Premier League weekend fixtures 11/12/13 August

feck me, are Sky paying Jamie Redknapp too much and can't afford a proper studio anymore?

I'm not saying they can't celebrate the comeback, but the chants of 'We're top of the league' etc are, whilst I hope in tongue and cheek, total cringe. If I was an arsenal fan there tonight for sure I'd be happy with the late win, but I'd be more concerned about letting 3 in at home to Leicester.

Giroud also gets right on my tits so I'm also being grumpy.
Well obviously it's tongue in cheek, only 2 teams who have played a match so far.

We're just relieved to have won and got the 3 points. Defensively we were absolutely shocking today but we were playing with such a shite defence that the hope is we'll look more solid when we have our first choice CBs back.

I never understood stupid comments like this. After a win like that any fan would obviously be happy with coming away with 3 points. So would you.

Singing we are top of the league is something I'd expect from a team like Everton or below. Arsenal fans singing it because they're winning the first game of the season after conceding 3 goals. Moreover, the crowd was dead until that moment.

Last season Arsenal scored 23 goals in the last 15minutes of a game. They know they can do it and Leicester should have seen it coming.

Good win for Arsenal, sets them up for a strong start to the season. Lacazette looks like a steal for his price, and the Arsenal bench (and the stands) show that they have enough depth for this campaign.

Xhaka made 2 errors that led to goal, and the defence was without Koscielny or Mertesacker. I think they'll be decent defensively. If Lacazette settles down well, they might have a strong season.

Also, great entertainment. The Premier League is back, bitches.

Everything's cringe when a rival does it. Brush it off mate, you're gonna get a lot of that here. Especially now we're a well drilled Jose side (which is fine by me fwiw) and less likely to be involved in these kind of games than ever. Deep down we all know how brilliant it is to win 'em.

Great game. Nice to have early confirmation that Arsenal will be challenging for nothing higher than 4th place again.

well that was fun.

Glad that wont be our defence in about 3 games time.

monreal - koscileny - mustafi is our first choice for those criticising our defence and doubt they'd concede 3 every game.

they better work on corners this next week coz that was some beyond a joke, you'd think they'd learn after the first 2 times...

mahrez doing all he can to move though, clearly not in it

Not looking forward tomorrow, if it's anything like this shite tonight.. high octane, full throttle, Watford giving it large. Think I might just go out do some shopping.

you do't think it's little bit early for the towel to be coming in? - :D

I know they did a bit of research with a couple of companies I worked with to redesign their sport package from the ground up, so my guess is they came to the conclusion the old format of a bunch of old blokes sitting in a hi-tech bubble was a bit uninvolving and had gotten a bit stale. Looks like this is their idea for bringing the audience closer to the game/pitch while cutting costs in the process. Pretty poor execution all-round...

It's all banter, mate. Lighten up. Their team turned it around. It was an exciting game. It's the beginning. Everyone's in a good mood.

You lot are gash at the back. Get used to lots of goals at both ends this season.

Couldnt watch the game but looked a cracker. Gutted Arsenal managed to nab it it.

Appalling decision from Shakespeare to replace James with Iheanacho, basically opened the door and laid out a red carpet for Arsenal to run right through the centre of them having repeatedly failed to successfully attack down the flanks.

Hate Arsenal so much, flukiest side in the league, hope to God they never get the chance of representing England in the Champions League again while Wenger is still there.

Kos & Mustafi aren't all that - not that the phenomenally average DM situation helps much obvs

Ospina for Cech might not be far off, either

They lead 3-2, what do they do? Taking out a central midfielder and put on an extra forward. Brilliant piece of tactics...

It's a good tactic to keep the opposition in check at the back. 2 forwards would make them cautious in flooding forward and or removing a defender for another attacking player.

Arsenal scored 4 goals.
It's been a while since MUFC scored that many in a league game.

The PL is the best league in the world - don't care what people say when comparing players; there is always the possibility they will struggle on a rainy day at stoke.

4-1 vs Leicester last season.

We are also way less likely to concede 3 or more in one game. Chelsea and Watford last season.

Arsenal conceded 3 or more against Liverpool (Home and Away), West Brom(Away), Chelsea (Away), and Crystal Palace (Away).

I think I'll avoid YouTube tonight. It'll be a cacophony of "We is gunner win the league blud, know what I mean fam" either that or that little dude with his club shop headphones, glasses, socks, pen, hat and underpants bemoaning the lacklustre defending.

Arsenal are becoming kings of opening day 4-3 results though.

Exciting game for the neutral.
Arsenal's makeshift defence comically inept at times but my, don't they play some lovely slick attacking football?
They won't win the league but if they keep Sanchez and with Lacazette, they might make top 4.
Good stuff from Leicester, too. Vardy back to his best.
Really good game, I enjoyed it.

My group of friends plays so tight we couldn't get a 4-3 like this at table football this morning. :p

They are probably the best in the league at late comebacks now. Their comeback didn't surprise me at all - they seem to do it every other game now!

For sure! We had so many special moments under Fergie with games like this.

The last time I remember us scoring 4 in the league was in van Gaal's first season against QPR I believe. The one with di María's dodgy free-kick goal.

If you're going to pick a player whose underpar performances don't get criticized there would be few less appropriate choices than Özil.

Plus Özil's numbers buy him an off day. He's still a significantly more productive player than Pogba.

Productivity is literally the only thing Ozil has. Without it he wouldn't be a footballer. Pogba does so much more.

Arsenal's season depends on Lacazette firing in the goals. If he can settle quickly then I'm sure they'll get at least the top 4. Winning the league requires more. You need a certain steel and ability like someone has said before to grind out those 1-0 wins even when you're not at your best. That has been Arsenal's undoing for the last couple of years and they haven't done much to address it in the transfer window either. A CB and CM have to arrive and then we can talk.

It was James first game for ages, so can understand him going off, but as you say a defender or another midfielder would have been the sensible substitution.
