Real are hated arch-rivals of his boyhood club.
He left his boyhood club for silverware, sure, but he left them for another league where he was unlikely to have to play against them.
I don't think he has the sort of attachment to LFC that LFC supporters have pretended he does (his disinterested performances of the last 18 months have proven that).
So going to Chelsea, who are hated rivals of LFC (who he may well feel have 'let him down' in their transfer dealings and management decisions), is not a big deal to him. Certainly not what moving to a club you hated as a boy would be.
I still think he would sign for Madrid if they bid for him. When it comes to the crunch there is very little loyality in football. And I see him as no different. Owen went to us. And that really proves the point.
Also if Barc had not signed Villa in the summer they would almost certainly go for Torres right now
