Question Time & This Week

People are stupid but they don't like being call stupid. Surprisingly.

That's the difficult thing. He's got a point, yeah...but he's also coming across as remarkably condescending to anyone who voted Leave, and his pitch of winning over Tory voters just falls completely flat when he wants to go against something that over half of them agree with.

You are probably right, but I'm not a leave voter :)

Is it hypocritical to call people who want another referendum undemocratic hypocrites? Surely best of three is the most democratic.

I'd agree, and said something similar the other week, but if people like Owen Smith wanted that they should've said so beforehand. Not now that the result hasn't gone their way. That's the problem. If you only advocate second referendums and the like after it hasn't gone your way, you struggle to look legitimate at all.

Yep it's a non starter.

Oh great we've on to killing people now.

I dunno what's going on. I'm actually liking quite a bit of what Corbyn is saying, even if parts are a tad idealistic:nervous:
I'm scared and confused.

He's been surprisingly decent tonight. Looks calm and collected, has been savvy and careful in his answers, and hasn't said anything outrageous. He looks much more confident and capable than Smith on the basis of tonight, and his answers are more consistent.

Completely agree. Parliamentary Labour types won't be happy. Smith getting booed a bit there?

I agree, apart from the 2nd referendum thing (which is bias on my part) Corbyn has been much better.

Owen doesn't come across well. Something about him I don't like.
Ukip bloke not impressed:lol:
He's an ass. I don't like him at all. Comes across as a chance.

Was very snidey trying to make out Corbyn hates Jews.

Yeah this has gotten painful. Smith looks so petty every time he tries to bring up Corbyn's connections to the murkier parts of the party because a lot of it's speculation and not actually Corbyn himself, thus holds little weight.

Yeah hes doing far better than Smith. Although on disarmament he said we stopped chemical warfare; we have but others haven't, which is where his stance on trident (whilst in an ideal world all nuclear weapons should be scrapped) falls down.

Delighted for Corbyn - he bossed it whilsother came across as a sniping snidey chance.

Corbyn came across as a distinguished, experienced, politically sophisticatedl and principled man. I'd be very happy for him to run the country.

simply wearing a dark suit makes him look very sharp. If he got rid of the beard too, I reckon he'd overcome alot of his 'unelectabilty' issues!

So, Owen's given a chance to give Jeremy a position afterwards, and he says one which apparently doesn't exist.

Realistically too much has happened for him to ever be a viable political leader, and the people he surrounds himself with like McDonnell and Abbot are political jokes, but if he'd started his tenure like this and didn't have such a murky past he'd be a lot more viable.

That's the idealism, I guess. He was definitely a clear winner overall imo though.
Sorry, nothing personal! Just fon't like that weasel.

Labour is so fecked. Two horrific candidates, but Corbyn came across so much better than Smith.

How many times did Jeremy use the phrase social justice? Even heard safe space and social justice in the same sentence. So cringeworthy.

Also that final few moments during the credits.... jeeez

Yep. Why do labour MPs want him over Corbyn?!?!
I refuse to believe they do, he's simply a patsy. This, alongside the hilariously one sided purge, is entirely about attempting to chip at his mandate and justify the PLP's next attempt. If their two leadership options, going into this, were genuinely Angela Eagle and Owen Smith it's Monster Raving Loony Party levels of political ineptitude. Just without the chuckles.

Not sure why people, the so called political press especially, are acting surprised that Harman's name got booed tonight. Her spineless approach to the welfare bill is what lead to Corbyn being voted in as leader to begin with.

There are a number of big-hitters waiting in the wings. There has to be. Like you say, nobody in the PLP can seriously believe that Smith is up to the job. That was one of the worst political performances I've seen.

Who ?

They(PLP)have been asked this a number of times and they constantly fail to come up an answer.
