Question Time & This Week

Jenas' answer there was a bit all over the place.

Well Jenas came through that without to much trouble and proved that Question Time audiences will clap anything.

This is a terrible panel in general, the SNP's MP is dreadful and Roger Helmer is a space cadet.

She was only brought in to get the female quota up in the cabinet. She is fairly awful when it comes to basic presentation.

Same goes for Priti Patel. Her views are ridiculous, she is generally a moron and has no real chance of ever gaining any real power. However, because she is an ethnic minority and female, therefore is perfect for the cabinet...

It's pretty bad that young British girls of Indian heritage are being told to be like Priti Patel. Much better to look up to Shami Chakrabarti or pretty much any other individual they may identify with.

Looks like Nicky Morgan let out the prospect of a Uturn about the Personal Independence Payment.

The one on This Week just now was god awful as well.

Was it Stacey Dooley? She does documentaries and stuff and she's awful, tuned out by that point.
No the SNP woman. The Dooley bit was basically just Andrew Neill being a bit pervy.

Ah right, who was it? Most of them are okay, but the one from QT was particularly bad. She's supported just about every major party up here at some point, and speaks with the fakeness of someone who's quite evidently an MP because it was opportune for her.

Hannah Bardell, said the economy was contracting. Not quite.

Yeah Ahmed-Sheikh was a Tory that stood for election at one point wasn't she?

She was. Called Salmond out of his depth and all, so pretty anti-SNP. Funny her mind seemed to change with the parties reversal in fortunes, of course...

And herein lies the problem.

There's nothing wrong with trying to encourage women into high office, but when someone more competent is overlooked, potentially because they are a man & there aren't enough women, then the system is wrong. They should always be the best person for the job, regardless of sex or ethnicity.

This is stupid, there are plenty of incompetent men in the cabinet (and shadow cabinet).

Agreed, thats another problem entirely.
It's not though, incompetent people get put in the cabinet all the time, it's not anything to do with their gender. Morgan last night was attempting to avoid criticism of the god awful mistake that Osborne (a man) made in his budget of funding a tax cut for corporations with a cut in benefits for the disabled, which had been likely spurred on by renowned imbecile IDS (a man). IDS is genuinely someone that wouldn't have got anywhere near as far in life as he has if he wasn't a bloke, that's the bigger problem.

Ok perhaps it's the same problem (people undeservedly being put in positions of power), but there is a slightly different cause for them getting positions - the old school boys network.

It is arguably worse and does in some way mean that token women or people from ethnic minorities are put in the cabinet. It's a different problem in as much as it needs to be addressed differently.

Wasn't Morgan brought in through a reshuffle that was designed to break up the Eton sausage fest and make the Tory cabinet look more modern?

Think Robertson probably came across best on that, Jenny Jones was atrocious, Hannan doing his Farage-lite shtick. Winner of the night - Liz on This Week

There were some awful people in thatcaudience. What is the screening standard? Old bigot, digruntled NHS worker, non-white person audience pretends to clap...

I liked it when the nerdy kid told someone else in the audience to shut up though, someone had to do it.

I thought the highlight was the slightly racist Hyacinth Bucket look a like saying she wanted her country back.

Poor Richard, having to put up with that.

Made me laugh when that man said he was a proud tax payer expecting a round of applause. It means nothing.
