I can see liverpool scoring early and just about holding on for the win.
My big concern going into this game is that if we go 2-0 up, Madrid would feel like they’re still in the game because we’re prone to lapses in concentration. They’ll feel like that’s not a huge mountain to climb.

If Madrid go 2-0 up I think the game is done because I’m not convinced that we have it in us to come back from behind against a team like them.

As opposed to being fully confident at 1-0 up right...

Agreed, that's why I think ye will try score a couple of goals early.

Well if Madrid were only 1-0 up I’d believe we could pull that back which is why I said 2-0. I never feel confident at 1-0.

If we go 2-0 down I think heads might start to go because our players don’t have the experience that Ronaldo and co do.

The battle on Marcelo's side will be intriguing. As amazing as he is going forward, he's a liability defensively at times. Will he restrain his attacks, do Liverpool double up on him when he does, does the attacker let him go in the hope they can counter. Be many interesting battles all over the pitch but that one could be key. Marcelo can destroy you with his attacks but equally could be at fault for getting too far forward against this Liverpool team whose strength is speed on the counter.

Klopp will be all over Marcelo.. constantly trying to overload his side to get 2 VS 1 especially if Ronaldo or Bale is on that side as they refuse to defend and help out Marcelo against pacey wingers.

Alternatively Liverpool's approach will be begging for a Bale masterclass.
There is that and hopefully Madrid's experience in finals will tell. The slip saved us from Liverpool winning the PL, will the good lord bless us with another intervention? :nervous:

The key battle will be down that side but I'd argue Gini/Mane will be just as crucial. If Gini can dominate physically like he so often does in big games then we'll be in with a sniff.
Mane has stepped it up recently and is the freshest of the front three. He's been leaving defenders for dead recently which is something he hasn't done since the beginning of the season even when he was scoring hattricks.

Another thing I will add is apart from this forum the rest of the world seems to be treating this as a foregone conclusion.
We need to go at them hard and fast

The betting market is not treating it as a foregone conclusion. Real are favorites, but not by all that much.

Lie down and close your eyes. Relax. Take a deep breath. Transport yourself to the evening of the 26th of May to the pub/living room where you will be enjoying the game with your mates and your favorite beverage. Picture the scenes from the game you will see: Klopp screaming with his fabulous set of teeth on display, Casemiro rolling on the ground like if someone had shot him, Ronaldo holding his hands over his head and then wiggling his finger at a linesman.

Good.

Now picture a man lifting the trophy and screaming at the top of his lungs.

Who did you see? Sergio Ramos or Jordan freaking Henderson? Be honest.

Steven Gerrard. I think I closed my eyes for too long.

Emre Can has travelled with our squad to a Spanish training camp today.

No idea if that means he’ll be an option for the final.

Ronaldo and Bale don't refuse to defend. If they defend or not it obeys a plan more often than not. Can you imagine them choosing not to defend in a CL final contrary to what the coach told them to do? At times some forwards are asked not to defend, because the coach believes the threat they pose is bigger that way and the team maximizes its capacity, but if Zidane tells either of them to defend, they will defend.

Real Madrid against a team with Lovren, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Karius. I mean, credits to Liverpool for reaching the final but I'm quite sure it'll be a comfortable win for Real. Which is bad for neutrals who hope for a thriller match.

Yep its very hard to picture Henderson lifting that cup - something about it feels a bit surreal. Even if he didn't play for some reason the next candidate would be Milner and whilst I can picture him a little more, its still not coming into clear focus

I've had a horrible sick feeling for months that "It's their fecking year"..!!
been thinking the same thing at the moment they sold coutinho - its the michael owen "i want to leave to win the champions league " curse all over again and we all know how that finished up

Just starting to get a feeling something unexpected will happen. Trying to rack my brains thinking of the most unlikely scenario and it has to be Henderson scoring a screamer.

I'm sure I remember him scoring a top draw goal against Chelsea during the Rodgers era, but would he have the gall to even attempt it on this stage? Probably just end up passing it backwards/sidewards He's taking a lot of stick on here, so could be fitting that he scores.

He scored a great goal last season at Stamford Bridge. Took a touch and bent one from distance into the top corner. I think he’s only got the one goal this season.

I see what you f*ckers are doing in the latest posts here :nono:

Stop your jinxes and tell us how we'll crumble when we finally meet an above average team.

I want to hear how lucky we've been with draws and refs. How shit our defence is. How mediocre a midfield of Henderson, Milner and Wijnaldum is.

And have you even seen the bench lately? Solanke, Ings, Moreno.

Pure delusion, if you think we're winning this one

Gotcha. Didn't you guys finish outside top 4 last time you won it anyway? League position sometimes goes out the window for these games.
Not quite sure how you got me, lol, but yes, finished 5th in 2005. Also think that had we not got to the CL final, we may have finished closer to second in the PL.

Genuinely think the game will be won and lost on this flank. Marcelo can cause havoc whipping balls in to Ronaldo and co, but equally, Salah could have a field day with the space he leaves.

I'd like Liverpool to win honestly, tired of Real Madrid getting lucky in finals.

We can't exactly moan about Liverpool getting a bit of the glory after being in United's shadow for the past 25 years. Of course I hope they don't win but it isn't the end of the World if they do these things run in cycles. Might even motivate our lot to do a 2007 season next season.

You'd swear Liverpool was winning everything in sight reading this thread. United can still win the FA Cup.

Gotcha in this context means I understand, not that i have captured you.

How to guarantee we don’t win: letting the media know when the victory parade is.

Note that Madrid probably haven’t done this.

I think I am not going to watch it. In case Liverpool win the final I don’t want to have this picture in my mind.

I agree with you word for word. It's refreshing to meet such a down to earth scouser who values realism above delusion.

After Real batter your club in to submission next week (and they will) you can comeback here and bask in the knowledge that you were right. Go you.

Ah feck hate hearing shit like this before the final. Just adds to the nervousness

Sorry for not being clear about that I am just trying to antijinx it, but thank you for agreeing with me ;)
