Their keepers own fault, he's been going max speed for his goal kicks compared to the first half. That plus he's shit and has wrists made of candy floss.

It looks better but its not efficient. Giles and Dunphy basically going on for the last twenty years for us to play "attractive football" and this is the result.

If we’d been playing proper football for the last 20 years we’d be better at playing that way now.

This is why I never understand anyone advocating to go back to the hoofball. Kenny is building for the future. I'd judge him on the Euro qualifying after these qualifiers. This is all for the future. Young squad, serious lack of quality across the board, new style of football being bedded in.

The link up play and general proactive football is the best it's been in years. The results might come. They might not. Don't throw it all away when we're stuck with the worst squad I've seen in easily 30 years.

Fairly pathetic time-wasting from Azerbaijan. Do they not realise this result keeps them dead last? What are you holding on to exactly?

I never normally watch Ireland so I don't know if I've seen him before but that Horgan fella was absolutely horrendous from what I saw.

He’s out on his feet. Bang average player but he leaves it all out there every time.
Yeah McClean always gives everything, he knows his limitations but will work his socks off for the cause.

Final whistle, really should have been three points, very disappointing

No denying that, but he just isn't good enough and cost us big time against Portugal

It’s not really his fault he doesn’t play at this level but he try’s hard.

Just end this Kenny experiment. 15 games, 1 win (a friendly against Andorra). Abysmal.

Feck knows who comes in but can it be any worse than this really?

FAI is broke, they would struggle to employ any of the cafe

The results might come if we get even one player through the academy that can pull off a shot on target. We're not producing talent so what's the use carrying on this illusion of attractive football when there's absolutely nobody capable of delivering in the system.

Under Trapatoni, I'd watch the post match discussion and count down until they brought up either a) the style of play or b) a missing player (e.g. Ireland, Hoolahan). It happened every damn time. Win, lose or draw, half the time post-match was spent on it.

Idah, Connolly and Parrot are all young and highly rated. If even just one of them fulfils their potential then it will make a massive difference.

Pretty much.

Yeah we've at least a bit of promise coming through as opposed to feck all. Here's hoping we reap the benefits because right now the results are really grim.

So play shitball because there's no point trying?

Eventually someone needs to be backed to reboot Irish football.

This a young squad. They need time and space to try and achieve their potential

I don't think it'll be fair to kill the manager over this. This is the weakest Irish side I've ever seen especially up top. I like what Kenny is trying with the young team the problem is abandoning what they are trying to build reverting to 1k crosses and hoping for Duffy to save the day. He must be you guys top scorer for the last 5 years (well maybe 3)

The panic and change in style of play when down must be worrying

As much as Ireland's manager gives off proper Craggy Island vibes, I don't see anyone doing much with that group of players. First time I've seen them in a while and they barely have any quality at all.

Beyond 'get it in the box' it's hard to see what they're trying to achieve.

Oh yeah, the standard is low. The player getting the most stick plays for Wycombe.

No but just because it's a young squad doesn't mean it shouldn't be played to its strengths. It's basic management. Playing this brand of football without the correct personnel to make it work is what's staring us in the face at the moment with these results.

This can't be over emphasised in my opinion. Kenny is attempting an essential cultural change.
I agree but I think there’s now also a pretty valid question as to whether he’s the man who should be in charge of that culture change (though for whatever it’s worth I’d stick with him and see this thing through, for better or worse).

Well to be fair the style of play was absolutely gash under Trap.
