RAWK goes into Meltdown 2010/2011

6 minutes aside you were outclassed completely for 114 minutes. Add to the fact Gerrard dived to win a penalty and the Referee missed the linesman waving his flag for offside seconds before the Smicer goal and I'd say you were extremely lucky.

The Gerrard diving incident is one of the biggest myths ever. It was an absolutely stonewall penalty. Stone that had been erected by the Ancient Persians and was still there in 2005. It was that stone wall.

When you're 3-0 down at half time against a very good Milan side, if I was a Milan supporter I'd say that something went very wrong on their part rather than something very right on Liverpool's part.

You have to be in it to win it and while we certainly had a slice of fortune in the final what we did to even get there was fantastic.

When Liverpool win it's always because the other team has been shite. It's similar to how when you lose it's always someone else's fault.

That's football/the cafe for you.

Made by our very own Top

33 seconds in, how on earth is that a penalty?

Was it feck.

32 seconds. There's the briefest tangling of arms.

EDIT: feck you Elvis.

Because he was tugged back when running fast. I've never heard anyone argue about it outside of this forum. There's a massive rewrite of history on the Caf.

Yeah, that's why when you type in "Gerrard dive" to google the second suggestion is "Gerrard dive Champions League final". It's a dive. There's no way that brief tangling of arms is enough to send him to the ground. You could possibly make the argument that it's a foul, but it's about as far away from a 'stonewall' penalty as you're likely to get.

Anyway, this is a bit ridiculous, Liverpool won and well done to them, it was 6 years ago.

Half the penalties given against Arsenal this season which you insist aren't penalties are far more stonewall than Gerrard's.

It was a dive, he conned the ref. Would I complain if a United player did it to salvage a game? Probably not but it would taint it somewhat.

Why don't you simply call it the great wall of China just for extra metaphorical effect?

Whichever. It doesn't really matter in the end. Well, I certainly couldn't give a monkeys anyway...

meh. His ankle was clipped. Clear penalty. 6 years ago. Move on.

I'll hold my hands up and say that in 99, we were bloody lucky. But I suppose it can be said that you make your own luck.

Dunno. The game is 90 mins and it doesn't matter when they go in. Utd have scored many late goals under Ferguson and I don't really see that as luck personally; more a never-say-die attitude.

There's no denying that Liverpool were the most average winners of the Champions League ever.

Shouldn't that be 4 finals in 18 years ?. Because that's how many bites of the cherry you've had. Christ, even Rafa got us to 2 finals in 3 years. So 4 in 18, whilst being the dominant force in English football, is not that special really, is it ?

Shouldn't that be 2 in 6 years?

Does that not make it even more of an impressive achievement rather than a fluke? To be so shite but yet to beat Juventus, Chelsea & Milan who who all either reigning champions or champions of that season?

Honestly, how hard is it for someone just to say "well done, fantastic achievement but it doesn't change the fact that you're all bin-dipping cnuts" That way you save face because your hatred of all things Liverpool is clear for all to see but at the same time show yourself to actually have some sort of clue as to what you are talking about.

That would carry a little more credence where you not the fan of a club who's fans are currently dismissing this Utd team as average or worse. Have a look closer to home for the answer to your question.

So, in essence, your argument is "you started it".

Excellent.

Which club has been to more finals in that time?

I don't think any club has been to more than 4, so essentially we have the best finals record and you're saying that's not impressive? Bitter and clueless.

Also being the dominant force in English football didn't mean much until the late 90's because we were so far behind everyone else in Europe, for some reason.

Not really an arguement. Think of it as an observation.

An observation indeed

"We won't give you credit cos you won't give us any first" "boohoo"

I wouldn't be surprised if you were actually crying at the time you wrote it.

I am not bothered if Mancs can't even begrudgingly say "well done" on the CL win in 2005. I don't expect them to in reality.

But to try and say, "well you never give us any credit first" as means of justification is pretty funny. And I was just commenting on that, really.

I felt quite average while I was writing it actually. I'm aware though, that may be an average occurrence for you when posting. Happy to agree to disagree though.

He wasn't using it as justification, he was pointing out the hypocrisy of fans who are calling United the best of a poor bunch etc turning around and complaining that they're not given credit for their own achievement.

Or that's how I read it, anyway.

Who was offside for Smicer's goal?

Did MnM call your lot the best of a poor bunch?

Either way, it doesn't matter and it's pretty silly discussion that I have instigated here. Though I don't expect nor do I need any grace from anyone on here. I will have no problems congratulating you on any trophies you may win this year, mind. Just the type of bloke I am really.

Tugged back, falls to his knees then falls forward. Never mind a Champions League medal he needs a Nobel Prize for telling the laws of physics to feck off.

That's exactly what I was saying. It seems Sam either wants an arguement or just can't understand words that well. Neither would surprise me. My bet's on a combination of both.

Go and read my post again. If he wants answers to why football fans struggle to give credit to rivals then he should have plenty amongst his own support to ask. He could just ask you.

I don't know, nor do I think it really matters; his point was referring to the fan base as a group. My point is that what he said wasn't unreasonable, and the silly sniping that followed it is the kind of thing that leads to threads like this going way off topic, that's all.

I have no problems giving anyone credit. Never have. Never will.

Fair enough, Nick. I don't understand the off-topic nazis, mind. Who cares if the convo goes off topic? There isn't a finite amount of pages and every thread does to some extent.

But, on that note and to get things back on topic, what about that guy off RAWK? at that guy.
