Hardly the same though is it? Redcafe has as image which is the basis on which it attracts members. The staff work hard to ensure that the place is run properly and free of spastics; to be accused of being involved in something like that isnt good.

It could have been anyone. Ban the user, personally i would like it if they divulged the IP address to the mods of rival forums so that if it's being used they could be banned from there as well.

Yes it's a sensitive subject but I've seen a number of offensive posts on this forum and every other forum i've ever been a member of and thankfully the mods do a great job of cleaning the shit up. You'll always get a small percentage of attention seeking idiots on public forums.
Fair enough attributing the post in question to RAWK as a whole - when they did their best to remove it swiftly - is unfair. But talk of involving the police, time consuming investigations, passing out IP addresses and waging Twitter campaigns, all seemingly to protect what they see as RAWK's glowing reputation just strikes me as rather poor.
Surely the post was not in anyway illegal, just offensive and petty. Delete, ban and maybe a warning/reiteration of the forum rules to the rest of the members would seem to be the appropriate action.

It's illegal in the UK. Hacking is covered by a law that escapes my mind (Computer Misuse Act? There's another one, mind...)
That would violate the Data Protection Act in the UK. The only reason to divulge personal information is to prevent crime or if ordered to by a court. If RAWK mods come over to the Caf to ask for IP addresses, say, using omgzthisisclearlyRAWKadminz@gmail.com, I would not want the Caf to disclose IP addresses - and neither should anyone.
If they want IP addresses, they should take it to the police and let them handle it.

Will the police be interested? Well it's possible to map that RAWK account to a real-life persona - be it a Facebook account or phone number. At that point someone's real-life is being harmed. So yes, I'd imagine the police will be interested.
