Rafael

It's Rafael time

Hopefully in 15 min or so

Not sure about chucking in Rafael against Bolton away but he is sure to feature in league games this season particularly at OT. It's a shame for Fabio that he has to compete with Patrice Evra.

With the lack of wingers we have at the moment, neville has got to start against newcastle if he is fit, as he provides us with an attacking outlet from deep. If neville is not fit, i say throw rafael in at the deep end.

feck me he can play.

I was gutted on missing his debut. I thought after all the hype he would freeze a bit today, but he did not. Very promising player.

Rodrigo looked class as well.

Not really a question of should he play in the first team this season? But rather which games should he start, and when would we be better off using Wes or Gary Neville?

Right now I would suggest that Rafael should start matches at Old Trafford against some of the lower half sides when we will be looking to unlock packed defences.

Also he'd be useful to have on the bench as an attacking option if we need to create more.

what a fecking exicting prospect he is

forget the brazilian magic he's got the hunger and desire to do well

legend in the making

He is not there yet, he will be. Don't forget that Brown was excellent last season and we won the double. Moreover, it will be too much pressure on the lad if we kick him in straight away.

That was very impressive. A few mistakes, but bloody hell, taking the ball of Amauri's (Brand new £18 million signing) toe and speeding up the wing past Salihamidzic and Chiellini (both full internationals) is bloody good from an 18 year old in his second match for over a year.

Newcastle aren't exactly renowned for being a tight defensive unit like Juve. They're a perfect team for Rafael to play against and i'd say odds are on he will make it against Newcastle and then be left out against Pompey.

The italian commentators where thrilled with him. You have to be special to do so well against Chellini.

IMO, he will be better as a winger. He's got everything to be the new giggs.

I disagree, Roy Hodgson tried to ruin Roberto Carlos' career by playing him on the wing for Inter. Rafael likes to get stuck in and win possession. He's a right back, that has been his position up to now and should be for the rest of his career.

Actually, the one weakness he's shown so far is that he's got feck all for a left foot. A few wild swings when he's had the chance that have been hide, wide and far from handsome.

Could certainly end up on the right of midfield, but why would you do that when he's so stellar at the back?

OUr first and second XI defence should look as folows from now on:

1st: Gaz Rio Vida Pussy-flaunter
2nd: Rafael Wes Evans Fabio

Silvestre may push fabio for reserve left back but otherwise bye bye and thanks

Rafael will push Gazza for 1st choice right back

No cover needed for CB for a long time as Wes and Evans are more than capable

No more pissing about with Hargreaves or Fletcher as emergency RBs - Midfield slightly more competitive now I fear Fletcher may have to do one if Rodrigo starts to push more for a place

Btw

Rafael > Boswinga....and theres everyone shitting themselves that Chelsea have raised the bar with their spending

I've still got a grin on my face. Nothing better than seeing a promising young lad like that.

Pace to burn, seems skillful and has a got a good spring as well. Got in a couple of great defensive headers.

Yeah he's pretty much nailed on to be our long term Neville replacement. Not much more to say than that really.

Fabio is unlucky being behind the best left back in the world but he's got time on his side.

anyone think he is ready for first team football .. he wont get it at united this season obv , but is he good enough to start for some premiership teams ?
