I am a lifelong LFC supporter, therefore, I am an optimist by nature ...

Personally, I am still 100% convinced that we will finish 4th this season ...

Hehe

After tonights defeat and a top five place looking more than tricky (but achievable) is the intertoto cup an option for us now to try and get some sort of European Footy next season

Is the intertoto still running? My thoughts are if it is, then we should be in it.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if UEFA brought the competition back just so Liverpool can get in Europe.

Are you seriously saying that all they need is 2 wingers and next year is their year?

 - you must be taking the piss.

Fadas mate, I've just re-read my post .. how on earth did you reach that conclusion. My point was that since the days of Barnes and Mcmanaman, its been their problem area and one they should seek to resolve immediately especially if they want to bring the best out of Carroll.

There's also the issue of the defence, replacing over the hill Carragher and finding another Hyppia, not to mention a new creative spark through the centre instead of over-relying on Gerrard who is past his peak.

Awful performance tonight, Carroll done well in the air but there was no one on the same wavelength to read his flick ons. Pedestrian support from the midfield and the usually consistent Kuyt had a stinker tonight, Braga did not seem phased at all despite the crowds best attempts to stir some fight in this braindead Liverpool lineup.

I thought Dirk had a blinder. Brilliant block from Carroll

True but I wouldn't underestimate the guys magnetism. It might be a long hard road for them, but buying the right players instead of buying for the sake of it as was seen in previous regimes is of paramount importance to their near future. If he can convince young talented footballers that he can turn things around and make them buy into his vision, I can see their fortunes changing.

Choose Liverpool,
Choose the Intertoto Cup,
Choose long balls to Andy Carroll and feeding off the scraps,
Choose only bothering to turn up for one match a season,
Choose 5 at the back,
Choose the 80's,
Choose deluded fans,
Choose a manager who's been out of the game for over a decade,
Choose Liverpool.

Reina - Johnson Skrtel Agger Aurelio - Gerrard Meireles Winger1 Winger2 - Carroll Suarez

That's a decent lineup, they should do better than they have done this season. But they do need two wingers and they do need more adequate backup on the bench (and preferably players better than some of those, so these could be pushed down to backup players).

They won't be in title contention anytime soon.

decent lineup, but their squad is weak. Take one of those out and they struggle

Hehe they are quite pleased because we didn't draw Schalke and Spurs drew Real.

Small crumbs of comfort for a small club I suppose. See ya in Europe next season fellas. Oh wait...

Chelsea is a pretty good draw for us. Did they see how little bother they caused us until the ref failed to send of Luiz and then handed them the game?

Must be quite awkward for them. Do we progress, or does Torres the traitor get a step closer to that which evaded him at Liverpool?

They're taking todays results pretty well actually;

You are old enough to believe in destiny ... And from the first moment that Kenny has returned as manager of our beloved club, I knew that he is destined to win No.19 before Ferguson ... I can't really explain why, but I am willing to bet my life on it ...

A 'optimistic' post lost in the waves of anger over at RAWK.

Here's a little gem you might've missed on Thursday, when they went out to the mighty Braga. I was gonna bold all the cringeworthy bits, but I'd have ended up emboldening the whole thing, lol. This is just the opening paragraph of what this Ra***ostle had to say:

I love Rafa, I really, really do. I cried like a three year old when he was sacked. I stood outside Anfield singing for him to go. I wrote him a soppy letter telling him how he had made supporting Liverpool a dream and that he had given me the best nights of my life. I supported Inter Milan during his six months there, celebrating every goal, I have said before I'd fetch a noose if he went to Chelsea. I love the man. I adore him. Will defend him to anyone who has a bad word to say about him, the gentleman, the legend.

I stood outside Anfield singing for him to go.

That's funny - I stood outside Anfield singing for him to stay. :D

Bet his lift against what?
