Giggs will start this one. He deserves it after his performance against them at OT.

Given the injuries picked up from the weekend and Arsenal coming up I'm expecting quite a few changes to be fair. Something like:

De Gea
Smalling Ferdinand Evans Buttner
Jones - Fellaini
Nani --- Rooney --- Kagawa
Hernandez

Social Dad were surprisingly poor at OT, we should be winning but I'd be happy with a draw if we're able to rest a few players and come away unscathed.

Cleverley trained this morning. Rafael, Evans and Carrick were missing.

They were very poor against us. That's the only time I've seen them play this year but they beat Osasuna 5-0 on Saturday so they are capable of much better I'm assuming.

-----------De Gea-----------
Smalling--Evans-Jones--Fabio
------Carrick----Fellaini------
Nani-----------------Kagawa
-----------Rooney-----------
----------Chicharito---------

Hope we see this, but I imagine Nani and Fabio will not get starts, sadly.

looking forward to this one, we should have put them to the sword at home, with the chances we had, instead of what looked like a narrow 1-0.

essential we win this one, to pretty much wrap up qualifying. Although there will still be top place to make sure of. 2nd would be dangerous this year!

I'd like to see Smalling given a shot at centre back... partnering either Rio or Jones (looks like Evans will miss the trip)

With Fabio and Buttner, I don't think there is any need to play Jones or Smalling at right-back, but we most likely will of course.

I have a strange feeling he might go for Fellaini/Giggs in the middle... which will be interesting to say the least.

fabio---------ferdinand-------smalling----------evra
nani------fellaini------jones-----giggs---------kagawa

going to put giggs on the left and kagawa in a central role but doubt it's going to happen. more likely the opposite.
a draw would be a good result now.
got a big game during the weekend so expect the likes of vidic, rooney and van persie on the bench.

A draw won't be a good result. If we draw and Bayer wins, then we must win against Bayer if we want the first place. Madrid, Barca, BVB, PSG and Bayern will get the first place in their groups (and we can't face Chelsea and Bayer in K.O) so chances of getting a top team will be 5/6. Very dangerous if this is the case, so in order to avoid it, we should do the job tomorrow.

Led to believe this is the travelling squad, or very close to it:

de Gea, Lindegaard, Johnstone
Evra, Jones, Ferdinand, Smalling, Vidic, Fabio, Buttner
Anderson, Giggs, Nani, Young, Cleverley, Valencia, Kagawa, Fellaini, Januzaj
Rooney, Hernandez, van Persie

Definitely no Rafael, Evans, Carrick or Welbeck.

Should have official confirmation very soon.

I would really like to see Ando get a chance to show his worth in midfield, and I think that he will play well against a Spanish side. Him, Fellaini and Kagawa in the center could be interesting. Fabio should play, no doubt, and Evra probably needs resting.

Would love to see Fabio at either full back position, but we'll most likely see Smalling and Evra there I reckon.
Edit: Or even Buttner! I keep having to remind myself he's ahead of Fabio in the pecking order.

Even if both us and Bayer win, we'd still have to beat them there to secure 1st place.

De Gea

Fabio
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

Jones
Cleverley

Valencia
Rooney
Januzaj

RvP

If we win tomorrow, then a draw would be enough against Bayer away (assuming that we defeat Shakhtar at home which shouldn't be that difficult).

Well no it shouldn't but we all know it can be, thus requiring us to go full strength in order for us to make sure we don't feck it up. I'd rather beat these tomorrow, beat Leverkusen away and then relax in the last game which comes within a month where we've got 9 or 10 games.

These days, seeing Rio and Vidic at the back would worry me in the PL, but to be fair the partnership is probably more suited to this kind of match, where I expect the tempo to be slower.

I would expect more rotation than most of the posters in this thread. Sunday's match is a huge game and we are carrying some injuries after Saturday.

I'd expect the back four to be much changed with Evans, Rafael and Evra all not playing. I'd have Rio and Smalling as certainties to start and then hopefully Fabio could deputise for Evra. Moyes seems to prefer Buttner left back so he might well start the game with Fabio, Jones or Smalling playing right back. Not sure if we will play Vidic after he has started the last two games against Norwich and Fulham.

I don't expect Carrick to be ready for this game and we have to be cautious with Cleverley. Fellaini needs a start and this is the right game to start Giggs after his last performance. I'd expect Rooney or Kagawa to play ahead of the midfield but Moyes might put someone like Jones or Cleverley in a midfield three like the Shaktar game.

Up front I'd play Hernandez, Kagawa or Rooney behind him and Nani or Kagawa/Young on the left. Januzaj should be rested for Saturday and I think RVP will be rested as well.

Still a good side which should be able to get a result. Main concern is back four as the injuries and need to rest Evra are going to leave us short. Moyes, like Fergie before him, seems to not fancy Fabio as cover for Evra.

Only Rafael and Evans didn't travel after all(according to Moyes).

If United lose this and Bayer win their match, would the teams not be level on points with United travelling to Germany? If so why do people want to field a second string team?

No Jones in midfield please. I'd rather play Giggs there. Thats how bad Jones is in midfield.

Why do people insist on coming out with bullshit in relation to our match day squads/lineup? Irritating as feck.

It's not bullshit - Moyes has said Rafael and Evans haven't travelled.

According to BBC Sport Cleverley is also out.

Fellaini - Anderson would be my preference of midfield if this is the case. Or if Moyes is up for it, an experimental:

Jones/Fellaini
Anderson - Kagawa
Valencia - Rooney - Januzaj
Also, I've just taken some tablets that make me drowsy as hell so I could well be spouting rubbish right now.

Twigg you're spouting rubbish, go to sleep! :p in all seriousness, that's a risky line up!
