game after game, week after week and they keep up the pressing and intensity.

Whatever he does, we need it.

Huh? Mendy was their width on the left yesterday. He was right up with the forward line.

And? Probably explains why they lost so badly.

Who plays there usually? Do they spend all game whipping in crosses in to the box or is it Sterling and mahrez who ends up wide with de bruyne and Silva(last season) making runs in between the half spaces? That's why Kyle walker is much less attacking than he was at spurs because the width comes from the inverted forwards.

Would still tire you out though, week after week surely.

Seriously though, how do they keep going like this, can’t just be fitness and conditioning and I know when your the top team everything clicks and seems easier but jeez, it’s just crazy.

Tbh, and this may be an unpopular opinion, but I think that every team or player is doping to a certain degree, however some teams are just better at it than others.

70-30 possession, 11 shots to 1, how do they get into the game Roy?

Roy: They are in the game.

Arsenal have only had 5 succesful passes in the final third.

They are in the game is Roy telling the viewers not to switch channels.

In the past a team can do this type of dominance for 3 years so let’s see over the next 12 months or so. If the same players keep going like this for 3/4yrs then I’ll start to believe that too.

This is why Bielsa's leeds united is so amazing. He almost got a draw against Liverpool with the players he has.

The kind of press @Hoof The Ball describes is actually less tiring then being its 'recipient' or having a less organized play. It means you get the ball quickly and can play the game at your tempo, rather than having to chase the ball. I also read somewhere that it's much more motivating playing like this, cause you're in possession more often and not constantly chasing shadows or being hounded. Feeling good about your game helps a lot for fitness (and last-minute winners).

The ease at which Liverpool create good opportunities in the final third is frightening.

They need a few good touches and they are immediately in a dangerous position.

Other teams go to hell and back just to create a single decent chance from open play

Liverpool are too good. It hurts but looking at the shite we serve, this stuff they play is entertaining

They rather kick the ball to the arsenal gk, as they know they have more chance getting the ball high up by pressing their defense rather than to build up from the back all the time.

It's actually really impressive when the whole team are drilled.

You're sure it's my post you meant to quote? I'm missing the link here.

I agree that Bielsa is doing great though, and anyone calling him a fraud if he'd lose a few games would be out of their minds. Plus, Bielsa has shown for ages now what he's does and is capable of in football; he could just never be a fraud anymore as a coach. (Going by the actual, real-world definition of fraud.)
